    A Library for Declarative Resolution-Independent 2D Graphics

    The design of most 2D graphics frameworks has been guided by what the computer can draw efficiently, instead of by how graphics can best be expressed and composed. As a result, such frameworks restrict expressivity by providing a limited set of shape primitives, a limited set of textures and only affine transformations. For example, non-affine transformations can only be added by invasive modification or complex tricks rather than by simple composition. More general frameworks exist, but they make it harder to describe and analyze shapes. We present a new declarative approach to resolution-independent 2D graphics that generalizes and simplifies the functionality of traditional frameworks, while preserving their efficiency. As a real-world example, we show the implementation of a form of focus+context lenses that gives better image quality and better performance than the state-of-the-art solution at a fraction of the code. Our approach can serve as a versatile foundation for the creation of advanced graphics and higher level frameworks

    International audienceThe Mobile Web is evolving fast and mobile access to the Web of Data is gaining momentum. Interlinked RDF resources consumed from portable devices need proper adaptation to the context in which the action is performed. This paper introduces PRISSMA (Presentation of Resources for Interoperable Semantic and Shareable Mobile Adaptability), a domain-independent vocabulary for displaying Web of Data resources in mobile environments. The vocabulary is the first step towards a declarative framework aimed at sharing and re-using presentation information for context-adaptable user interfaces over RDF data

    Error-Tolerant RDF Subgraph Matching for Adaptive Presentation of Linked Data on Mobile

    International audienceWe present PRISSMA, a context-aware presentation layer for Linked Data. PRISSMA extends the Fresnel vocabulary with the notion of mobile context. Besides, it includes an algorithm that determines whether the sensed context is compatible with some context declarations. The algorithm finds optimal error-tolerant subgraph isomorphisms between RDF graphs using the notion of graph edit distance and is sublinear in the number of context declarations in the system

RSLT organises the rendering of RDF statements as transformation templates associated to properties or resource types and producing HTML. A prototype based on AngularJs is presented and we also discuss some implementation details and examples

    A Graph-Based Approach to Transform XML Documents

    As XML diffusion keeps increasing, it is today common practice for most developers to deal with XML parsing and transformation. XML is used as format to e.g. render data, query documents, deal with Web services, generate code from a model or perform model transformation. Nowadays XSLT is the most common language for XML transformation. But, although meant to be simple, coding in XSLT can become quite a challenge, if the coding approach does not only depend on the structure of the source document, but the order of template application is also dictated by target document structure. This is the case especially when dealing with transformations between visual models. We propose to use a graph-based approach to simplify the transformation definition process where graphs representing documents are transformed in a rulebased manner, as in XSLT. The differences to XSLT are mainly that rules can be developed visually, are more abstract (since the order of execution does not depend on the target document), IDREFs are dealt with much more naturally, and due to typed transformations, the output document is guaranteed to be valid with respect to the target schema. Moreover, graph-based transformation definitions can be automatically reversed in most cases. This is especially useful in model transformation (e.g. in OMG’s MDA approach)

    LESS- Template-Based Syndication and Presentation of Linked Data

    Abstract. Recently, the publishing of structured, semantic information as linked data has gained quite some momentum. For ordinary users on the Internet, however, this information is not yet very visible and (re-) usable. With LESS we present an end-to-end approach for the syndication and use of linked data based on the definition of templates for linked data resources and SPARQL query results. Such syndication templates are edited, published and shared by using a collaborative Web platform. Templates for common types of entities can then be combined with specific, linked data resources or SPARQL query results and integrated into a wide range of applications, such as personal homepages, blogs/wikis, mobile widgets etc. In order to improve reliability and performance of linked data, LESS caches versions either for a certain time span or for the case of inaccessibility of the original source. LESS supports the integration of information from various sources as well as any text-based output formats. This allows not only to generate HTML, but also diagrams, RSS feeds or even complete data mashups without any programming involved.
