Crystal structures and topological analysis of ag(i) complexes with 1,4-heterodisupstituted cyclohexanes
International audienceSilver nitrate and silver perchlorate were combined with thiomorpholine-4-carbonitrile (L1) and piperazine-1,4-dicarbonitrile (L2) to observe the effect of small structural changes in used ligands on the final structures. Reactions with L1 yield {[Ag(L1) 2 ](NO 3)} n (1) and {[Ag(L1) 2 ](ClO 4)} n (2), while L2 reactions produce {[Ag(L2) 2 ](NO 3)×H 2 O} n (3) and {[Ag(L2) 2 ](ClO 4)} n (4). The XRPD investigation indicates that the samples 1-4 correspond to the single-phase X-ray powder patterns in accordance with the structural model obtained by SCXRD. Topological analysis suggests that 1 and 2 are two-dimensional structures that have a sql underlying topology, while 3 and 4 are three-dimensional metal-organic frameworks with dia underlying nets. In 3, the MOF comprises five interpenetrating networks related by 6.67 Å translations along the [100] direction (interpenetration class Ia) [1]. In 4, there are two crystallographically different Ag(I) ions. The first one builds two interpenetrating networks related by 12.61 Å translations along the [100] direction (interpenetration class Ia) [1]. The second Ag(I) ion gives four interpenetrating networks related both by 12.61 Å translations along the [100] direction and by an inversion centre (interpenetration class IIIa) [1]. An atlas of cell types in the mouse epididymis and vas deferens
Following testicular spermatogenesis, mammalian sperm continue to mature in a long epithelial tube known as the epididymis, which plays key roles in remodeling sperm protein, lipid, and RNA composition. To understand the roles for the epididymis in reproductive biology, we generated a single-cell atlas of the murine epididymis and vas deferens. We recovered key epithelial cell types including principal cells, clear cells, and basal cells, along with associated support cells that include fibroblasts, smooth muscle, macrophages and other immune cells. Moreover, our data illuminate extensive regional specialization of principal cell populations across the length of the epididymis. In addition to region-specific specialization of principal cells, we find evidence for functionally specialized subpopulations of stromal cells, and, most notably, two distinct populations of clear cells. Our dataset extends on existing knowledge of epididymal biology, and provides a wealth of information on potential regulatory and signaling factors that bear future investigation
Preimplantation development regulatory pathway construction through a text-mining approach
BACKGROUND: The integration of sequencing and gene interaction data and subsequent generation of pathways and networks contained in databases such as KEGG Pathway is essential for the comprehension of complex biological processes. We noticed the absence of a chart or pathway describing the well-studied preimplantation development stages; furthermore, not all genes involved in the process have entries in KEGG Orthology, important information for knowledge application with relation to other organisms. RESULTS: In this work we sought to develop the regulatory pathway for the preimplantation development stage using text-mining tools such as Medline Ranker and PESCADOR to reveal biointeractions among the genes involved in this process. The genes present in the resulting pathway were also used as seeds for software developed by our group called SeedServer to create clusters of homologous genes. These homologues allowed the determination of the last common ancestor for each gene and revealed that the preimplantation development pathway consists of a conserved ancient core of genes with the addition of modern elements. CONCLUSIONS: The generation of regulatory pathways through text-mining tools allows the integration of data generated by several studies for a more complete visualization of complex biological processes. Using the genes in this pathway as "seeds" for the generation of clusters of homologues, the pathway can be visualized for other organisms. The clustering of homologous genes together with determination of the ancestry leads to a better understanding of the evolution of such process
Aerobic Copper-Mediated Domino Three-Component Approach to 2-Aminobenzothiazole Derivatives
An unprecedented three-component reaction involving a 2,2′-diaminodiaryl disulfide, copper cyanide, and an electrophile is described. This transformation is based on an oxidative copper-mediated S-cyanation as a key step and involves a cyanation/cyclization/acylation domino sequence enabling a rapid and efficient synthesis of diversely substituted 2-aminobenzothiazole derivatives. Notably, this reaction proceeds via an original mechanism involving an intermolecular migration of the acyl group

On the operation of a Micropattern Gaseous UV-Photomultiplier in Liquid-Xenon
Operation results are presented of a UV-sensitive gaseous photomultiplier
(GPM) coupled through a MgF2 window to a liquid-xenon scintillator. It
consisted of a reflective CsI photocathode deposited on top of a THick Gaseous
Electron Multiplier (THGEM); further multiplication stages were either a second
THGEM or a Parallel Ionization Multiplier (PIM) followed by a MICROMEsh GAseous
Structure (MICROMEGAS). The GPM operated in gas-flow mode with non-condensable
gas mixtures. Gains of 10^4 were measured with a CsI-coated double-THGEM
detector in Ne/CH4 (95:5), Ne/CF4 (95:5) and Ne/CH4/CF4 (90:5:5), with soft
X-rays at 173 K. Scintillation signals induced by alpha particles in liquid
xenon were measured here for the first time with a double-THGEM GPM in He/CH4
(92.5:7.5) and a triple-structure THGEM/PIM/MICROMEGAS GPM in Ne/CH4 (90:10)
with a fast-current preamplifier.Comment: 12 pages, 9 figures, submitted to JINS
