    Custom transistor layout design techniques for random telegraph signal noise reduction in CMOS image sensors

    Interface and near oxide traps in small gate area MOS transistors (gate area ,1 mm2) lead to RTS noise which implies the emergence of noisy pixels in CMOS image sensors. To reduce this noise, two simple and efficient layout techniques of custom transistors have been imagined. These techniques have been successfully implemented in an image sensor test chip fabricated in a 0.35 mm CMOS image sensor process. Experimental results demonstrate a significant reduction of the noisy pixels for the two different techniques

    The dynamic nature of today\u27s global economy places a premium on a firm\u27s ability to anticipate and to respond to customer needs as well as changing competitive pressures. Within this environment, developing a successful logistics strategy can be critical to the firm\u27s long-term competitive success. This paper looks at the potential for using the product life cycle (PLC) as a strategic framework in the logistics strategy planning process. Results of an empirical study that investigated the appropriate use of 43 logistics techniques across PLC stages are reported. By limiting ourselves to the employment of hot wires of 0.05 mm (0.002 in.) diameter, we obtained instruments which faithfully followed all the wind fluctuations of over 0.1 second and even much more rapid variations without any very great error

    The relationship of individual comorbid chronic conditions to diabetes care quality.

    ObjectiveMultimorbidity affects 26 million persons with diabetes, and care for comorbid chronic conditions may impact diabetes care quality. The aim of this study was to determine which chronic conditions were related to lack of achievement or achievement of diabetes care quality goals to determine potential targets for future interventions.Research design and methodsThis is an exploratory retrospective analysis of electronic health record data for 23 430 adults, aged 18-75, with diabetes who were seen at seven Midwestern US health systems. The main outcome measures were achievement of six diabetes quality metrics in the reporting year, 2011 (glycated haemoglobin (HbA1c) control and testing, low-density lipoprotein control and testing, blood pressure control, kidney testing). Explanatory variables were 62 chronic condition indicators. Analyses were adjusted for baseline patient sociodemographic and healthcare utilization factors.ResultsThe 62 chronic conditions varied in their relationships to diabetes care goal achievement for specific care goals. Congestive heart failure was related to lack of achievement of cholesterol management goals. Obesity was related to lack of HbA1c and BP control. Mental health conditions were related to both lack of achievement and achievement of different care goals. Three conditions were related to lack of cholesterol testing, including congestive heart failure and substance-use disorders. Of 17 conditions related to achieving control goals, 16 were related to achieving HbA1c control. One-half of the comorbid conditions did not predict diabetes care quality.ConclusionsFuture interventions could target patients at risk for not achieving diabetes care for specific care goals based on their individual comorbidities

    Synthesis, crystallographic characterization, and mechanical behavior of alumina chromia alloys

    Powder mixtures of Alumina and Chromia, blended in different proportions (1, 3, 5 and 10%wt) by attrition milling, were fired either by pressureless sintering in air and hot pressing under vacuum. The resulting materials, characterized by X-ray diffraction, Raman spectroscopy, SEM, hardness and fracture toughness showed that all the compositions form complete solid solution which maintain the same crystal structures of corundum; chromia addition retards materials' densification of pressureless fired samples but not that of hot-pressed samples. Data from Raman spectroscopy and SEM/EDXS showed the appearance of Ti- and Mn-based impurities near the indentation print, in particular on fractured grains. The addition of chromia improves hardness, but does not affect toughness which is, on the other hand, greatly influenced by materials\u2019 residual porosity

    Study of the Effect of L-PBF Technique Temporal Evolution on Microstructure, Surface Texture, and Fatigue Performance of Ti gr. 23 Alloy

    Titanium alloys are widely used in various technological fields due to their excellent performance. Since the early stages of the 3D printing concept, these alloys have been intensively used as materials for these processes. In this work, the evolution of the performance of the 3D printing process has been studied by analysing the microstructure and the mechanical properties, fatigue and tensile, of the Ti gr. 23 alloy produced by two different models of Concept Laser M2 Cusing machines (an old model and a more recent one). The process parameters recommended by the manufacturer were adopted for each machine. Both microstructural and surface texture characterisations were carried out to better correlate the differences with the production process technique. For the same purpose, tensile tests and microhardness profiles were obtained, while the dynamic mechanical properties were evaluated by means of fatigue tests aimed at determining the fatigue limit of the material using a staircase approach. The mechanical tests were carried out on specimens with three different orientations with respect to the building platform, using two different SLM techniques. The fatigue behaviour was then analysed by evaluating the fracture surfaces and, in particular, the crack nucleation sites. By comparing the calculated fatigue values with the results of local fatigue calculations, an estimate of the residual stresses near the crack nucleation site was obtained. The results showed that the specimens produced on a newer machine had lower roughness (about 10%), slightly higher ductility, and a higher fatigue limit (10–20 MPa) compared to the specimens produced with the same material but on older equipment

    Why Supply Chain Collaboration Fails: The Socio-Structural View Of Resistance To Collaboration Strategies

    Purpose The relational view posits that supply chain integration can be a source of competitive advantage. Few firms, however, successfully co-create value to attain supernormal relational rents. We therefore elaborate theory regarding the reasons why collaboration strategies fail. Design/methodology/approach This study employs a quasi-longitudinal, multi-case interview methodology to explore the reasons why collaboration strategies fail to deliver intended results. We interviewed managers at 49 companies in Period 1 and managers at 57 companies in Period 2. Fifteen companies participated in both rounds of interviews. Findings This paper builds and describes a taxonomy of relational resistors. We then explore how sociological and structural resistors reinforce each other to undermine collaborative behavior. Specifically, the interplay among resistors 1) obscures the true sources of resistance, 2) exacerbates a sense of vulnerability to non-collaborative behavior that reduces the willingness to invest in relational architecture, and 3) inhibits the development of essential relational skills and organizational routines. Originality/value This research identifies and describes the behaviors and processes that impede successful supply chain alliances. By delving into the interplay among relational resistors, the research explains the detail and nuance of inter-firm rivalry and supply chain complexity. Ultimately, it is the re-enforcing nature of various resistors that make it so difficult for firms have to realize relational rents
