A note on chiral fermions and heterotic strings
An off-shell manifestly (8,0) worldsheet supersymmetric formulation of a
multiplet describing physical chiral fermions is given. The multiplet can be
used to complete the doubly supersymmetric (twistor-like) action for the
heterotic string. Correction of technical errors.Comment: 10 page
Supersymmetric Drinfeld-Sokolov reduction
The Drinfeld-Sokolov construction of integrable hierarchies, as well as its
generalizations, may be extended to the case of loop superalgebras. A
sufficient condition on the algebraic data for the resulting hierarchy to be
invariant under supersymmetry transformation is given. The method used is a
construction of the hierarchies in superspace, where supersymmetry is manifest.
Several examples are discussed.Comment: 25 pages, LaTeX fil
Gauged W Algebras
We perform an Hamiltonian reduction on a classical \cw(\cg, \ch) algebra, and
prove that we get another \cw(\cg, \ch) algebra, with . In
the case \cg=S\ell(n), the existence of a suitable gauge, called Generalized
Horizontal Gauge, allows to relate in this way two \cw-algebras as soon as
their corresponding \ch-algebras are related by inclusion.Comment: 11 p., Latex. There was a misprint on the last autho
N=2 local and N=4 nonlocal reductions of supersymmetric KP hierarchy in N=2 superspace
A N=4 supersymmetric matrix KP hierarchy is proposed and a wide class of its
reductions which are characterized by a finite number of fields are described.
This class includes the one-dimensional reduction of the two-dimensional
N=(2|2) superconformal Toda lattice hierarchy possessing the N=4 supersymmetry
-- the N=4 Toda chain hierarchy -- which may be relevant in the construction of
supersymmetric matrix models. The Lax pair representations of the bosonic and
fermionic flows, corresponding local and nonlocal Hamiltonians, finite and
infinite discrete symmetries, the first two Hamiltonian structures and the
recursion operator connecting all evolution equations and the Hamiltonian
structures of the N=4 Toda chain hierarchy are constructed in explicit form.
Its secondary reduction to the N=2 supersymmetric alpha=-2 KdV hierarchy is
discussed.Comment: 26 pages, LaTeX, a few misprints correcte
Minimal unitary representation of D(2,1;\lambda) and its SU(2) deformations and d=1, N=4 superconformal models
Quantization of the geometric quasiconformal realizations of noncompact
groups and supergroups leads directly to their minimal unitary representations
(minreps). Using quasiconformal methods massless unitary supermultiplets of
superconformal groups SU(2,2|N) and OSp(8*|2n) in four and six dimensions were
constructed as minreps and their U(1) and SU(2) deformations, respectively. In
this paper we extend these results to SU(2) deformations of the minrep of N=4
superconformal algebra D(2,1;\lambda) in one dimension. We find that SU(2)
deformations can be achieved using n pairs of bosons and m pairs of fermions
simultaneously. The generators of deformed minimal representations of
D(2,1;\lambda) commute with the generators of a dual superalgebra OSp(2n*|2m)
realized in terms of these bosons and fermions. We show that there exists a
precise mapping between symmetry generators of N=4 superconformal models in
harmonic superspace studied recently and minimal unitary supermultiplets of
D(2,1;\lambda) deformed by a pair of bosons. This can be understood as a
particular case of a general mapping between the spectra of quantum mechanical
quaternionic K\"ahler sigma models with eight super symmetries and minreps of
their isometry groups that descends from the precise mapping established
between the 4d, N=2 sigma models coupled to supergravity and minreps of their
isometry groups.Comment: 41 pages; Latex file;references adde
Non-standard matrix formats of Lie superalgebras
The standard format of matrices belonging to Lie superalgebras consists of
partitioning the matrices into even and odd blocks. In this paper, we study
other possible matrix formats and in particular the so-called diagonal format
which naturally occurs in various applications, e.g. in superconformal field
theory, superintegrable models, for super W-algebras and quantum supergroups
Supersymmetric Black Holes from Toda Theories
On the example of nonabelian Toda type theory associated with the Lie
superalgebra we show that this integrable dynamical system is
relevant to a black hole background metric in the corresponding target space.
In the even sector the model under consideration reduces to the exactly
solvable conformal theory (nonabelian Toda system) in the presence of a
black hole recently proposed in the article "Black holes from non-abelian Toda
theories" by the last two authors (hep-th 9203039).Comment: 4 pages, Late
chiral WZNW model in superspace
We study the Poisson bracket algebra of the supersymmetric chiral WZNW
model in superspace. It involves two classical r-matrices, one of which comes
from the geometrical constraints implied by supersymmetry. The phase
space itself consists of superfields satisfying constraints involving this
r-matrix. An attempt is made to relax these constraints. The symmetries of the
model are investigated.Comment: 21 page
Recursion operators of the N=2 supersymmetric unconstrained matrix GNLS hierarchies
A super-algebraic formulation of the N=2 supersymmetric unconstrained matrix
(k|n,m)-MGNLS hierarchies (nlin.SI/0201026) is established. Recursion
operators, fermionic and bosonic symmetries as well as their superalgebra are
constructed for these hierarchies.Comment: 9 page
