The research was conducted to know technology-application level and elucidator part on “Kabau Antrada” group in Dhamasraya. Research method use was case study method with census taken sample, which mean all of the 21 person members kabau antrada group became respondent.. Observation and interviewed (questioners) was done to get primary data. The result shown that every topic has given increased the technology-application at kabau antrada group Koto Baru District Dhamasraya Regency. For example selection of breeding stock increased 76.19%, feed increased 73.47%, management improvement increases 74.83%, diseases prevention increased 71.43%, followed product selling 73.21%. The average of “panca USAha ternak” was 73.83%. Extension part not so deep on “kabau antrada” group even thought the average technology-packet on panca USAha tani has increased. These increasing caused of farmer experience and academicians part

The Impact of Oil Sector on the Global Competitiveness of the GCC Countries: Panel Data Approach

This study explores the impact of oil sector on global competitiveness of the GCC states in a panel data framework for the period from 2006 to 2014. The focus is placed on how the non-traditional factors; oil rents, fuel exports as percentage of merchandise exports, oil prices, and mining sector production impact on the global competitiveness of the GCC nations. The study uses panel data techniques to measure the effect of the oil sector’s impact on of global competitiveness of the GCC countries. The results of the regression show that the relation between rent and GCI found to be negative and highly significant whereas the oil prices and contribution of the mining sector in GDP found to have positive relation with GCI at 90% significance level. Finally, fuel exports as percentage of the merchandize exports has insignificant relation with GCI. Keywords: oil sector, global competitiveness, GCC countries, panel data. Acoustic sensing as a novel wearable approach for cardiac monitoring at the wrist

    Get PDF
This paper introduces the concept of using acoustic sensing over the radial artery to extract cardiac parameters for continuous vital sign monitoring. It proposes a novel measurement principle that allows detection of the heart sounds together with the pulse wave, an attribute not possible with existing photoplethysmography (PPG)-based methods for monitoring at wrist. The validity of the proposed principle is demonstrated using a new miniature, battery-operated wearable device to sense the acoustic signals and a novel algorithm to extract the heart rate from these signals. The algorithm utilizes the power spectral analysis of the acoustic pulse signal to detect the S1 sounds and additionally, the K-means method to remove motion artifacts for an accurate heartbeat detection. It has been validated on a dataset consisting of 12 subjects with a data length of 6 hours. The results demonstrate an accuracy of 98.78\%, mean absolute error of 0.28 bpm, limits of agreement between -1.68 and 1.69 bpm, and a correlation coefficient of 0.998 with reference to a state-of-the-art PPG-based commercial device. The results in this proof of concept study demonstrate the potential of this new sensing modality to be used as an alternative, or to complement existing methods, for continuous monitoring of heart rate at wrist

A novel method for automatic identification of respiratory disease from acoustic recordings.

This paper evaluates the use of breath sound recordings to automatically determine the respiratory health status of a subject. A number of features were investigated and Wilcoxon Rank Sum statistical test was used to determine the significance of the extracted features. The significant features were then passed to a feature selection algorithm based on mutual information, to determine the combination of features that provided minimal redundancy and maximum relevance. The algorithm was tested on a publicly accessible respiratory sounds database. With the testing dataset, the trained classifier achieved accuracy of 87.1%, sensitivity of 86.8% and specificity of 93.6%. These are promising results showing the possibility of determining the presence or absence of respiratory disease using breath sounds recordings

Soil Biology Contribution on Agricultural Land Suitability Evaluation of Wet Tropical Megabiodiversity Regions

Indonesia is in the region "wet tropical megabiodiversity" it would need to complete the system for agricultural land suitability evaluation in accordance with real conditions, thus increasing the value-added resources optimally and sustainable and accountable production investment. Soil organisms as a component of production support can act as an agent of energy and nutrient cycling in the soil, improving soil physical properties, and controlling pests and disease. For that soil, biological parameters that need to be considered in evaluating the suitability of land that already exist include: N-fixing or P-solubilizing bacteria groups that live symbiosis and free-living, the fungi solubilizing P and soil organic matter decomposition groups, BGA fixing and free-living N symbiotic groups, fauna groups are able to conserve soil organic matter and improve soil physical properties. Important steps that need to be done in the evaluation of land cover inventory of soil biological populations and its role on the growth of crops, and evaluate the suitability of the soil biological parameters of the functional value of commodity options

Question and Answer Relationship and Reading Comprehension Development Among the Sophomore Nursing Students

The research was administrated to answer the question “is there any significanceimprovement after they used the Question and Answer Relationship reading strategy?”The data were collected through pre-test and post-test, administered to 29 students andthe data was analyzed by using T-test.From the computation of the pre-test and post-test, the result showed that theparticipants\u27 comprehension achievement was improved through QAR strategy and thescore gained by the participants showed that there was a significant effect of QARstrategy. It is strong enough to improve the students\u27 reading comprehension. Theachievements showed that mean difference between pre-test and post-test is 8.7. Thetcounted = 6.37 > ttable = with significance level in 0.00. Standard error mean of the pretestis 1.15446 and post-test is 0.77600.The researcher hopes that the finding of present study could give some contribution tothe improvement on the teaching reading especially for the faculty of Education atUniversitas Advent Indonesia
