    Findings of <i>Amblyomma americanum</i> L., 1758 in the Territory of Eastern Siberia (Russia)

    In June, 2008, in the Irkutsk suburban zone, a man was beaten by a tick of an unknown in this area species. According to its morphological characteristics this tick was classified as Amblyomma americanum L., 1758 species, which is the endemic one in the North, Central, and South America. In this respect, the discovery of the unknown previously in this region and in the Russian Federation species of the ixodic tick is not only of a great scientific importance, but presents specific practical interest, as the ticks of this species are the carriers of a wide range of infectious diseases. Probable scenarios of importation of the new species of ticks in the territory of the Russian Federation are under discussion now and the risks, related to this problem, are being assessed

    THE PREVALENCE OF TICK-BORNE ENCEPHALITIS VIRUS ANTIGEN IN SERUM SAMPLES FROM PEOPLE SUFFERED FROM TICK BITES

    The information about more than 17 thousand cases of public inquiries to the Center of Diagnostics and prevention of tick-borne infections of Scientific Center of Problems Family and Human Reproduction Problems because of bites of ticks at the territory of Irkutsk Region during the last six years (2007-2012) is analyzed in the article. All age groups undergo to the bites of ticks. Over the half of the people asking for help have the policy of voluntary health insurance of "Anti tick" kind. The percentage of people vaccinated against the tick borne encephalitis is a little bit over than 8 % what proves the low level of the sanitary education and neglect to the human health in the region. Every year the cases of tick's bites and findings of tick-borne encephalitis virus antigen in blood serum of bitten people in the northern areas of Irkutsk region are revealed. Every year in average 90 examples of blood serum had tick-borne encephalitis virus antigen that means 3 % of bitten people have pre-clinical infection of tick-borne encephalitis. Patients with positive result of tick-borne encephalitis virus antigen (543 patients) had the necessary consultation and preventive treatment with specific immunoglobulin according to the instruction of application.     TO HANTAVIRUS INFECTION IN PEOPLE AND SMALL MAMMALS IN BAIKAL AREA

    The article describes the results of recognaissance surveys of blood serums of humans in Baikal area for hantavirus antibodies and of tissue specimens (lungs) of small mammal for hantavirus antigens. This investigation demonstrated that Baikal area inhabitants contact such dangerous pathogens as hantaviruses. It's proved by the presence of hantavirus antibodies in human serum samples. IgG or IgM antibodies to hantaviruses were found in 3,7 % of 379 tested serum samples. IgM were found in 1,6 % of cases, IgG - in 2,1 % of cases. 2 patients with IgG and IgM with suspected traces of hantavirus infection had complaints to hyperthermia (up to 40,5 °C) and wasting. Blood serums with positive results of hantavirus antibodies were found in residents of Irkutsk region. Hantavirus antigens weren't found in researched lung samples of mouse-like rodent and insectivores from Angarsk, Irkutsk, Zalari and Ust-Kut districts of Irkutsk region and Tunkinsky district of Republic of Buryatia

    THE SPREAD OF THE TICK-BOORNE INFECTIONS IN THE BASIN OF SELENGA RIVER IN BURYATIA AND MONGOLIA

    The results of the research of Selenga river basin as territory of highest risk of human infection with diseases with natural focality in Buryatia and Mongolia are present in this paper. Both in Buryatia and. in Mongolia the highest incidence rate for tick-borne encephalitis is associated with districts situated in the basin of Selenga river - Pribaykalskyi district and Selenge aimag respectively. All tick-borne infections and. every vector tick species detected in Buryatia and. Mongolia so far are present on the territories of these two districts. The epidemiological processes in the natural foci of these territories are shown to be very similar in spite of national and administrative borders

    Diffusion weighted images and PET / CT in the diagnosis of gastric cancer

    Анализ литературных источников, посвященных использованию методов КТ, диффузионно-взвешенных изображений (ДВИ) и ПЭТ/КТ для диагностики злокачественных образований брюшной полости (рака желудка, рака толстой кишки, лимфом брюшной полости и др.), имеют неоднозначный, а иногда даже противоречивый характер. Особенно затруднительна диагностика рака желудка, который остается вторым по распространенности раком в мире. В этой статье описывается система постановки диагноза рака желудка - TNM (опухоль-узел-метастаз) и его клиническое значение. Обсуждаются и иллюстрируются относительные преимущества и ограничения КТ, ДВИ и ФДГ ПЭТ в стадии предварительной обработки и в мониторинге реакций на терапию при раке желудка. Цель работы: изучить диагностическую возможность метода ДВИ и сравнить ее с диагностической характеристикой мультиспиральной компьютерной томографии (МКТ) и 18Ф-ФДГ ПЭT / КТ в диагностике рака желудка. Материалы и методы Измерялась интенсивность сигнала в серии ДВИ изображений и рассчитывались значения коэффициента диффузии (ADC). ДВИ основан на регистрации изменений в характере броуновского движения молекул воды в различных патологических процессах. ПЭТ/КТ проводился с использованием меченной радиоактивным изотопом фтор-18-дезоксиглюкозы (ФДГ) – метод, который позволяет визуализировать и количественно оценивать метаболизм глюкозы в опухолевой ткани. Результаты и выводы Полученные результаты свидетельствуют о том, что ДВИ имеет более высокую чувствительность, но более низкую специфичность, чем 18Ф-ФДГ ПЭТ / КТ. В целом, ДВИ эффективнее, чем 18Ф-ФДГ ПЭТ / КТ для предоперационной постановки диагноза и представляет собой дополнительный метод визуализации, тогда как 18Ф-ФДГ ПЭТ / КТ имеет ограниченную полезность для предоперационной диагностики. В то же время ПЭТ / КТ дает существенное преимущество в улучшении диагностики и терапевтического наблюдения за пациентами, осуществляет мониторинг реакций на лечение.Analysis of the literature on the use of CT, DWI and PET / CT for the diagnosis of malignant diseases of the abdominal cavity (stomach cancer, cancer of the colon, lumbar abdominal cavity, etc.) is ambiguous and sometimes contradictory. In particular, it is difficult to diagnose stomach cancer, which remains the second most common cancer in the world. The purpose of this work is to study the diagnostic capabilities of the DWI method and compare it with the diagnostic characteristics of multislice computed tomography (CST) and PET / CT 18F-FDG in the diagnosis of stomach cancer and gastric lymphoma. Materials and methods Measured the signal intensity in the DWI series and calculated the diffusion coefficient (ADC) values. DWI is based on the registration of changes in the nature of the Brownian movement of water molecules in various pathological processes. PET / CT was performed using a radioactive isotope labeled with fluorine-18-deoxyglucose (FDG), a method that allows visualization and quantification of glucose metabolism in tumor tissues. Results The results show that DWI has higher sensitivity, but shows lower specificity than 18F-FDG PET / CT. DWI is generally more effective than PET / CT 18F-FDG for preoperative diagnosis and is an adjunctive imaging modality, while PET / CT 18F-FDG has limited applicability for preoperative development. At the same time, PET / CT offers a significant advantage in improving routine diagnostics, therapeutic monitoring of the patient, and monitoring response to treatment. In patients with surgical complications of gastric cancer with invasion of other organs, CT allowed us to determine the tactics of managing patients with further planning the volume of surgical intervention
