Synthesis of In2Se3 nanocubes fabricated by laser ablation under DI water and its Field electron emission properties as well as the carrier dynamics were investigated successfully for the application of high current density cold cathode material. The morphological characterization carried out using field-emission scanning electron microscopy (FESEM) and transmission electron microscopy (TEM) reveal that the nano-cubes have an average size of 70 nm. The X-ray diffraction and Raman analysis clearly imply the formation of pure and crystalline In2Se3 phase only, without any impurity phases, despite the laser ablation being carried out in aqueous medium. A superior FE property characterized by lower values of turn-on and threshold fields as compared to In2Se3 nanowires emitter and ability to deliver very large current density ~2656 μA/cm2 by applying the field of 9.7 V/μm. Transient absorption spectra reveals there are no deep trap levels, the electrons in nanocubes can be regards as mobile carriers through the hopping process and travel long distance in the absence of holes. Carrier dynamics and photocatalytic performance of novel In2Se3/ZnO/Au-nanoparticle ternary composite system is investigated. The ternary photocatalytic system was fabricated using hydrothermal and laser ablation technique. The structural and physical characteristics have been studied by SEM, TEM, ultraviolet-visible (UV–Vis) spectrophotometry, and micro-Raman spectroscopy. The photocatalytic activity of the nanocomposites was estimated through the photocatalytic degradation utilizing organic dye of methylene blue in an aqueous solution. Results suggested that the ternary composite showed better photocatalytic performance compared with the pristine and binary composites. Production of few layers graphene from graphite is fabricated by UV laser scanning method. Morphological, structural and optical properties were investigated by TEM, HRTEM, UV-Vis spectroscopy and Micro-Raman spectroscopy. The surface modification of graphite under different liquid environment was investigated by optical laser microscope. After laser scanning the holes in graphite surface becomes dipper and less wide. The laser scanning process is most effective process to remove the layers of the graphite plate. Dips and hill are modified after laser scanning

Adrenal Myelolipoma, Cholelithiasis and Calcified Spleen: Retrospective Diagnosis of Sickle Cell Anemia Using a Novel Triad of Abdominal Imaging Findings

    Get PDF
Sickle cell anemia is an inherited abnormality of the globin chain with very high prevalence in the Indian subcontinent. A significant proportion of these patients present late in life and are at a risk of complications like acute chest syndrome and painful episodes till a definitive diagnosis is reached and appropriate treatment is started . We report a novel triad of abdominal imaging findings which is not reported in literature until now and which may suggest a diagnosis of sickle cell anemia in retrospect. Patients with this triad of abdominal findings should be suspected to have an underlying hemoglobinopathy and should be referred for further hematological workup. Although in our case the patient was diagnosed to have sickle cell anemia depending on the abnormal morphology of red cells and hemoglobin electrophoresis, it should be remembered that this triad of findings may be seen in other hemoglobinopathies which induce a state of chronic anemia. Key words: sickle cell anemia, adrenal myelolipoma, gall stones, calcified spleen

The impact of heavy metal toxicity on the shoot and root lengths, total protein, fiber characteristics, moisture content and nutrient composition of spinach (Spinacia oleracea) was evaluated. Plants were grown in pots containing soil and treated with different concentrations (mg/kg) of lead (Pb; 300, 400 and 500), cadmium (Cd; 0.5, 1 and 1.5) and zinc (Zn; 250, 500, and 700) as well as mixtures of Cd and Pb (0.5/300, 1/400, 1.5/500), Cd and Zn (0.5/250, 1/500, 1.5/700), and Pb and Zn (300/250, 400/500, 500/700). Soil contaminated by long-term irrigation with wastewater containing heavy metals was simulated. An increase in concentrations of heavy metals both individually and as mixtures significantly (p < 0.05) reduced the growth parameters and nutrient contents of S. oleracea. The uptake patterns of heavy metals in mixtures showed antagonistic impacts on each other. The toxicities of the mixtures Cd and Pb, Cd and Zn as well as Pb and Zn were higher than those observed in separate heavy metal applications but less than their additive sums. The toxicity caused by individual heavy metals was the highest for Cd followed by Pb and Zn. The highest toxicity was observed in plants grown in soil contaminated by Cd and Pb

Robots have been of great use to mankind for several years. In situation where human body fails to operate as per the need robot’s functions in those situations quite efficiently. Electroencephalogram (EEG) controlled hand assistant makes use of EEG signals and Brain Computer Interface (BCI). EEG signals are obtained from the brain using Emotiv Insight headset, after which processing and features extraction of the signals is performed and then conditioning of signals is done as it is a low amplitude signal with additive noise. Signals processing is done on the analog signal by using wavelet transform. Wavelet transform will help to extract information from the analog signal. Then the signals are assigned with the signatures to perform the dedicated task Filtered signal is given to analog pins of Arduino Uno. With the help of inbuilt ADC available on Arduino Uno, Digital Data is also made available on the digital pins. Then through MATLAB access Arduino board. In near future if it gets similar kind of input it will understand exactly what operation to perform. Further the Robotic hand assistant can be operated as we want
