Field Trip D: The Nusplingen Plattenkalk and Other Fossil Sites in the Western Swabian Alb (SW Germany)
THE NUSPLINGEN LITHOGRAPHIC LIMESTONE - A "FOSSIL LAGERSTAETTE" OF LATE KIMMERIDGIAN AGE FROM THE SWABIAN ALB (GERMANY)
A short overview is given on the actual excavations within a fossiliferous lithographic limestone site near Nusplingen (western Swabian Alb, SW Germany). In contrast to the better known Early Tithonian Solnhofen Lithographic Limestone, it is much richer in fossils and 0.5 my older (Late Kimmeridgian, Beckeri Zone, Ulmense Subzone). Many of the fossils exhibit an excellent preservation, sometimes even of the organic matter. More than 7.000 specimens have been recorded belonging to almost 300 taxa (plants, microfossils, invertebrates, ichnofossils, and vertebrates)
Rare Middle Jurassic ammonites of the families Erycitidae, Otoitidae and Stephanoceratidae from southern Germany
The âHahnâsche Fossilhorizontâ at the base of the upper part of the âSpatkalkeâ beds in the Klettgau area (southwestern Gemany) yields a condensed ammonite fauna of the Convergens und Macrescens subzones of the Lower Bathonian Zigzag Zone. In the lowermost part of the âHahnâscher Fossilhorizontâ occur (in addition to this condensed fauna from the Lower Bathonian) reworked ammonites, which probably stem from the Parkinsoni Zone. The Parkinsoni Zone is confirmed up to the transition between the âSpatkalkeâ and the âHahnâscher Fossilhorizontâ. Several ammonite taxa that are new for the Lower Bathonian of the Klettgau area, as well as several taxa that are age-diagnostic of the Middle and Upper Bathonian are presented
Die Ovale-Zone (Mitteljura, Unter-Bajocium) an ihrer TypuslokalitĂ€t bei Achdorf (Wutach-Gebiet, SĂŒdwestdeutschland)
Ferromagnetism and Canted Spin Phase in AlAs/GaMnAs Single Quantum Wells: Monte Carlo Simulation
The magnetic order resulting from a confinement-adapted
Ruderman-Kittel-Kasuya-Yosida indirect exchange between magnetic moments in the
metallic phase of a AlAs/Ga(1-x)Mn(x)As quantum well is studied by Monte Carlo
simulation. This coupling mechanism involves magnetic moments and carriers
(holes), both coming from the same Mn(2+) ions. It leads to a paramagnetic, a
ferromagnetic, or a canted spin phase, depending on the carrier concentration,
and on the magnetic layer width. It is shown that high transition temperatures
may be obtained.Comment: 7 figure
