We present a review of BaBar results on e+e- annihilations into exclusive
hadronic final states using the initial state radiation technique. Cross
sections over the sqrt{s} range from threshold to 4.5 GeV, with very small
point-to-point systematic errors, are presented for the 3pi, 2(pi+ pi-), 3(pi+
pi-), 2(pi+ pi-)2pi0, K+ K- pi+ pi-, 2(K+ K-) and p anti-p final states. The
proton form factor and the ratio of its electric and magnetic components are
also presented.Comment: 5 pages, 11 figures, to be published in the Proceedings of the 12th

Transboundary clusters in the coastal zones of the European part of Russia: inventory, typology, factors, and prospects
This article presents an inventory and a typology of the existing and emerging economic clusters in the coastal zone of the European part of Russia. The authors hold that transboundary clustering takes priority in the Baltic coastal region - nine of the 56 clusters identified are located in the Kaliningrad region and another eight in Saint Petersburg and the Leningrad region. The authors describe major catalysts and immanent inhibitors in coastal zones. The former include a high density of coastal economies, proximity to international markets, and better logistics and communications. The inhibitors comprise geopolitical risks and institutional barriers. It is shown that the potential and prospects of transboundary clustering are affected by both global integration and disintegration patterns, coastal infrastructure, geopolitical and geoeconomic "neighbourhood", cultural excellence, and business and investment environment
Experimental Determination of the Characteristics of a Positron Source Using Channeling
Numerical simulations and `proof of principle' experiments showed clearly the
interest of using crystals as photon generators dedicated to intense positron
sources for linear colliders. An experimental investigation, using a 10 GeV
secondary electron beam, of the SPS-CERN, impinging on an axially oriented
thick tungsten crystal, has been prepared and operated between May and August
2000. After a short recall on the main features of positron sources using
channeling in oriented crystals, the experimental set-up is described. A
particular emphasis is put on the positron detector made of a drift chamber,
partially immersed in a magnetic field. The enhancement in photon and positron
production in the aligned crystal have been observed in the energy range 5 to
40 GeV, for the incident electrons, in crystals of 4 and 8 mm as in an hybrid
target. The first results concerning this experiment are presented hereafter.Comment: 3 pages, 6 figures, submitted to Linac200
The Development Of Optimization Methods For Knowledge Base Enrichment Processes
The paper presents the concept of approach to the research and evaluation of the processes of intellectual activity associated with the enrichment of the knowledge base. A feature of the research of the process dynamics is the need of simultaneous consideration of such diverse factors as the complexity of information perception, the presence of the deviations of the response from the standard in the process of reproduction and accounting of the test time.A significant influence on the methods of optimization of the knowledge base enrichment process is exerted by a considerable duration of the task learning process. This causes the use of the multifactor experimental design theory to accelerate the progress towards the optimum. The research results can be used in the development of technologies for efficient knowledge assimilation, automation of skills, and also in the development of expert systems for diagnostics of the processes of intellectual activity
