In-band label extractor based on Cascaded Si ring resonators enabling 160 Gb/s optical packet switching modules
Photonic integration of optical packet switching modules is crucial to compete with existing electronic switching fabrics in large data center networks. The approach of coding the forwarding packet information in an in-band label enables a spectral-efficient and scalable way of building low-latency large port count modular optical packet switching architecture. We demonstrate the error-free operation of the four in-band label extraction from 160 Gb/s optical data packets based on photonic integrated silicon-on- insulator ring resonators. Four low-loss cascaded ring resonators using the quasi-TM mode are used as narrowband filters to ensure the detection of four optical labels as well as the error-free forwarding of the payload at limited power penalty. Due to the low-loss and less-confined optical quasi-TM mode the resonators can be very narrowband and have low insertion loss. The effect of the bandwidth of the four ring resonators on the quality of the payload is investigated. We show that using four rings with 3dB bandwidth of 21 pm and only an insertion loss of 3 dB, the distortion on the payload is limited (< 1.5 dB power penalty), even when the resonances are placed very close to the packet's central wavelength. We also investigate the optical power requirements for error-free detection of the label as function of their spectral position relative to the center of the payload. The successful in-band positioning of the labels makes this component very scalable in amount of labels
{4-Chloro-2-[(2-hyÂdroxyÂethÂyl)iminoÂmethÂyl]phenolato}{4-chloro-2-[(2-oxidoÂethÂyl)iminoÂmethÂyl]phenolato}cobalt(III)
In the title mononuclear cobalt(III) compound, [Co(C9H8ClNO2)(C9H9ClNO2)], the CoII atom is six-coordinated by two imine N atoms, two phenolate O atoms, and one hyÂdroxy and one oxide O atom from two Schiff base ligands, forming an octaÂhedral geometry. In the crystal structure, adjacent molÂecules are linked through interÂmolecular O—H⋯O hydrogen bonds. The 2-oxidoethyl group is disordered over two positions in a 0.638 (3):0.362 (3) ratio
Ejection dynamics of a ring polymer out of a nanochannel
We investigate the ejection dynamics of a ring polymer out of a cylindrical
nanochannel using both theoretical analysis and three dimensional Langevin
dynamics simulations. The ejection dynamics for ring polymers shows two regimes
like for linear polymers, depending on the relative length of the chain
compared with the channel. For long chains with length larger than the
critical chain length , at which the chain just fully occupies the
nanochannel, the ejection for ring polymers is faster compared with linear
chains of identical length due to a larger entropic pulling force; while for
short chains (), it takes longer time for ring polymers to eject out of
the channel due to a longer distance to be diffused to reach the exit of the
channel before experiencing the entropic pulling force. These results can help
understand many biological processes, such as bacterial chromosome segregation.Comment: 8 pages, 10 figures. To appear in Soft Matte
Fokker-Planck type equations with Sobolev diffusion coefficients and BV drift coefficients
In this paper we give an affirmative answer to an open question mentioned in
[Le Bris and Lions, Comm. Partial Differential Equations 33 (2008),
1272--1317], that is, we prove the well-posedness of the Fokker-Planck type
equations with Sobolev diffusion coefficients and BV drift coefficients.Comment: 11 pages. The proof has been modifie
Monte Carlo Hamiltonian - From Statistical Physics to Quantum Theory
Monte Carlo techniques have been widely employed in statistical physics as
well as in quantum theory in the Lagrangian formulation. However, in some areas
of application to quantum theories computational progress has been slow. Here
we present a recently developed approach: the Monte Carlo Hamiltonian method,
designed to overcome the difficulties of the conventional approach.Comment: StatPhys-Taiwan-1999, 6 pages, LaTeX using elsart.cl
Entanglement production and decoherence-free subspace of two single-mode cavities embedded in a common environment
A system consisting of two identical single-mode cavities coupled to a common
environment is investigated within the framework of algebraic dynamics. Based
on the left and right representations of the Heisenberg-Weyl algebra, the
algebraic structure of the master equation is explored and exact analytical
solutions of this system are obtained. It is shown that for such a system, the
environment can produce entanglement in contrast to its commonly believed role
of destroying entanglement. In addition, the collective zero-mode eigen
solutions of the system are found to be free of decoherence against the
dissipation of the environment. These decoherence-free states may be useful in
quantum information and quantum computation.Comment: 10 pages, 7 figures, Revtex
Detection of STAT2 in early stage of cervical premalignancy and in cervical cancer
AbstractObjectiveTo measure the expression pattern of STAT2 in cervical cancer initiation and progression in tissue sections from patients with cervicitis, dysplasia, and cervical cancer.MethodsAntibody against human STAT2 was confirmed by plasmids transient transfection and Western blot. Immunohistochemistry was used to detect STAT2 expression in the cervical biopsies by using the confirmed antibody against STAT2 as the primary antibody.ResultsIt was found that the overall rate of positive STAT2 expression in the cervicitis, dysplasia and cervical cancer groups were 38.5%, 69.4% and 76.9%, respectively. The STAT2 levels are significantly increased in premalignant dysplasia and cervical cancer, as compared to cervicitis (P< 0.05). Noticeably, STAT2 signals were mainly found in the cytoplasm, implying that STAT2 was not biologically active.ConclusionsThese findings reveal an association between cervical cancer progression and augmented STAT2 expression. In conclusion, STAT2 increase appears to be an early detectable cellular event in cervical cancer development
How is Vaping Framed on Online Knowledge Dissemination Platforms?
We analyze 1,888 articles and 1,119,453 vaping posts to study how vaping is
framed across multiple knowledge dissemination platforms (Wikipedia, Quora,
Medium, Reddit, Stack Exchange, wikiHow). We use various NLP techniques to
understand these differences. For example, n-grams, emotion recognition, and
question answering results indicate that Medium, Quora, and Stack Exchange are
appropriate venues for those looking to transition from smoking to vaping.
Other platforms (Reddit, wikiHow) are more for vaping hobbyists and may not
sufficiently dissuade youth vaping. Conversely, Wikipedia may exaggerate vaping
harms, dissuading smokers from transitioning. A strength of our work is how the
different techniques we have applied validate each other. Based on our results,
we provide several recommendations. Stakeholders may utilize our findings to
design informational tools to reinforce or mitigate vaping (mis)perceptions
