The Initial-Value Problem of Spherically Symmetric Wyman Sector Nonsymmetric Gravitational Theory
We cast the four-dimensional field equations of the Nonsymmetric
Gravitational Theory (NGT) into a form appropriate for numerical study. In
doing so, we have restricted ourselves to spherically symmetric spacetimes, and
we have kept only the Wyman sector of the theory. We investigate the
well-posedness of the initial-value problem of NGT for a particular data set
consisting of a pulse in the antisymmetric field on an asymptotically flat
space background. We include some analytic results on the solvability of the
initial-value problem which allow us to place limits on the regions of the
parameter space where the initial-value problem is solvable. These results are

Abelian Anomalies in Nonlocal Regularization
Nonlocal regularization of QED is shown to possess an axial anomaly of the
same form as other regularization schemes. The Noether current is explicitly
constructed and the symmetries are shown to be violated, whereas the identities
constructed when one properly considers the contribution from the path integral
measure are respected. We also discuss the barrier to quantizing the fully

A Continuous-Discontinuous Second-Order Transition in the Satisfiability of Random Horn-SAT Formulas
We compute the probability of satisfiability of a class of random Horn-SAT
formulae, motivated by a connection with the nonemptiness problem of finite
tree automata. In particular, when the maximum clause length is 3, this model
displays a curve in its parameter space along which the probability of
satisfiability is discontinuous, ending in a second-order phase transition
where it becomes continuous. This is the first case in which a phase transition
of this type has been rigorously established for a random constraint
satisfaction problem
The dynamical stability of the static real scalar field solutions to the Einstein-Klein-Gordon equations revisited
We re-examine the dynamical stability of the nakedly singular, static,
spherical ly symmetric solutions of the Einstein-Klein Gordon system. We
correct an earlier proof of the instability of these solutions, and demonstrate
that there are solutions to the massive Klein-Gordon system that are

Effects and Propositions
The quantum logical and quantum information-theoretic traditions have exerted
an especially powerful influence on Bub's thinking about the conceptual
foundations of quantum mechanics. This paper discusses both the quantum logical
and information-theoretic traditions from the point of view of their
representational frameworks. I argue that it is at this level, at the level of
its framework, that the quantum logical tradition has retained its centrality
to Bub's thought. It is further argued that there is implicit in the quantum
information-theoretic tradition a set of ideas that mark a genuinely new
alternative to the framework of quantum logic. These ideas are of considerable
interest for the philosophy of quantum mechanics, a claim which I defend with
an extended discussion of their application to our understanding of the
philosophical significance of the no hidden variable theorem of Kochen and

Abnormal Speech Motor Control in Individuals with 16p11.2 Deletions.
Speech and motor deficits are highly prevalent (>70%) in individuals with the 600 kb BP4-BP5 16p11.2 deletion; however, the mechanisms that drive these deficits are unclear, limiting our ability to target interventions and advance treatment. This study examined fundamental aspects of speech motor control in participants with the 16p11.2 deletion. To assess capacity for control of voice, we examined how accurately and quickly subjects changed the pitch of their voice within a trial to correct for a transient perturbation of the pitch of their auditory feedback. When compared to controls, 16p11.2 deletion carriers show an over-exaggerated pitch compensation response to unpredictable mid-vocalization pitch perturbations. We also examined sensorimotor adaptation of speech by assessing how subjects learned to adapt their sustained productions of formants (speech spectral peak frequencies important for vowel identity), in response to consistent changes in their auditory feedback during vowel production. Deletion carriers show reduced sensorimotor adaptation to sustained vowel identity changes in auditory feedback. These results together suggest that 16p11.2 deletion carriers have fundamental impairments in the basic mechanisms of speech motor control and these impairments may partially explain the deficits in speech and language in these individuals
Re(I) tricarbonyl complex of 1,10-phenanthroline-5,6-dione: DNA binding, cytotoxicity, antiinflammatory and anti-coagulant effects towards platelet activating factor
The complex fac-[Re(CO)3(phendione)Cl] (1) (where phendione = 1,10-phenanthroline-5,6-dione) has been synthesized and fully characterized by UV–visible, FTIR, and NMR techniques. The DNA binding properties of 1 are investigated by UV-spectrophotometric (melting curves), covalent binding assay, CV (cyclic voltammetry), circular dichroism (CD) and viscosity measurements. Experimental data indicate that 1 fits into the major groove without disrupting the helical structure of the B-DNA in contrast to the free phendione which intercalates within the base pairs of DNA. Upon irradiation, complex 1promotes the cleavage of plasmid pBR322 DNA from supercoiled form I to nicked form II via a proton coupled electron transfer mechanism. This comes as a result of experimental data in anaerobic/aerobic conditions and in the presence of DMSO. The biological activities of 1 and its precursors [Re(CO)5Cl] and phendione are tested towards a series of cancerous cell lines as glioblastoma (T98G), prostate cancer (PC3) and breast cancer (MCF-7) as well as platelet activating factor (PAF)-aggregation. Moreover, all the aforementioned compounds are tested for their ability to modulate PAF-basic metabolic enzyme activities in preparations of rabbit leukolytes. The in vitro experiments indicate that phendione has a better antitumor effect than cisplatin whereas [Re(CO)5Cl] is a better PAF inhibitor than both the phendione ligand and 1. Moreover, for the first time it is indicated that [Re(CO)5Cl], with a IC50 of 17 nM is comparable to the widely used PAF receptor antagonists, BN52021 and WEB2170 with IC50 of 30 and 20 nM, respectively, whereas 1 affects PAF-catabolism
