Baryonic contributions to the dilepton spectra in relativistic heavy ion collisions
We investigate the baryonic contributions to the dilepton yield in high
energy heavy ion collisions within the context of a transport model. The
relative contribution of the baryonic and mesonic sources are examined. It is
observed that most dominant among the baryonic channels is the decay of
N*(1520) and mostly confined in the region below the rho peak. In a transport
theory implementation we find the baryonic contribution to the lepton pair
yield to be small.Comment: 11 pages, 8 figure
Symmetric and anti-symmetric Landau parameters and magnetic properties of dense quark matter
We calculate the dimensionless Fermi liquid parameters (FLPs),
and , for spin asymmetric dense quark matter.
In general, the FLPs are infrared divergent due to the exchange of massless
gluons. To remove such divergences, the Hard Density Loop (HDL) corrected gluon
propagator is used. The FLPs so determined are then invoked to calculate
magnetic properties such as magnetization and magnetic
susceptibility of spin polarized quark matter. Finally, we investigate
the possibility of magnetic instability by studying the density dependence of

Use of dopamine antagonists on induced spawning of Indian major carps
To test the efficacy of the technique of using dopamine-antagonists with pituitary extracts, experiments were conducted in July/August '93, at the CIFE Fresh water Fish Farm, Powerkheda. In all, 35 sets (1 female x 2 male in each set) were tried individually. 19 sets were treated with Domperidone (DOM) and Carp Pituitary Extract (CPE) and they constituted the experimental sets, while the rest 16 were treated with CPE and formed the control sets. The breeding, complete ovulation and hatching was 84.2%, 87.5% and 85.7%, respectively in the experimental sets whereas it was 93.7%, 60% and 72.7%, respectively in case of control sets. Experimental sets yielded 1.20 lakh spawn/kg body wt. (female) as compared to 0.83 lakh spawn kg body wt. (female) received from control sets on average basis. When DOM was used at 50-60% there was 100% breeding success but when increased to 70%, breeding rate fell to 66%. In mass breeding of Catla in the circular hatchery DOM mixed with CPE in 50:50 ratio gave excellent results
Energy and momentum relaxation of heavy fermion in dense and warm plasma
We determine the drag and the momentum diffusion coefficients of heavy
fermion in dense plasma. It is seen that in degenerate matter drag coefficient
at the leading order mediated by transverse photon is proportional to
while for the longitudinal exchange this goes as . We
also calculate the longitudinal diffusion coefficient to obtain the Einstein
relation in a relativistic degenerate plasma. Finally, finite temperature
corrections are included both for the drag and the diffusion coefficients.Comment: 8 pages, 1 eps figure, typos corrected and paragraphs rearranged.

Aspects of meson properties in dense nuclear matter
We investigate the modification of meson spectral densities in dense nuclear
matter at zero temperature. These effects are studied in a fully relativistic
mean field model which goes beyond the linear density approximation and also
includes baryon resonances. In particular, the role of N*(1520) and N*(1720) on
the rho meson spectral density is highlighted. Even though the nucleon-nucleon
loop and the nucleon-resonance loop contribute with the opposite sign, an
overall reduction of rho meson mass is still observed at high density.
Importantly, it is shown that the resonances cause substantial broadening of
the rho meson spectral density in matter and also induces non-trivial momentum
dependence. The spectral density of the a0 meson is also shown. We study the
dispersion relations and collective oscillations induced by the rho meson
propagation in nuclear matter together with the influence of the mixing of rho
with the a0 meson. The relevant expression for the plasma frequency is also
recovered analytically in the appropriate limit.Comment: 19 pages, 17 figure
