The Coulomb Sum and Proton-Proton Correlations in Few-Body Nuclei
In simple models of the nuclear charge operator, measurements of the Coulomb
sum and the charge form factor of a nucleus directly determine the
proton-proton correlations. We examine experimental results obtained for
few-body nuclei at Bates and Saclay using models of the charge operator that
include both one- and two-body terms. Previous analyses using one-body terms
only have failed to reproduce experimental results. However, we find that the
same operators which have been used to successfully describe the charge form
factors also produce substantial agreement with measurements of the Coulomb

Relational Solidarity and Conflicting Ethics in Dementia Care in Urban India.
OBJECTIVES: Using the concept of relational solidarity, we examine how autonomy, equality, dignity, and personhood are practiced in the care of people living with dementia at home in urban India. METHODS: Video interviews with 19 family carers and 25 health providers conducted in English, Hindi, and Kannada in Bengaluru between March and July 2022. Data were translated into English and thematically analyzed. RESULTS: Family carers and providers unanimously agreed that people with dementia should be respected and cared for. Concurrently, they perceived people with dementia as being "like a kid" and used the analogy of a parent-child relationship to understand their care responsibilities. This analogy informed how ethical principles such as personhood and equality were reframed in the relationships between family carers and people with dementia, as well as how carers and providers maintained the safety but undermined the autonomy of people with dementia through restricting their movements inside and outside the home. DISCUSSION: There can be relational solidarity in dementia care at home in urban India but also contradictions in the interpretations and applications of the ethical principles of autonomy, equality, dignity, and personhood. As such, a more organic, grassroots model of ethical practice is needed to frame care and provide material support to families in India
The Strange Quark Contribution to the Proton's Magnetic Moment
We report a new determination of the strange quark contribution to the
proton's magnetic form factor at a four-momentum transfer Q2 = 0.1 (GeV/c)^2
from parity-violating e-p elastic scattering. The result uses a revised
analysis of data from the SAMPLE experiment which was carried out at the
MIT-Bates Laboratory. The data are combined with a calculation of the proton's
axial form factor GAe to determine the strange form factor GMs(Q2=0.1)=0.37 +-
0.20 +- 0.26 +- 0.07. The extrapolation of GMs to its Q2=0 limit and comparison

Correlations, spectral gap, and entanglement in harmonic quantum systems on generic lattices
We investigate the relationship between the gap between the energy of the
ground state and the first excited state and the decay of correlation functions
in harmonic lattice systems. We prove that in gapped systems, the exponential
decay of correlations follows for both the ground state and thermal states.
Considering the converse direction, we show that an energy gap can follow from
algebraic decay and always does for exponential decay. The underlying lattices
are described as general graphs of not necessarily integer dimension, including
translationally invariant instances of cubic lattices as special cases. Any
local quadratic couplings in position and momentum coordinates are allowed for,
leading to quasi-free (Gaussian) ground states. We make use of methods of
deriving bounds to matrix functions of banded matrices corresponding to local
interactions on general graphs. Finally, we give an explicit entanglement-area
relationship in terms of the energy gap for arbitrary, not necessarily

Narrow genetic base in forest restoration with holm oak (Quercus ilex L.) in Sicily
In order to empirically assess the effect of actual seed sampling strategy on
genetic diversity of holm oak (Quercus ilex) forestations in Sicily, we have
analysed the genetic composition of two seedling lots (nursery stock and
plantation) and their known natural seed origin stand by means of six nuclear
microsatellite loci. Significant reduction in genetic diversity and significant
difference in genetic composition of the seedling lots compared to the seed
origin stand were detected. The female and the total effective number of
parents were quantified by means of maternity assignment of seedlings and
temporal changes in allele frequencies. Extremely low effective maternity
numbers were estimated (Nfe 2-4) and estimates accounting for both
seed and pollen donors gave also low values (Ne 35-50). These values
can be explained by an inappropriate forestry seed harvest strategy limited to
a small number of spatially close trees
Critical Velocity of Vortex Nucleation in Rotating Superfluid 3He-A
We have measured the critical velocity v_c at which 3He-A in a rotating
cylinder becomes unstable against the formation of quantized vortex lines with
continuous (singularity-free) core structure. We find that v_c is distributed
between a maximum and minimum limit, which we ascribe to a dependence on the
texture of the orbital angular momentum l(r) in the cylinder. Slow cool down
through T_c in rotation yields l(r) textures for which the measured v_c's are
in good agreement with the calculated instability of the expected l texture.Comment: 4 pages, 3 figure
A unified approach for the solution of the Fokker-Planck equation
This paper explores the use of a discrete singular convolution algorithm as a
unified approach for numerical integration of the Fokker-Planck equation. The
unified features of the discrete singular convolution algorithm are discussed.
It is demonstrated that different implementations of the present algorithm,
such as global, local, Galerkin, collocation, and finite difference, can be
deduced from a single starting point. Three benchmark stochastic systems, the
repulsive Wong process, the Black-Scholes equation and a genuine nonlinear
model, are employed to illustrate the robustness and to test accuracy of the
present approach for the solution of the Fokker-Planck equation via a
time-dependent method. An additional example, the incompressible Euler
equation, is used to further validate the present approach for more difficult
problems. Numerical results indicate that the present unified approach is
robust and accurate for solving the Fokker-Planck equation.Comment: 19 page
Measurement of the Proton's Neutral Weak Magnetic Form Factor
We report the first measurement of the parity-violating asymmetry in elastic
electron scattering from the proton. The asymmetry depends on the neutral weak
magnetic form factor of the proton which contains new information on the
contribution of strange quark-antiquark pairs to the magnetic moment of the
proton. We obtain the value n.m. at
