    A new species of Endiandra (Lauraceae) is described from New Guinea. Endiandra kassamensis is described based on specimens collected over four decades ago. Unlike most Endiandra which grow in lowland forest, E. kassamensis is found in high altitude forest.     Study on plant diversity by exploration and collection have been carried out at the Bukit Barisan Selatan National Park, Province of Lampung.The study sites was focused on secondary lowland forests of Way Canguk and Sukaraja Atas. The research was aimed to obtain floristic data from such areas that has never been recorded. Flora diversity in these areas is relatively high as represented by 183 plant species from 124 genera and 60 families. It is noted that 3 species are newly for Sumatran flora

    Two new species of Endiandra (Lauraceae), i.e. Endiandra areolata Arifiani and Endiandra lanata Arifiani are described from New Guinea. Both species have staminal glands, but their form is different in the two species.  Moreover, E. areolata Arifiani is characterized by its prominent areolation formed by the minor venation, and E. lanata Arifiani is easily recognized by the presence of a dense curly indument on its twig, leaves, inflorescences and flowers

    Paralogs and off-target sequences improve phylogenetic resolution in a densely-sampled study of the breadfruit genus (Artocarpus, Moraceae)

    We present a 517-gene phylogenetic framework for the breadfruit genus Artocarpus (ca. 70 spp., Moraceae), making use of silica-dried leaves from recent fieldwork and herbarium specimens (some up to 106 years old) to achieve 96% taxon sampling. We explore issues relating to assembly, paralogous loci, partitions, and analysis method to reconstruct a phylogeny that is robust to variation in data and available tools. Although codon partitioning did not result in any substantial topological differences, the inclusion of flanking noncoding sequence in analyses significantly increased the resolution of gene trees. We also found that increasing the size of data sets increased convergence between analysis methods but did not reduce gene-tree conflict. We optimized the HybPiper targeted-enrichment sequence assembly pipeline for short sequences derived from degraded DNA extracted from museum specimens. Although the subgenera of Artocarpus were monophyletic, revision is required at finer scales, particularly with respect to widespread species. We expect our results to provide a basis for further studies in Artocarpus and provide guidelines for future analyses of data sets based on target enrichment data, particularly those using sequences from both fresh and museum material, counseling careful attention to the potential of off-target sequences to improve resolution.     The taxonomic status of Javanese Strobilanthes has been revised by Bennett and Scotland (2003). However, the results of the validation of the Javanese Acanthaceae by Girmansyah (2014) show that several Strobilanthes species, especially those endemic to Java, need to be revised. Because they have become synonymous. Conservation status of Javanese endemic Strobilanthes was carried out according to the IUCN Red list Categories and Criteria.
