String breaking in lattice QCD
ManuscriptThe separation of a heavy quark and antiquark pair leads to the formation of a tube of flux, or string, which should break in the presence of light quark-antiquark pairs. This expected zero temperature phenomenon has proven elusive in simulations of lattice QCD. We present simulation results that show that the string does break in the confining phase at nonzero temperature

Emigrant Gap, looking East, Yuba Mountains in distance
The stereograph features a black and white image of the Central Pacific Railroad, a route between Utah and California and the western portion of the Transcontinental Railway. In the image, a locomotive can be seen on the portion of the railroad known at the Emigrant Gap. The image is mounted to an orange card with rounded corners.https://scholarsjunction.msstate.edu/fvw-photographs/1391/thumbnail.jp
