The hot and semi-arid region is prone to meteorological droughts; the lack of rain is frequently accompanied by hot temperatures, strong winds, and low humidity, which has the impact of limiting nutrient uptake and agricultural yields. To overcome this problem a field study conducted during June, 2020 kharif season at farmers field, Chinna Dudyala village, Muddanur, Kadapa district, Andhra Pradesh aimed to determine the effect of organic mulches and foliar spray of kaolin on NPK uptake in enhancing yield and economics of dry land maize (Zea mays). One of the most important techniques for preserving soil moisture was mulching, which also reduces evapotranspiration when anti-transpirants are used. The experiment comprised nine treatments (T1 to T9) with four types of organic mulches viz., Paddy straw, Ground-nut haulm, Coir-pith, and Sugarcane trash, with foliar spray of kaolin intervals on 40 DAS, 20 & 40 DAS and farmers practice to minimize water stress and improve the nutrient uptake by plant. Among the application of the treatments, coir-pith mulch + foliar spray of kaolin @ 3.0% (T6) on 20 DAS & 40 DAS had significant effect on NPK uptake with N (187.15 kg ha-1), P (69.60 kg ha-1) and K (156.22 kg ha-1) and enhanced grain yield (6976 kg ha-1) and stover yield (10980 kg ha-1), highest gross returns (138034 ₹. ha-1) and BCR (2.63) and was superior to all the other treatments. The present study would help to effectively utilise the available resources, enhance growth and productivity in maize crop and to make economically viable to the farmers of semi-arid regions

A rare case of extraovarian dysgerminoma in pregnancy

    Get PDF
Extraovarian germ cell tumors are very rare and their occurrence in pregnancy is extremely rare. We presented a case of extraovarian dysgerminoma on the anterior abdominal wall in a G2P1L1, 34 weeks. It is challenging to manage such tumors, obstacles in the way namely are diagnosis as the presentation can be different from classical ovarian GCTs, limitations in the investigatory modalities in pregnancy, and management involving three independent entities-tumor, mother, fetus.

NITROGEN, PHOSPHORUS, AND POTASSIUM RANGE OF VERMICOMPOST USING EISENIA FETIDA AND PERIONYX EXCAVATUS

The aim of the presentation is to produce vermicomposting from organic kitchen solid wastes using two types of earthworms such as Eisenia fetida and Perionyx excavatus and check the nitrogen, phosphorus, and potassium level between E. fetida and P. excavatus. This study examines the potential of the E. fetida and P. excavatus in the vermicompost of kitchen waste. As kitchen waste is rich in organic material. Physical and biochemical parameters were analyzed during the period of 60 days. Pre-decomposition is 15 days and subsequent vermicomposting is 60 days indicates, the rule of these species of vermitechnology increase was found in all the parameters such as total nitrogen (%), available phosphorus (%), and exchangeable potassium (%) while a decrease was found in pH and carbon-to-nitrogen ratio in E. fetida as the timing of vermicomposting increased from 0 days to 60 days

    A REVIEW ON POLYCORIA

    Get PDF
The presence of multiple iris holes is most commonly called pseudopolycoria, because only the central pupil has a sphincter muscle and can constrict. Iris holes without muscle tissue arise as congenital defects or develop from ocular trauma, inflammation, or degeneration and are thus not considered to be true accessory pupils. Multiple pupils, also known as true polycoria, are distinguished by the presence of a sphincter muscle around each iris hole, permitting synchronous constriction and dilation of the 2 pupils. One presumed mechanism for polycoria is a snaring or pinching off from the margin of another pupil. This patient had a small, oval-shaped accessory pupil, which may have separated from the temporal margin of the central pupil, leaving a thin bridge of no sphincter connecting tissue. The outlook for polycoria is generally good. You may not require any treatment if your visual impairment is minimal and doesn’t interfere with your daily life. However, if treatment is needed, pupilloplasty has so far shown positive results. If you have polycoria, it’s important to have regular check-ups with an eye doctor to monitor your vision and any changes your eyes may have. Having your eye checked regularly is also beneficial for your eyesight as a whole

Static traversable wormhole solutions in f(R,Lm)f(R,L_m) gravity

In this study, we explore the new wormhole solutions in the framework of new modified f(R,Lm)f(R,L_m) gravity. To obtain a characteristic wormhole solution, we use anisotropic matter distribution and a specific form of energy density. As second adopt the isotropic case with a linear EoS relation as a general technique for the system and discuss several physical attributes of the system under the wormhole geometry. Detailed analytical and graphical discussion about the matter contents via energy conditions is discussed. In both cases, the shape function of wormhole geometry satisfies the required conditions. Several interesting points have evolved from the entire investigation along with the features of the exotic matter within the wormhole geometry. Finally, we have concluding remarks.Comment: Chinese Journal of Physics accepted versio

FPGA-Based Portable Ultrasound Scanning System with Automatic Kidney Detection

    Get PDF
Bedsides diagnosis using portable ultrasound scanning (PUS) offering comfortable diagnosis with various clinical advantages, in general, ultrasound scanners suffer from a poor signal-to-noise ratio, and physicians who operate the device at point-of-care may not be adequately trained to perform high level diagnosis. Such scenarios can be eradicated by incorporating ambient intelligence in PUS. In this paper, we propose an architecture for a PUS system, whose abilities include automated kidney detection in real time. Automated kidney detection is performed by training the Viola–Jones algorithm with a good set of kidney data consisting of diversified shapes and sizes. It is observed that the kidney detection algorithm delivers very good performance in terms of detection accuracy. The proposed PUS with kidney detection algorithm is implemented on a single Xilinx Kintex-7 FPGA, integrated with a Raspberry Pi ARM processor running at 900 MHz

Population structure of Spanish mackerel Scomberomorus commerson (Lacepede 1800) in the Northern Indian Ocean determined using microatellite markers

Narrow barred Spanish mackerel, Scomberomorus commerson (Lacepede, 1800) is one of the economically important marine fish species in the Northern Indian Ocean. Genetic stock structuring is reported in S. commerson from Arabian Peninsula, Indo-West Pacific, Northern Australian, Southeast Asia and Northern Australia. The present study utilized microsatellite markers to elucidate the population structure of S. commerson (Lacepede, 1800) in the Arabian Sea and Bay of Bengal. A total of 12 polymorphic microsatellite loci were amplified in 250 samples collected from five different geographic locations. Low FST values (0.0023–0.027), AMOVA, PCoA and the Bayesian analysis of genetic structure indicated unit stock of the species in Indian waters. Bottleneck analysis using Wilcoxon signed rank tests and Mode shift test indicated lack of recent bottleneck events across populations of S. commerson. The findings of the present study could be used in managing the commercially important species, S. commerson as a unit stock in Arabian Sea and Bay of Bengal of Northern Indian Ocean and reinforces the need for regional cooperation on fisheries management
