Inorganic chemical composition given as elemental weight% measured by standardless WDXRF. The three epoxy materials were measured as solid disks (4 cm in diameter, 1 cm high). For comparison, the results for CNT powder, previously published in [25], were added to the figure. Displayed axis 99.7 – 100 %. (PPTX 71 kb

Simulation of Solidification Structures of Binary Alloys: a Multi-Particle Diffusion Limited Aggregation Model with Surface Rearrangement.

    No full text
The thermodynamics and kinetics of isothermal solidification in binary alloy melts were simulated in a two-dimensional model incorporating the effects of nearest and next nearest neighbours at the solid-liquid interfaces, taking into account the simultaneous diffusion in the melt of all diffusing paritcles (atoms) and allowing solid-liquid interface rearrangement on a local scale. The next nearest neighbour interaction and the surface rearrangement were shown to have large effects on the resulting morphologies. Further the influences of the operating diffusion coefficient and the sticking rule for the solidifying particle were analysed. A wide range of growth modes, dendritic, massive, equiaxed, eutetic, and transitions there of during solidification, also involving change of time dependency of the growth velocity, as observed in practice, could be given a rationalistic basis.JRC.I-Institute for Health and Consumer Protection (Ispra

Interstitial Position of Tin Ions in alpha-(Fe-rich Sn)2O3 Solid Solutions Prepared by Mechanical Alloying.

The microstructures of four 94, 85, and 71 mal % alfa-Fe03-Sao2 samples prepared by mechanical allying have been studied by x-ray diffraction with Rietveld structure refinements. The alfa-(FerichSn)2O3 solid solutions with higher Sao2 contents in the immiscible ceramic system have been synthesized by mechanical alloying, On the basis of the structure refinements to the whole x-ray diffraction patterns for the four as-milled samples, it is found that tin ions do not substitute iron ions in the solid solutions, although this model is generally assumed in literature.JRC.I-Institute for Health and Consumer Protection (Ispra
