    Single and pair production of heavy leptons in E6E_6 model

    We investigate the single and pair production of new heavy leptons via string inspired E6E_{6} model at future linear colliders. Signal and corresponding backgrounds for these leptons are studied. We have found that single production of heavy leptons is more relevant than that of pair production, as expected. For a maximal mixing value of 0.1, the upper mass limits of 2750 GeV in the single case and 1250 GeV in the pair production case are obtained at s=3\sqrt{s}=3 TeV collider option.Comment: 14 pages, 10 figure

    Energy Conservation Constraints on Multiplicity Correlations in QCD Jets

    We compute analytically the effects of energy conservation on the self-similar structure of parton correlations in QCD jets. The calculations are performed both in the constant and running coupling cases. It is shown that the corrections are phenomenologically sizeable.     Method for Flavor Tagging in Neutral B Meson Decays

    A method is proposed for tagging the flavor of neutral BB mesons in the study of CP-violating decay asymmetries. The method makes use of a possible difference in interactions in BπB \pi or BπB^* \pi systems with isospins 1/2 and 3/2, and would be particularly clean if the I=1/2I = 1/2 systems can be detected as ``BB^{**}'' resonances.Comment: Submitted to Phys.     We calculate the new physics effects to the branching ratios of the lepton flavor conserving decays Z -> l^+ l^- in the framework of the general two Higgs Doublet model.     Transverse Tau Polarization in Decays of the Top and Bottom Quarks in the Weinberg Model of CP Non-conservation

    We show that the transverse polarization asymmetry of the τ\tau-lepton in the decay tbτνt\rightarrow b \tau \nu is extremely sensitive to CP violating phases arising from the charged Higgs exchange in the Weinberg model of CP non-conservation. Qualitatively, the polarization asymmetries are enhanced over rate or energy asymmetries by a factor of mtmτO(100)\approx {m_t\over m_\tau}\approx O(100). Thus for optimal values of the parameters the method requires 104\approx 10^4 top pairs to be observable rather than 10710^7 needed for rate or energy asymmetries. We also examine τ\tau polarization in b decays via bcντb \rightarrow c \nu \tau and find that it can also be very effective in constraining the CP violation parameters of the extended Higgs sector.Comment: 11,1 figure, SLAC-PUB-608

    Bounds on Vector Leptoquarks

    We derive bounds on vector leptoquarks coupling to the first generation, using data from low energy experiments as well as from high energy accelerators. Similarly to the case of scalar leptoquarks, we find that the strongest indirect bounds arise from atomic parity violation and universality in leptonic pi decays. These bounds are considerably stronger than the first direct bounds of HERA, restricting vector leptoquarks that couple with electromagnetic strength to right-handed quarks to lie above 430 GeV or 460 GeV, and leptoquarks that couple with electromagnetic strength to left-handed quarks to lie above 1.3 TeV, 1.2 TeV and 1.5 TeV for the SU(2)_W singlet, doublet and triplet respectively.Comment: 14 Pages (LaTeX), including 1 uufiled postscript figure.     On Neutrino Masses and Family Replication

    The old issue of why there are more than one family of quarks and leptons is reinvestigated with an eye towards the use of anomaly as a tool for constraining the number of families. It is found that, by assuming the existence of right-handed neutrinos (which would imply that neutrinos will have a mass) and a new chiral SU(2) gauge theory, strong constraints on the number of families can be obtained. In addition, a model, based on that extra SU(2), is constructed where it is natural to have one "very heavy" fourth neutrino and three almost degenerate light neutrinos whose masses are all of the Dirac type.Comment: RevTex, 12 pages with 1 figure, minor changes to the text and added acknowledgment
