STRUCTURE CHANGES OF FRUIT PRODUCTION OF REPUBLIC OF SERBIA
The share of fruit area in total cultivable area of Serbia in the investigated
period (1980-2003) is 5.58% showing the tendency of slight increasing. In 2002
the plum is the leading fruit species showing the decrease of its share in total
fruit production of Serbia. Plums have the share of 56.0% in total number of
trees of productive age and 45.85% in total realized fruit production. In the fruit
production structure of Serbia the second and third place have apple and sour
cherry
Thermal resistance testing of standard and protective filtering military garment on the burning napalm mixture
Fires are an accompanying manifestation in modern weaponry use and in various accidents in peacetime. The standard military uniform is a primary barrier in protection of a soldier's body from all external influences, including the thermal ones which can cause burns. The minimum thermal resistance to the effect of burning napalm mixture (BNM) in individual uniform garment materials was determined, and found to be higher for simultaneous use of more materials one over another (the so called sandwich materials), where the best thermal protection was exhibited by sandwich materials with an air interspace. The requirement for the thermal resistance of the material of the filtrating protective suit (FPS) to the effect of BNM (ā„ 15 s) was fully met. The highest thermal resistance was demonstrated by the FPS whose inner layer was made of polyurethane foam with active carbon. The FPS thermal resistance to the effect of BNM was found to be proportional to water vapor permeability through this garment mean, and inversely proportional to air permeability.
Discovery of 1-benzhydryl piperazine-based HDAC inhibitors with anti-cancer and anti-metastatic properties against human breast cancer: synthesis, molecular modeling, in vitro and in vivo biological evaluation
Isoform-selective histone deacetylase (HDAC) inhibition is promoted as a rational strategy to develop safer anti-cancer drugs compared to non-selective HDAC inhibitors. Despite this presumed benefit, considerably more non-selective HDAC inhibitors have undergone clinical trials. In this report, we detail the design and discovery of potent HDAC inhibitors with 1-benzhydryl piperazine as a surface recognition group that differ in hydrocarbon linker. Surprisingly, in vitro HDAC screening identified two selective HDAC6 inhibitors (6b, IC50 = 186 nM and 9b, IC50 = 31 nM), as well as two non-selective nanomolar HDAC inhibitors (7b and 8b). The influence of linker chemistry of synthesized inhibitors on HDAC6 potency was studied using structure-based molecular modelling. The breast cancer cell-lines (MDA-MB-231 and MCF-7) were used to evaluate compound mediated in vitro anti-cancer, anti-migratory, and anti-invasive activities, leading to 8b as the most promising compound. In our study, 8b is identified as the HDAC inhibitor with very potent anti-angiogenic, anti-metastatic and anti-tumor effects in zebrafish MDA-MB-231 xenograft models at low micromolar concentrations

A genetic probe into the ancient and medieval history of Southern Europe and West Asia
Literary and archaeological sources have preserved a rich history of Southern Europe and West Asia since the Bronze Age that can be complemented by genetics. Mycenaean period elites in Greece did not differ from the general population and included both people with some steppe ancestry and others, like the Griffin Warrior, without it. Similarly, people in the central area of the Urartian Kingdom around Lake Van lacked the steppe ancestry characteristic of the kingdomās northern provinces. Anatolia exhibited extraordinary continuity down to the Roman and Byzantine periods, with its people serving as the demographic core of much of the Roman Empire, including the city of Rome itself. During medieval times, migrations associated with Slavic and Turkic speakers profoundly affected the region
