AIM: To investigate the clinical effect of corneal layer plate removal with Fluconazole injected corneal stroma and autologous conjunctival transplantation for keratomycosis.<p>METHODS: There were 168 cases suffered keratomycosis that the focus located shallow of the cornea and was not obvious to drug, who registered in our hospital from March 2005 to June 2010. In surgery we removed plate layer to cormea clear, the region was greater than focus for 0.5mm,then we injected fluconazole which is 2g/L density in corneal stroma to make the edema area greater than Removal of area for 0.5mm. At last we took pedicle conjunctival flap to cover the plant bed by continuous suture. Postoperative day use drug to drop eye and to observe that whether recurrent of the keratomycosis and how was the edema degrade, the blood supply of conjunctival graft pieces, how about the stimulating signs of the surgery eye, the vision.<p>RESULTS: The improvement rate was 96.2% after surgery for seven days and the cure rate was 95.5% after surgery for one months. We found in 157 eyes accepted trigeminy surgery there were 6 eyes recurrence and the recurrence rate was 3.8%. The mean time of corneal stromal edema faded away was 13.4 hours. After surgery for one month there were 39 eyes(24.8%)whose vision removed than preoperative, there were 91 eyes(58.0%)whose vision were same as preoperative and there were 27 eyes(17.2%)whose vision lower than preoperative. In these operations the loss ratio of corneal endothelium was from 0%-8%, the mean was 2.9%. The irritative symptoms postoperative were mild for 87%, moderate for 10% and severe for 3%. By this surgery the mean length of stay was 7.3 days so the mean hospitalization expenses only were 2160 RMB. Three months after surgery, 4 cases were slight corneal ectasia.<p>CONCLUSION: This operation combined corneal layer plate removal, Fluconazole injected corneal stroma and autologous conjunctival transplantation for keratomycosis which was in early-to-mid was affordable and curative effect. So which could be used in some district which shortage the cornea donor

Thermal management of the hotspots in 3-D integrated circuits

Vertical integration for microelectronics possesses significant challenges due to its fast dissipation of heat generated in multiple device planes. This paper focuses on thermal management of a 3-D integrated circuit, and micro-channel cooling is adopted to deal with the 3-D integrated circuitthermal problems. In addition, thermal through-silicon vias are also used to improve the capacity of heat trans-mission. It is found that combination of microchannel cooling and thermal through-silicon vias can remarkably alleviate the hotspots. The results presented in this paper are expected to aid in the development of thermal design guidelines for 3-D integrated circuits

Ultrafast Relaxation Dynamics of Photoexcited Dirac Fermion in The Three Dimensional Dirac Semimetal Cadmium Arsenide

Three dimensional (3D) Dirac semimetals which can be seen as 3D analogues of graphene have attracted enormous interests in research recently. In order to apply these ultrahigh-mobility materials in future electronic/optoelectronic devices, it is crucial to understand the relaxation dynamics of photoexcited carriers and their coupling with lattice. In this work, we report ultrafast transient reflection measurements of the photoexcited carrier dynamics in cadmium arsenide (Cd3As2), which is one of the most stable Dirac semimetals that have been confirmed experimentally. By using low energy probe photon of 0.3 eV, we probed the dynamics of the photoexcited carriers that are Dirac-Fermi-like approaching the Dirac point. We systematically studied the transient reflection on bulk and nanoplate samples that have different doping intensities by tuning the probe wavelength, pump power and lattice temperature, and find that the dynamical evolution of carrier distributions can be retrieved qualitatively by using a two-temperature model. This result is very similar to that of graphene, but the carrier cooling through the optical phonon couplings is slower and lasts over larger electron temperature range because the optical phonon energies in Cd3As2 are much lower than those in graphene

Perineuronal sulfated proteoglycans and cell surface glycoproteins in the visual cortex of adult and newborn cats

Sections of the visual cortex of newborn (1-4 weeks after birth) and adult cats were stained with cationic iron colloid, aldehyde fuchsin or lectins (lectin Vicia villosa, soybean and Wisteria floribunda agglutinins). Many neurons in the adult cat visual cortex contained perineuronal sulfated proteoglycans detectable with cationic iron colloid and aldehyde fuchsin, or cell surface glycoproteins reactive to lectins. Double staining indicated that some of the lectin-labeled neurons were not stained with cationic iron colloid, and also that some of the cationic iron colloid-stained neurons were not labeled with lectins. The perineuronal sulfated proteoglycans and cell surface glycoproteins developed 3 weeks after birth. In the newborn cats 1-2 weeks after birth, no neurons were reactive to cationic iron colloid, aldehyde fuchsin or lectins. In the newborn cats 34 weeks after birth, it was clearly observed that the cytoplasm of the glial cells closely associated with the neurons containing the perineuronal sulfated proteoglycans showed an intense reaction to cationic iron colloid and aldehyde fuchsin, and that the Golgi complexes of the neurons with cell surface glycoproteins were intensely labeled with lectins. These findings suggest that the perineuronal sulfated proteoglycans are derived from the associated glial cells, and that the cell surface glycoproteins are produced by the associated nerve cells.</p

<p>Abstract</p> <p>Background</p> <p>Ninety-one rodent plague epidemics have occurred in Lianghe county, Yunnan Province, China, between 1990 and 2006. This study aimed to identify predictors for the presence and abundance of small mammals in households of villages endemic for rodent plague in Lianghe county.</p> <p>Results</p> <p><it>Rattus flavipectus </it>and <it>Suncus murinus </it>were the two species captured in 110 households. Keeping cats decreased the number of captures of <it>R. flavipectus </it>by one to two thirds and the chance of reported small mammal sightings in houses by 60 to 80%. Food availability was associated with fewer captures. Keeping food in sacks decreased the small mammal captures, especially of <it>S. murinus </it>4- to 8-fold. Vegetables grown around house and maize grown in the village reduced the captures of <it>S. murinus </it>and <it>R. flavipectus </it>by 73 and 45%, respectively. An outside toilet and garbage piles near the house each reduced <it>R. flavipectus </it>captures by 39 and 37%, respectively, while raising dogs and the presence of communal latrines in the village increased <it>R. flavipectus </it>captures by 76 and 110% but were without detectable effect on small mammal sightings. Location adjacent to other houses increased captures 2-fold but reduced the chance of sightings to about half. In addition, raising ducks increased the chance of sighting small mammals 2.7-fold. Even after adjusting for these variables, households of the Dai had higher captures than those of the Han and other ethnic groups.</p> <p>Conclusion</p> <p>Both species captures were reduced by availability of species-specific foods in the environment, whereas other predictors for capture of the two species differed. Other than the beneficial effect of cats, there were also discrepancies between the effects on small mammal captures and those on sightings. These differences should be considered during the implementation and interpretation of small mammal surveys.</p
