Cloudifying Desktops – A Taxonomy for Desktop Virtualization
Compared to traditional desktops, the implementation of desktop virtualization can leverage cost reductions and enable desktop access via mobile devices. Consequently, researchers and practitioners increasingly focus on virtualized desktops and Desktop as a Service (DaaS). However, a consistent definition for these technologies and the related delivery models does not exist yet. Therefore, we conducted a literature analysis which revealed that optimized resource allocation and performant DaaS infrastructures are the primary topics in research. Einfluss individueller Angstbewältigungstendenzen auf die Aktivität neurophysiologischer Korrelate der Emotionsverarbeitung
Angstbewältigung spielt als eine Form der Emotionsregulation (ER) für die psychische Gesundheit eine wichtige Rolle. Diese Arbeit prüft den Zusammenhang zwischen den im Modell der Bewältigungsmodi (MCM) postulierten Dimensionen der Angstbewältigung – Vigilanz und kognitive Vermeidung – und der Aktivität emotionsverarbeitender Hirnareale bei der Bearbeitung eines Paradigmas zur impliziten ER. Dafür wurden 284 gesunde Probanden mittels Angstbewältigungsinventar und fMRT untersucht. Es wurden ROI-Analysen für die Amygdala, die Insula, den anterioren Gyrus cinguli (ACC) und den Nucleus striae terminalis (BNST) durchgeführt. Für Amygdala und Insula fand sich keine Assoziation mit den MCM-Dimensionen. Der ACC war negativ mit Vigilanz, der BNST positiv mit Vermeidung assoziiert. Dies wird interpretiert als Bestätigung des ACC als zerebrale Kontrollinstanz und als Anwendung der „vigilance-avoidance theory“ auf den BNST
Switch to Your Own to Work with the Known: An Empirical Study on Consumerization of IT
Driven by the pervasion of privately owned mobile devices, in recent years, we witness a trend of consumers rather than enterprises increasingly diffusing technology innovations into work environments. Today, owners of ubiquitous technologies (e.g., smartphones, social networks, etc.) not only use them privately but also apply them on business purposes, which is known as Bring Your Own Device (BYOD) or more generally coined as consumerization. While consumerization is heavily discussed in industry, nowadays only few research contributions exist. Applying a switching theory perspective in a post-adoption study, we investigated consumerization on an individual level. Numerical investigation of a straw combustion boiler – Part I: Modelling of the thermo-chemical conversion of straw
In the framework of a European project, a straw combustion boiler in conjunction with an organic Rankine cycle is developed. One objective of the project is the enhancement of the combustion chamber by numerical methods. A comprehensive simulation of the combustion chamber is prepared, which contains the necessary submodels for the thermo-chemical conversion of straw and for the homogeneous gas phase reactions. Part I introduces the modelling approach for the thermal decomposition of the biomass inside the fuel bed, whereas part II deals with the simulation of the gas phase reactions in the freeboard
Improving job performance in mobile work environments through mindful organizing
ORGANIZATIONAL MINDFULNESS (OM) SUPPORTS THE MANAGEMENT AND EMPLOYEES WORKING IN THE INCREASINGLY DYNAMIC WORK ENVIRONMENTS DRIVEN BY CLOUD COMPUTING OR MOBILE DEVICES. SPECIFICALLY, IN MINDFUL ORGANIZATIONS, SUCH AS FINANCIAL INSTITUTIONS, RELIABLE OUTCOMES ARISE FROM OM IN THE FACE OF COMPLEX INFORMATION SYSTEMS. HOWEVER, EXTANT IS RESEARCH HAS DISREGARDED THE MULTILEVEL STRUCTURE OF MINDFULNESS, ESPECIALLY THEIMPORTANCE OF MINDFUL ORGANIZING (MO) ON LOWER HIERARCHICAL LEVELS. BASED ON DATA FROM 256 USERS OF AN ORGANIZATION WIDE CLOUD-BASED DESKTOP-AS-A-SERVICE SYSTEM, WE FOUND A SIGNIFICANTLY POSITIVE INFLUENCE OF THE COMBINATION OF OM AND MO AS WELL AS DIFFERENTIAL EFFECTS FOR BOTH ON JOB PERFORMANCE
