The two particle inclusive cross section for the reaction p+pˉγ+c+Xp +\bar{p}\rightarrow \gamma + c + X is studied in perturbative quantum chromodynamics at order O(αs2)O(\alpha ^2_s). Differential distributions are provided for various observables, and a comparison is made with data from the CDF collaboration.Comment: 4 pages, LaTeX, uses stwol.sty, 6 postscript figures. Associated Production of Charm and a Hard Photon

The two particle inclusive cross section for the reaction p+pˉγ+c+Xp +\bar{p}\rightarrow \gamma + c + X is studied in perturbative quantum chromodynamics at order O(αs2)O(\alpha ^2_s), for large values of the transverse momentum of the prompt photon and charm quark. Two different techniques are used in performing the phase-space integrals; the first is purely analytical, and the second is a combination of analytic and Monte Carlo integration methods. The second, more versatile technique facilitates imposition of photon isolation restrictions and other selections of relevance in experiments. Differential distributions are provided for various observables, and a comparison is made with preliminary data from the CDF collaboration.Comment: 6 pages. Water Quality Trends across Select 319 Monitoring Sites in Northwest Arkansas

    Get PDF
Northwest Arkansas contains two 319 priority watersheds that the Arkansas Natural Resources Commission has identified as being impacted by point source and nonpoint source pollution (i.e., phosphorus, nitrogen, and sediment). This project specifically focused on determining water quality trends at select sites within the Illinois River (HUC# 11110103) and Beaver Reservoir (HUC# 11010001) priority watersheds, including Ballard Creek, Osage Creek, Illinois River, White River, West Fork White River and the Kings River where sufficient constituent data were available. Water quality trends were analyzed using flow‐adjusted constituent concentrations of phosphorus, nitrogen, sediment, sulfate and chloride, and parametric and non‐parametric statistical techniques to determine if constituent concentrations were increasing, decreasing or not significantly changing over time. Overall, flow‐adjusted concentrations of phosphorus and sediment have been decreasing across these watersheds based upon both statistical approaches. The decrease in phosphorus was likely the most important observation, because most water quality concerns in this region have focused on elevated phosphorus concentrations in these transboundary watersheds. These trends can be used along with other watershed information to improve the knowledge of how past, current, and future management decisions have influenced the watershed

Per-Core DVFS with Switched-Capacitor Converters for Energy Efficiency in Manycore Processors

    Get PDF
Integrating multiple power converters on-chip improves energy efficiency of manycore architectures. Switched-capacitor (SC) dc-dc converters are compatible with conventional CMOS processes, but traditional implementations suffer from limited conversion efficiency. We propose a dynamic voltage and frequency scaling scheme with SC converters that achieves high converter efficiency by allowing the output voltage to ripple and having the processor core frequency track the ripple. Minimum core energy is achieved by hopping between different converter modes and tuning body-bias voltages. A multicore processor model based on a 28-nm technology shows conversion efficiencies of 90% along with over 25% improvement in the overall chip energy efficiency

Low relaxation rate in a low-Z alloy of iron

The longest relaxation time and sharpest frequency content in ferromagnetic precession is determined by the intrinsic (Gilbert) relaxation rate \emph{GG}. For many years, pure iron (Fe) has had the lowest known value of G=57 MhzG=\textrm{57 Mhz} for all pure ferromagnetic metals or binary alloys. We show that an epitaxial iron alloy with vanadium (V) possesses values of GG which are significantly reduced, to 35±\pm5 Mhz at 27% V. The result can be understood as the role of spin-orbit coupling in generating relaxation, reduced through the atomic number ZZ.Comment: 14 pages, 4 figure

The history and characteristics of troodos and olympus rose clover

    Get PDF
ROSE CLOVER is being produced and used in increasing quantities in south-western Australia. The first line named was designated Kondinin and five lines have now been given cultivar (variety) names. One of the first samples of rose clover, C.P.I. 13949, introduced into Western Australia proved to be a mixture of two very similar types, differing visibly only in leaf markings. The mixed sample was named Troodos,* and the selection from it, Olympus. This paper describes the origin of the two varieties, their history and characteristics

The history, characteristics and potential of Kondinin rose clover

Experimental and field performances of rose clover over fen years suggest that it will be increasingly used as a pasture legume in south-western Australia. A number of lines differing in maturity and leaf markings have been selected locally and given cultivar (variety) names The first of these lines to be selected was designated Kondinin. This paper describes its origin, history, characteristics and performance
