Systems and methods for short range RF communication
A method transmitting a message over at least one of a plurality of channels of a communications network is provided. The method comprises the steps of detecting a presence of jamming pulses in the at least one of the plurality of channels. The characteristics of the jamming pulses in the at least one of the plurality of channels is determined wherein the determined characteristics define at least interstices between the jamming pulses. The message is transmitted over the at least one of the plurality of channels wherein the message is transmitted within the interstices of the jamming pulse determined from the step of determining characteristics of the jamming pulses

An Evaluation of the Fe-N Phase Diagram Considering Long-Range Order of N Atoms in γ'-Fe4N1-x and ε-Fe2N1-z
The chemical potential of nitrogen was described as a function of nitrogen content for the Fe-N phases α-Fe[N], γ'-Fe4N1-x, and ε-Fe2N1-z. For α-Fe[N], an ideal, random distribution of the nitrogen atoms over the octahedral interstices of the bcc iron lattice was assumed; for γ'-Fe4N1-x and ε-Fe2N1-z, the occurrence of a long-range ordered distribution of the nitrogen atoms over the octahedral interstices of the close packed iron sublattices (fcc and hcp, respectively) was taken into account. The theoretical expressions were fitted to nitrogen-absorption isotherm data for the three Fe-N phases. The α/α + γ', α + γ'/γ', γ'/γ' + ε, and γ' + ε/ε phase boundaries in the Fe-N phase diagram were calculated from combining the quantitative descriptions for the absorption isotherms with the known composition of NH3/H2 gas mixtures in equilibrium with coexisting α and γ' phases and in equilibrium with coexisting γ' and ε phases. Comparison of the present phase boundaries with experimental data and previously calculated phase boundaries showed a major improvement as compared to the previously calculated Fe-N phase diagrams, where long-range order for the nitrogen atoms in the γ' and ε phases was not accounted for
Perceptions and attitudes of music department chairs and faculty regarding global competence in North Carolina Community College music programs
Community colleges throughout the United States have declared “global competence” as a learning objective for their students since the last decade of the 20th century. The North Carolina (NC) Community College system is no exception, as its statewide mission statement lists preparing students to be globally competent as a goal for all 58 community colleges in the state. What is unclear is how music departments offering Associate in Fine Arts (AFA) degrees in NC community colleges perceive the statewide mission statement goal of global competence. The purpose of this study is to discover and examine the perceptions and attitudes of music program department chairs and faculty regarding the statewide mission statement goal of global competence as it applies to music programs in community colleges that offer an Associate in Fine Arts (AFA) music degree. Using Yin’s descriptive multiple-case study as a methodology through the theoretical lens of Hegelian dialectics, this study will help paint a clearer picture of how music department chairs and faculty acting as leaders in NC Community College music degree programs view and implement the statewide goal of global competence. The study will also provide more information regarding how global competence is understood and viewed by music department chairs and faculty in order to provide guidance in how to best implement this aspect of the mission statement in music programs in community colleges

Nursing students\u27 lack of knowledge about advance directives (AD) can impact the care that patients receive at the end of life. Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) students at different program levels were surveyed about their knowledge, personal and professional experiences, and personal and professional attitudes regarding advance directives (n=166)
Student perceptions regarding collaborative intraprofessional nursing education
Collaboration is an important aspect of providing high-quality health care. Residential undergraduate and online graduate nursing students will collaborate on a health literacy project for community agencies. Students will complete pre- and post-surveys to assess student perceptions about intraprofessional collaborative educational activities across program levels and educational settings
A Song Cycle on Mortality: Reimagining Four Sonnets of Sor Juana Inés de la Cruz as Four Songs on Life and Death
Sor Juana Inés de la Cruz (1648? – 1695) was revered during her lifetime as a major intellectual force in the Spanish Golden Age. Today Sor Juana remains a central public figure in Mexican culture and is most remembered for the enormous body of poetry she created, notably her sonnets, of which there are over 65. In this paper, the author, after an analysis of the sonnet, and the life of Sor Juana, selects four sonnets written by Sor Juana. The sonnets are discussed, and then set to music composed by the author
