Novel insights into maintaining genomic integrity: Wee1 regulating Mus81/Eme1

Maintenance of genomic integrity is essential for cell survival. Specifically, during DNA replication cells use a complex network of mechanisms that prevents genomic instability. Recently, we and others identified Wee1, a serine/threonine and tyrosine kinase, as a new modulator of the genomic stability during S phase. Loss of its activity causes a general DNA damage response activation and a decrease in replication fork speed. These effects are counteracted by the downregulation of the endonuclease complex Mus81-Eme1, showing a new link between this endonuclease and Wee1 during DNA replication. Here we discuss the function of Wee1 in genomic stability and its relationship with the Mus81-Eme1 complex

El sueño de Carlomagno y los destinatarios de la Epístola Leonis

In this work there is studied the episode of the appearance of the apostle Santiago to Charlemagne contained in the book IV of the Codex Calixtinus. The anachronism of this fact is justified with the Epístola Leonis (contained in the book III of the Codex), probably of the century XI, which is a history attributed to a pope León arid directed the kings of Francs, Romans, Goth and Vandal, that had reigned three centuries before that Charlemagne. Across this Epístola of fiction the Emperor would have news of the existence of the sepulcher of the Apostle in Europa's limits before his invention in the year 818.En este trabajo se estudia el episodio de la aparición del apóstol Santiago a Carlomagno, contenido en el libro IV del Codex Calixtinus. El anacronismo de este hecho es justificado con la denominada Epistola Leonis (contenida en el libro III del Codex), probablemente del siglo XI, que es una narración atribuida a un papa León y dirigida a los reyes de Francos, Romanos, Godos y Vándalos, que habían reinado tres siglos antes que Carlomagno. A través de esta Epistola de ficción el Emperador tendría noticia de la existencia del sepulcro del Apóstol en los confínes de Europa con anterioridad a su invención en el año 818

Mayetia (Mayetia) anforiformis and Mayetia (Mayetia) adentisformis new species from Cáceres (Spain) (Coleoptera, Pselaphidae, Pselaphinae, Mayetiini)

Se describen las especies Mayetia (Mayetia) anforiformis y Mayetia (Mayetia) adentisformis nov. spp. (Coleoptera, Pselaphidae, Mayetiini), a partir del estudio de 56 ejemplares recogidos con el método Berlese en Salvatierra de Santiago y Madroñera, provincia de Cáceres, Extremadura. Se detallan sus características morfológicas externas, edeagos y armaduras genitales de las hembras. Se establecen tambien sus afinidades y diferencias con las especies Mayetia (Mayetia) guixolensis Coiffait, 1961 de San Feliu de Guixols (Gerona), Mayetia (Mayetia) gavarrensis Coiffait, 1961 de Romanyà de la Selva (Gerona) y con Mayetia (Mayetia) cauriensis Outerelo & Gamarra, 1988 de Cañaveral y Mayetia (Mayetia) ortunoi Outerelo & Gamarra 1994 de Las Ventas con Peña Aguilera-San Pablo de los Montes (Toledo).Mayetia (Mayetia) anforiformis and Mayetia (Mayetia) adentisformis new species from the Iberian Peninsula (Coleoptera: Pselaphidae, Mayetiini) based on the study of 56 specimens collected using the Berlese method in Salvatierra de Santiago and Madroñera, Cáceres province, Extremadura. Cambios del burnout académico, engagement y la salud mental durante un semestre de estudio

A cross-sectional study was carried out in order to establish the changes of academic burnout, engagement and mental health in Engineering and Health Sciences students at the beginning and at the end of a semester of study. The participants were 145 students between 16-36 years old of a Colombian public university, evaluated in February 2015 - June 2015 by the Maslach Burnout Inventory Survey to students, Utrecht Work Engagement Scale, Symptom Inventory 90-R. The results indicate increases of exhaustion and cynicism, as well as reduction of dedication and depression during the semester; burnout is more severe in Engineering at the beginning of semester, while the engagement is greater in Health Sciences. It is concluded that there are changes in the rise of exhaustion (exhaustion-cynicism), decrease in engagement (dedication) and mental health, especially regarding the symptoms of depression, in addition to the distinction of burnout-engagement in Engineering and Health Sciences at the beginning of semester.Se realizó un estudio transversal repetido que tuvo por objetivo establecer los cambios del burnout académico, engagement y la salud mental en estudiantes de Ingenierías y Ciencias de la Salud al inicio y final de un semestre de estudio. Los participantes fueron 145 estudiantes entre 16 y 36 años de una universidad pública colombiana, evaluados en febrero 2015- junio 2015 por el Maslach Burnout Inventory Student Survey, Utrecht Work Engagement Scale Inventario de Síntomas 90-R. Los resultados indican incrementos del agotamiento y cinismo, y reducción de la dedicación y depresión durante el semestre; el burnout es más severo en ingenierías al inicio del semestre, mientras el engagement es mayor en ciencias de la salud.  Se concluye que existen cambios en ascenso del burnout (agotamiento-cinismo), descenso del engagement (dedicación) y la salud mental, sobre todo en los síntomas de depresión, además de distinción del burnout-engagement en ingenierías y ciencias de la salud al comienzo de un semestre
