Art as Research: Conversations with Graeme Sullivan
This proposal is a collaboration between the Intermedia MFA and the Department of Att. \u27We are seeking Cultural Affairs/Distinguished Lecture Series funds to support a guest lecture as well as classroom visits by Dr. Graeme Sullivan (Director, School of Visual Art at The Pennsylvania State University). Sullivan is the author of Art Practice as Research: Inquiry in Visual Arts (2 d edition, 2010) and one of the country\u27s leading scholars on arts-based research as well as art education. Sullivan\u27s primary research focuses on critical-reflexive thinking processes, specifically those associated with visual arts inquiry and practice. We have attached a brief bio-statement and condensed CV to provide a more in-depth portrait of his academic and artistic engagements

Lecture by Dr. David Pariser
Dr. David Pariser has agreed to present his current research on children\u27s graphic development, specifically using artifacts and interviews gathered from Jaime Wyeth, with respect to juvenilia from Pablo Picasso, Paul Klee and Toulouse-Lautrec. Dr. Pariser is one of the few scholars publishing in English on aspects of giftedness in the visual arts and in children\u27s graphic development. (See attached expanded proposal). Dr. Pariser has agreed to spend two days at the University of Maine, deliver a public lecture and be video-taped for use as part of the alumni outreach, donor, and promotional materials. He has also agreed to make himself available for classroom visits and has already been asked to meet with art education students. (Attached, please find a short description of Dr. Pariser\u27s research and publications.
