Isotope thermometery in nuclear multifragmentation
A systematic study of the effect of fragmentfragment interaction, quantum
statistics, -feeding and collective flow is made in the extraction of
the nuclear temperature from the double ratio of the isotopic yields in the
statistical model of one-step (Prompt) multifragmentation. Temperature is also
extracted from the isotope yield ratios generated in the sequential
binary-decay model. Comparison of the thermodynamic temperature with the
extracted temperatures for different isotope ratios show some anomaly in both
models which is discussed in the context of experimentally measured caloric
curves.Comment: uuencoded gzipped file containing 20 pages of text in REVTEX format

Cation distribution in manganese cobaltite spinels Co3−xMnxO4 (0 ≤ x ≤ 1) determined by thermal analysis
Thermogravimetric analysis was used in order to study the reduction in air of submicronic powders of Co3−x Mn x O4 spinels, with 0 ≤ x ≤ 1. For x = 0 (i.e. Co3O4), cation reduction occurred in a single step. It involved the CoIII ions at the octahedral sites, which were reduced to Co2+ on producing CoO. For 0 < x ≤ 1, the reduction occurred in two stages at increasing temperature with increasing amounts of manganese. The first step corresponded to the reduction of octahedral CoIII ions and the second was attributed to the reduction of octahedral Mn4+ ions to Mn3+. From the individual weight losses and the electrical neutrality of the lattice, the CoIII and Mn4+ ion concentrations were calculated. The distribution of cobalt and manganese ions present on each crystallographic site of the spinel was determined. In contrast to most previous studies that took into account either CoIII and Mn3+ or Co2+, CoIII and Mn4+ only, our thermal analysis study showed that Co2+/CoIII and Mn3+/Mn4+ pairs occupy the octahedral sites. These results were used to explain the resistivity measurements carried out on dense ceramics prepared from our powders sintered at low temperature (700–750 °C) in a Spark Plasma Sintering apparatus
Isotopic and Microcanonical Temperatures in Nuclear Multifragmentation
A systematic comparison of different isotopic temperatures with the
thermodynamical temperature of a multifragment system is made on the basis of
the Statistical Multifragmentation Model. It is demonstrated that isotopic
temperatures are strongly affected by the secondary decays of hot primary
fragments and the population of particle-stable excited states in final
fragments. The He-Li temperatures, measured recently by the ALADIN group, are
reproduced fairly well both as a function of excitation energy and bound
charge. Our analysis confirms the anomaly in the nuclear caloric curve.Comment: 10 pages in LaTeX, 3 ps figures, accepted for publication in Phys.

Quasiparticle transport equation with collision delay. II. Microscopic Theory
For a system of non-interacting electrons scattered by neutral impurities, we
derive a modified Boltzmann equation that includes quasiparticle and virial
corrections. We start from quasiclassical transport equation for
non-equilibrium Green's functions and apply limit of small scattering rates.
Resulting transport equation for quasiparticles has gradient corrections to
scattering integrals. These gradient corrections are rearranged into a form
characteristic for virial corrections
Informative significance of serum cytokines and their importance for development of metabolic syndrome with arterial hypertension in elderly persons
Metabolic syndrome (MS) is among the main public health challenges worldwide, leading to significant labor losses, increased costs for treatment and rehabilitation of the patients. The aim of the present study was to identify the informative serum interleukins, by determining the odds ratio in elderly patients with MS and hypertension. The main group of 86 patients with MS and arterial hypertension (AH) aged 60-75 years was examined under clinical conditions. The inclusion criteria were as follows: age of 60-75 years, presence of MS, primary hypertension (grade II-III), absence of acute myocardial infarction, malignant neoplasms, disorders of cerebral circulation, kidney failure over last 6 months. Diagnostics of MS and hypertension was carried out in accordance with Expert Guidelines from the Russian Research Society of Cardiology on the MS Diagnosis and Treatment. Our first study of a large range of serum interleukins in elderly patients with MS and hypertension allowed us to reveal the inversely directed changes in pro- and anti-inflammatory cytokine contents. Combined AH/MS in elderly persons is accomplished by sufficient increase of the most proinflammatory cytokines, and vice versa, by significant decrease in anti-inflammatory cytokines in blood serum. This finding clearly points to importance of immunological regulatory systems for initiation of AH with MS at older age. Pro- and anti-inflammatory serum interleukins are actively involved into the AH/MS development in elderly accompanied by their pronounced imbalance. The mentioned immune reactions could underlie the MS/AH condition. High risk of this disorder is connected with changed production of proinflammatory cytokines (IL-8, IL-1β), like as anti-inflammatory serum interleukins (IL-4, IL-10), with predominance of the former. The above interleukins should be considered dominant diagnostic markers of AH/MS in elderly persons. Measurement of serum interleukins and discriminant-based approach allows highly reliable differentiation of elderly patients with AH/MS from similar individuals without this disorder
The influence of German legal doctrine on the formation of the principle of good faith in the civil law of the Russian Federation
The article discusses the formation of the principle of good faith in Russian civil law, influenced by German legal doctrine. It gives the main characteristics of the principle of good faith, adopted by Russian law-enforcement practice and theory from German doctrine. The paper draws the conclusion about the need for a deep understanding of the principle in order to prevent its application contrary to the objectives of this principl
Oxylipins from both pathogen and host antagonize jasmonic acid-mediated defence via the 9-lipoxygenase pathway in Fusarium verticillioides infection of maize
Oxylipins are a newly emerging group of signals that serve defence roles or promote virulence. To identify specific host and fungal genes and oxylipins governing the interactions between maize and Fusarium verticillioides, maize wild-type and lipoxygenase3 (lox3) mutant were inoculated with either F. verticillioides wild-type or linoleate-diol-synthase 1-deleted mutant (DFvlds1D). The results howed that lox3 mutants were more resistant to F. verticillioides. The reduced colonization on lox3 was associated with reduced fumonisin production and with a stronger and earlier induction of ZmLOX4, mLOX5 and ZmLOX12. In addition to the reported defence function of ZmLOX12, we showed that lox4 and lox5 mutants were more susceptible to F. verticillioides and possessed decreased jasmonate levels during infection, suggesting that these genes are essential for jasmonic acid (JA)-mediated defence. Oxylipin profiling revealed a dramatic reduction in fungal linoleate diol synthase 1 (LDS1)-derived oxylipins, especially 8-HpODE (8-hydroperoxyoctadecenoic acid), in infected lox3 kernels, indicating the importance of this molecule in virulence. Collectively, we make the following conclusions: (1) LOX3 is a major susceptibility factor induced by fungal LDS1-derived oxylipins to suppress JA-stimulating 9-LOXs; (2) LOX3-mediated signalling promotes the biosynthesis of virulence-promoting oxylipins in the fungus; and (3) both fungal LDS1- and host LOX3-produced oxylipins are essential for the normal infection and colonization processes of maize seed by F. verticillioides
