International Fisheries Agreements: The Feasibility and Impacts of Partial Cooperation
This paper deals with partial cooperation among countries involved in the exploitation of straddling and highly migratory fish stocks. We analyse the feasibility of coalition structures and their impacts on fishing e.orts by means of games in partition function form.Furthermore, we demonstrate that the modified Shapley value is an appropriate device for the division of the gains from cooperation.international fisheries;overexploitation;partial cooperation;games in partition function form;competitive equilibrium;modified Shapley value.
Use of Standardized Patient Scenarios to Train Medical Assistants in an Ambulatory Rehabilitation Medicine Clinic
Objectives:
To improve the efficiency of our outpatient Rehabilitation Medicine clinic without sacrificing high value/quality patient care.
To clarify the responsibilities of the MA and identify areas of redundancy in the rooming process.
To demonstrate the utility of in-situ simulation for MA training.
To reduce the time it takes for MAs to complete all assigned tasks to 10 minutes or less per encounter in at least 50% of patient encounters within two months from the time of intervention.
To potentially highlight other areas in which to improve clinic efficiency and overall patient satisfaction (e.g. front desk registration process, resident and attending physician encounters, clinic and exam room accessibility).https://jdc.jefferson.edu/patientsafetyposters/1051/thumbnail.jp
Feasibility and Acceptability of an English-as-a-Second Language Curriculum on Hepatitis B for Older Chinese American Immigrants
Asian immigrants to the U.S. have an increased prevalence of hepatitis B virus (HBV) infection compared to native born individuals; an estimated 10 percent of Chinese immigrants are infected with HBV. Using qualitative data from focus groups, we developed an English-as-a-Second Language (ESL) curriculum that aimed to improve knowledge about key hepatitis B facts. The curriculum was pilot-tested among 56 students aged 50 and older from intermediate-level ESL classes at a community-based organization that serves Chinese immigrants. Post-curriculum data showed increases in knowledge that hepatitis B can cause liver cancer (73% at pre-test vs. 91% at post-test; p value = 0.01) and that individuals can be infected with hepatitis B for life (34% vs. 81%; p valu
Ground states of nonlocal scalar field equations with Trudinger-Moser critical nonlinearity
We investigate the existence of ground state solutions for a class of
nonlinear scalar field equations defined on whole real line, involving a
fractional Laplacian and nonlinearities with Trudinger-Moser critical growth.
We handle the lack of compactness of the associated energy functional due to
the unboundedness of the domain and the presence of a limiting case embedding.Comment: 13 page
Nonautonomous fractional problems with exponential growth
We study a class of nonlinear non-autonomous nonlocal equations with
subcritical and critical exponential nonlinearity. The involved potential can
vanish at infinity.Comment: 12 page
