    New data on wild grey mullet (mugil cephalus linnaeus, 1758) myxosporean (myxobolus episquamalis egusa et al., 1990) in the black sea

    Flathead grey mullet, Mugil cephalus, with mass whitish cystlike plasmodia on their scales were collected at Kerchensky preglass of the Black Sea in 2015. The prevalence of infected fish varied from 15% in spring, reached 100% in summer, and declined to 2.5% in autumn. No fish mortality was detected. The spores were oval in frontal view, tapering to a blunt apex. Two unequal polar capsules were pyriform and extended over the anterior half of spore. Spores were 8.2\ub10.03 \u3bcm (7.9-8.4) long, 5.9\ub10.23 \u3bcm (5.2-7.3) wide, and 4.4\ub10.17 \u3bcm (4.0-4.7) thick. Two pyriform and unequal polar capsules were observed (4.0\ub10.07 \u3bcm (3.3-4.5) long, and 1.5\ub10.24 \u3bcm (1.1-1.8) wide). The investigation of nucleotide sequences of the 18S rDNA gene of the myxosporean spores from scales with universal primer A (5\u2032-ACCTGGTTGATCCTGCCAGT-3\u2032) and B (5\u2032-TGATCCTTCTGCAGGTTCACCTAC-3\u2032) showed 100% identity with episquamalis, and 99 % with M. bizerti, M. ichkeulensis, M. spinacurvata and Myxobolus sp. previously detected in mullets. The results obtained from the present study reveal that M. episquamalis, found on the scales of M. cephalus from Kerchensky preglass of the Black Sea, is new record for Russian waters

В философском смысле омотемия есть согласование в тексте разных эпистемических уровней; с позиций же лингвистики текста это возможность выражения одной категории средствами разных языковых уровней. На примере объемных структур-сеток «топос-темы» (темы-хронотопа) и «тропос-темы» (темы-тональности) в пьесе Т. Уильямса «Трамвай “Желание”» показана омотемия описания обстановки, выявлены основные специфические особенности русского перевода В. Неделина в сопоставлении с английским оригиналом.The article is focused on homothemy term development, suggested by V. N. Marov in his works of 2015–2020 referring to the linguotextual aspect. In the philosophical sense, homothemy is the agreement of different epistemic levels in the text; within text linguistics, it is the ability of one category to be expressed by means of different language levels. On the example of grid structures “topos-theme” (chronotope as a theme) and «tropos-themes» (tonality as a theme) in the play “A Streetcar Named Desire” by T. Williams, the homothemy of the surroundings description is shown, and the main specific features of the Russian translation by V. Nedelin are revealed as compared to the English original

    Evidence for an extensive hydrothermal plume in the Tonga-Fiji region of the South Pacific

The definitive version was published in Geochemistry Geophysics Geosystems 5 (2004): Q01003, doi:10.1029/2003GC000607.Several hydrographic stations in the vicinity of the Samoa Islands have 3He/4He above the regional background in the depth range of 1500–1800 m, indicating injection of mantle helium from a local hydrothermal source. The highest δ(3He) = 43.4% was detected at 1726-m depth at 15.0°S, 173.1°W in the bathymetric gap between the Samoa Islands and the northern end of the Tonga-Kermadec Arc. The δ(3He) profile at this station decreases to δ(3He) = 26% at 2500-m depth. The relatively shallow depth of the maximum hydrothermal signal suggests a source different from the conventional Pacific basin helium plume centered at 2500 m that is carried westward from the East Pacific Rise. Stations to the west of this locality show a progressive decrease in the maximum δ(3He) values in the depth range of 1480–1790 m out to 169°E. Stations east of the Tonga-Fiji region show lower 3He values (<26%) at 1700 m and the profiles are dominated by a deeper maximum at 2500 m, presumably the distal traces of hydrothermal input from East Pacific Rise. This pattern in the 3He distribution suggests that the 1700-m deep helium plume is carried in a northwesterly direction some 2000 km from its source near the northern end of the Tonga-Kermadec Arc. At this time very little is known about the source of this hydrothermal plume or the details of its areal extent. Numerous seamounts and rift zones in the region are possible hydrothermal sources for the plume. The summit crater of Vailulu'u, a young seamount at the eastern end of the Samoa chain, was recently discovered to be hydrothermally active at ∼600 m depth [Hart et al., 2000]. However this shallow hydrothermal field on Vailulu'u is an unlikely source for the deeper 1700-m signal. The most likely source would appear to be the extensional zones of the northern Lau Basin system, such as the Mangatolo Triple Junction. Just as the helium plume emanating from Lo'ihi has helped our understanding of the circulation near the Hawaiian Islands [Lupton, 1996], this helium plume in the Tonga-Fiji region has great potential for delineating circulation in this area of the south Pacific.This work was supported by the NOAA Vents Program and by Grants OCE91-05884, OCE92-96237, OCE92-96169, and OCE98-20132 of the Ocean Sciences Division of the National Science Foundation

    To reduce the cost of field tests of the ballistic objects (BO) simulators reflection properties, it is advisable to develop a model and algorithm for calculation of the radar objects effective surface scattering. As a simulator of ballistic objects a complex radar reflector, made of a lossfree dielectric is chosen. It looks like a spherical Luneburg lens with a coating of high-conductivity alloy as well as a truncated cone, disk, and cylindrical elements. The stages of aperture version of reflection from the inner surface of the Luneburg lens are proposed. A physical model of the reflection on the elements of design and the technique of modeling with a calculation algorithm of the effective surface scattering are developed. The algorithm of calculation of the ballistic objects resonance effective surface scattering is worked out. This algorithm is presented in a graphical form. The interface of the computing complex is presented. As a simulator of ballistic object we selected a complex radar reflector, made of a lossfree dielectric sphere with a coating of high-conductivity alloy as well as of a truncated cone, disk, and cylindrical elements. The comparative indicatrices of ballistic objects simulator are presented. The conclusion on the comparative analysis of the results of measurements in situ and modeling results is made. The examples of numerical calculations of the ESR of the head part of the BO simulator with increased ESR and increased all-aspect view are given. The options of the BO simulator head parts with increased ESR and increased all-aspect view with optimal placement of radar dielectric reflector and a corner unit with sectional placement of dielectric reflectors are analyzed.Для сокращения затрат на натурные испытания отражающих свойств имитаторов баллистических объектов (БО) целесообразно разработать модель и алгоритм для расчета эффективной поверхности рассеяния таких радиолокационных объектов. В качестве имитатора баллистических объектов выбирается сложный радиолокационный отражатель, изготовленный из диэлектрика без потерь в виде сферической линзы Люнеберга с покрытием из высокоэлектропроводного сплава, а также усеченного конуса, диска и цилиндрических элементов. Предложены этапы апертурного варианта отражения от внутренней поверхности линзы Люнеберга. Разработана физическая модель отражения на элементах конструкции и методика моделирования с алгоритмом расчета эффективной поверхности рассеяния. Разработан алгоритм расчета резонансной эффективной поверхности рассеяния баллистических объектов. Этот алгоритм представлен в графическом виде. Представлен интерфейс вычислительного комплекса. В качестве имитатора баллистического объекта выбран сложный радиолокационный отражатель, изготовленный из диэлектрика без потерь в виде сферы с покрытием из высокоэлектропроводного сплава, а также усеченного конуса, диска и цилиндрических элементов. Графически представлены сравнительные индикатрисы имитатора баллистических объектов. Сделан вывод по сравнительному анализу результатов измерения в натурных условиях и результатов моделирования. Приведены примеры численных расчетов ЭПР головной части имитатора БО с увеличенной ЭПР и увеличенной всеракурсностью обзора. Исследованы варианты головных частей имитатора БО с увеличенной ЭПР и увеличенной всеракурсностью обзора с оптимальным размещением радиолокационного диэлектрического отражателя и уголкового блока с секционным размещением диэлектрических отражателей

    Turbulence effects on an ambient pressure discharge

    This work reports on observations of a diffuse discharge in a turbulent air flow. The discharge power was monitored as a function of velocity and turbulence spectrum in a fixed electrode configuration. The flow direction was also reversed to check on the effect of convection. The flow increased the sparking voltage, and turbulence made the current distribution considerably more homogeneous; the discharge power increased from about l W with no flow to about 250 W with 60-m/sec grid-generated turbulent flow. This turbulence was most intense in the range between l and 10 kHz

    On Task Assignment in Data Intensive Scalable Computing

    Abstract. MapReduce and other Data-Intensive Scalable Computing paradigms have emerged as the most popular solution for processing massive data sets, a crucial task in surviving the “Data Deluge”. Recent works have shown that maintaining data locality is paramount to achieve high performance in such paradigms. To this end, suitable task assignment algorithms are needed. Current solutions use round-robin task assignment policies, which was shown to yield suboptimal results. In this paper, we propose and evaluate new algorithms for task assignment on a model of the Hadoop framework, comparing them with state-of-the-art solutions proposed in theoretical works as well as with the current Hadoop task assignment policies.
