The study investigated the effect of flipped strategy on achievement in algebra concepts among secondary school students in Ikom Education Zone, Cross River State. Quasi- experimental research design was adopted for the study. The target population of the study consist of included all government senior secondary school class two (SSII) students in Ikom education zone during 2021/2022 academic session. A total sample of senior secondary school (SSII) students of forty-five males (45) and thirty-eight females (38) was used for the study Purposive multi-stage random sampling technique (stratified and simple sampling) was used to composed the sample. Three research objectives and questions guided the study, alongside with corresponding three hypotheses which was tested at 0.05 significance level. The study used Students Mathematics Achievement Test (SMAT). The instrument was developed by the researchers. The SELMQ consisting of 16 items to assess the effective participation of students in learning mathematics which was developed by the researchers. It has 4-point Likert type response scale in which respondents were expected to indicate in the column against each of the item The SMAT was used for data collection. The reliability of the instrument was established by the use of Kunder-Richardson K-21 to obtain an index of 0.85 used of Kunder-Richardson K-21. The research question were answered using Descriptive statistics, analysis of Co-variance (ANCOVA) was used to test the hypothesis at 0.05 level of significance. The finding revealed that flipped classroom instructional strategy has a significantly greater effect on students’ academic achievement in Mathematics than the teacher-centered approach. Based on the results of the findings, it was recommended among others that Cross River State Secondary school education board should deemed implementing the flipped classroom instructional strategy in Mathematics as it engages students dedication, interest and motivation in learning

The purpose of the study was to determine the level of statistics anxiety among undergraduate students, and whether the level is influenced by factors such as gender and age. A sample of 100 third year students who enrolled for basic statistics in the University of Calabar was used for the study. A series of t-tests revealed that the sampled students displayed significantly high level of statistics anxiety; and no factor differences. Recommendations were made accordingly. Limitation included the non-generalizability of results. Keywords: Statistics of Anxiety, Undergraduate and Education Student

Item response theory (IRT) is a framework for modeling and analyzing item response data. Item-level modeling gives IRT advantages over classical test theory. The fit of an item score pattern to an item response theory (IRT) models is a necessary condition that must be assessed for further use of item and models that best fit the data. The study investigated item level diagnostic statistics and model- data fit with one-and two- parameter models using IRTPROV3.0 and BILOG- MG V3.0. Ex-post facto design was adopted. The population for the study consisted of 11,538 candidates’ responses who took Type L 2014 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) Mathematics paper in Akwa Ibom State, Nigeria. The sample of 5,192(45%) responses was randomly selected through stratified sampling technique. BILOG-MG V3.0 and IRTPROV3.0 computer software was used to calibrate the candidates’ responses. Two research questions were raised to guide the study. Pearson’s χ2 and S - χ2 statistics as an item fit index for dichotomous item response theory models were used. The outputs from the two computer software were used to answer the questions. The findings revealed that only 1 item fitted 1- parameter model in BILOG- MG V3.0 and IRTPRO V3.0. Furthermore, the findings revealed that 26 items fitted 2-parameter models when using BILOG-MG V3.0. Five items fitted 2-parameter models in IRTPRO. It was recommended that the use of more than one IRT software programme offers more useful information for the choice of model that fit the data.KEYWORDS: Item Level, Diagnostics, Statistics, Model - Data Fit, Item Response Theory (IRT)

This study investigated the opinion of Academic Staff of Nigeria Universities regarding the utilization of university education students research findings in solving educational problems. The study sought to find out if government and private sector effectively utilize the university students research findings for improved productivity. A study sample of 100 academic staff (50 each) from Faculty of Education, University of Calabar and Faculty of Education, Cross River University of Technology, Calabar, Cross River State, Nigeria was used for the study. A 15-item questionnaire was used as the instrument for data collection. Two research hypotheses were formulated and tested at .05 level of probability, using the t-test statistics. The findings indicated that the level of utilization of students educational research findings is not significantly high. The study also discovered that the level of utilization of students’ research finding by government was not significantly different from that of the private sectors. Based on the findings, the researchers recommended that the Federal Government should establish a Ministry of Higher Education to collaborate with the National University Commission to draw government full attention on how to utilize students research findings. Some counselling implications were also enhanced. Keywords: Counselling, findings, government, Nigerian, private, research, sectors, students, university, utilization
