Just Adaptation? How the Diffusion of Norms in the Global Climate Regime Affects International Climate Politics
Politics in the international climate regime is a balancing act between intra- and intergenerational justice, as it has to account for both the needs of developing countries and those of future generations. Following a constructivist approach, this paper argues that international climate politics are heavily dependent upon the way climate change and the appropriate behavior required to prevent it are constructed collectively. The article shows how the diffusion of norms and changing images of climate change have shifted the interests of the actors under the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change. As a result, adaptation became more and more widely accepted as a necessary step in international climate politics in advancing the strategy of climate change avoidance. This also represents a shift from a focus on intergenerational justice as the main normative goal of the convention, to a broader aim of sustainable development that comprises both inter- and intragenerational justice

CARACTERIZACI 3N DE LOS PROGRAMAS CREDITICIOS DEL INAPYMI. SECTOR MANUFACTURA DEL ESTADO YARACUY (PER\ucdODO 2009-2013).
El objetivo de la investigaci\uf3n fue
caracterizar los programas crediticios
que ofrece el Instituto Nacional
de Desarrollo de la Peque\uf1a y Mediana
Industria (INAPYMI) a las peque\uf1as
y medianas industrias (PYMI)
pertenecientes al sector manufactura
del estado Yaracuy, durante el per\uedodo
2009-2013. La investigaci\uf3n se ubica
en la modalidad descriptiva enmarcada
en un dise\uf1o de campo. Se seleccionaron
nueve (9) PYMI, las cuales fueron
abordadas por medio de un censo, adem\ue1s
de las entrevistas a funcionarios de
la instituci\uf3n. Los principales resultados
indican que los programas crediticios
del INAPYMI gozan de receptividad
ante los due\uf1os y gerentes de las
PYMI, aunque presentan debilidades
institucionales en cuanto a la excesiva
burocracia, la discrecionalidad y el
tiempo de entrega de los recursos. Se
hace necesario de

econ\uf3mica y empresarial concreta de
largo alcance, con \ue9nfasis en la actividad
manufacturera, con el
en de mejorar
el desempe\uf1o del sector industrial
en la regi\uf3n.

(2009-2013).The purpose of this study was to
characterize the credit programs
offered by the INAPYMI to small

belong to the manufacturing sector
of the State of Yaracuy, period 2009-
2013. This is a

(9) active PYMI. A census was applied
and the people from the institution
were interviewed. The main results
indicate that credit programs awarded
by INAPYMI enjoy great prestige
by PYMI owners and manager,
even though there are institutional
weaknesses such as excessive

Ceria-Based Dual-Phase Membranes for High-Temperature Carbon Dioxide Separation: Effect of Iron Doping and Pore Generation with MgO Template
Dual-phase membranes for high-temperature carbon dioxide separation have emerged as promising technology to mitigate anthropogenic greenhouse gases emissions, especially as a pre- and post-combustion separation technique in coal burning power plants. To implement these membranes industrially, the carbon dioxide permeability must be improved. In this study, Ce0.8Sm0.2O2âÎŽ (SDC) and Ce0.8Sm0.19Fe0.01O2âÎŽ (FSDC) ceramic powders were used to form the skeleton in dual-phase membranes. The use of MgO as an environmentally friendly pore generator allows control over the membrane porosity and microstructure in order to compare the effect of the membraneâs ceramic phase. The ceramic powders and the resulting membranes were characterized using ICP-OES, HSM, gravimetric analysis, SEM/EDX, and XRD, and the carbon dioxide flux density was quantified using a high-temperature membrane permeation setup. The carbon dioxide permeability slightly increases with the addition of iron in the FSDC membranes compared to the SDC membranes mainly due to the reported scavenging effect of iron with the siliceous impurities, with an additional potential contribution of an increased crystallite size due to viscous flow sintering. The increased permeability of the FSDC system and the proper microstructure control by MgO can be further extended to optimize carbon dioxide permeability in this membrane system.DFG, 414044773, Open Access Publizieren 2019 - 2020 / Technische UniversitĂ€t Berli
