    Get PDF
Data curation has become an integral requirement for research. To address increasing requirements by funders for comprehensive data management the University Libraries provides data curation services ranging from consultations to creating the interface for a campus wide data repository. Additionally, the Libraries have established a new campus wide data policy to build awareness about the need for data management, preservation and access. To promote open access the policy and data repository interface encourage researchers to make their data publicly available—if possible. The presentation will begin with the development of the Libraries data curation services. Including a demonstration of the Data Repository and provide detail regarding researchers’ options retention, access, rights, and metadata for data deposits. The promotion of this online tool on campus, authenticating researchers, and the integration of the tool with other UNL resources will also be discussed

Notes on the theory of planar electric networks

    Get PDF
The primary purpose of these notes is to sketch an approach to the elementary algebraic theory of planar electric networks which conduces to a formal dual correspondence between the so-called mesh and nodal representations of planar networks that is complete in every respects It is also shown that if general variables are employed in the analysis of a network the number of voltage or current equations that serve to describe the network is infinite. Finally, it is demonstrated that the impedance or admittance matrix of a passive network is not necessarily symmetrical

Communicating Science with Little (or No) Budget: Design Rules and Tricks for the Non-Artist

    Get PDF
This presentation is for the self-proclaimed non-artist scientist who wants to communicate science effectively but has little (or no) budget to hire professionals to create and edit images (artwork, tables, graphs), websites, presentation slides, and publications. For this scientist, learning basic easy-to-apply design rules and tricks can facilitate the preparation of scientific material. The speaker has experience designing formal and informal presentations, creating videos and podcasts, working with graphic designers, and designing websites. The speaker will provide tips and suggestions based on her own experiences, collaborations, and acting as a consultant for informal science communication projects. Moreover, strategies for using advanced Google Slides and PowerPoint options, graphic design, and universal design principles (including accessibility) will be shared. Finally, finding and using open access images and other creative ways to maximize your budget will conclude this talk
