Growth Elasticity of poverty in the globe
This paper highlights the global economic prosperity and portrays the anatomy of poverty in developing countries. It analyses the incidence of rural and urban poverty persisting in fourteen countries including India. It address the contradiction of coexistence of poverty and hyper economic growth in the globe. It is found that the growth elasticity of poverty is very low in developing countries. It argues that economic growth process can be inclusive and sustainable only by curbing the process of marginalization, corruption and exploitationgrowth Elasticity, Poverty ,Asia, Europe
symmetry and the quark mixing matrix
We impose an symmetry on the quark fields under which two of three
quarks transform like a doublet and the remaining one as singlet, and use a
scalar sector with the same structure of doublets. After gauge symmetry
breaking, a subgroup of the remains unbroken. We show that
this unbroken subgroup can explain the approximate block structure of the CKM
matrix. By allowing soft breaking of the symmetry in the scalar sector,
we show that one can generate the small elements, of quadratic or higher order
in the Wolfenstein parametrization of the CKM matrix. We also predict the
existence of exotic new scalars, with unconventional decay properties, which
can be used to test our model experimentally.Comment: 7 pages, no figur

Many-body approach to low-lying collective excitations in a BEC approaching collapse
An approximate many-body theory incorporating two-body correlations has been
employed to calculate low-lying collective multipole frequencies in a
Bose-Einstein condensate containing bosons, for different values of the
interaction parameter . Significant difference
from the variational estimate of the Gross-Pitaevskii equation has been found
near the collapse region. This is attributed to two-body correlations and
finite range attraction of the realistic interatomic interaction. A large
deviation from the hydrodynamic model is also seen for the second monopole
breathing mode and the quadrupole mode for large positive .Comment: 8 pages, 2 figure
Studies on elastane-cotton core-spun stretch yarns and fabrics: Part III—Comfort characteristics
Air permeability, thermal characteristics and microclimate conditions of the woven fabrics made of stretchable elastane core-spun yarns have been studied. The weft yarns are spun with different spinning parameters, namely elastane stretch, proportion of elastane core and twist multiplier. A three-variable factorial design technique, proposed by Box &Behnken, is used to investigate the combined interaction effect of the above variables. The effect of these variables on air permeability, thermal resistance, thermal absorbtivity and various microclimate conditions (temperature and relative humidity) with or without air flow has been analyzed. The work has been performed in two stages, non–convective mode and convective mode for examining microclimate behavior of the above fabrics. For the analysis, the contour plots are obtained to examine the interactive effect of all the variables on different fabric characteristics. It has been observed from the experimental results that twist multiplier is the most influencing parameters on air permeability and thermal behavior of the fabrics. The selected levels of the variables do not show marked difference on the microclimate under convective and non-convective modes, and all fabric samples achieve same microclimate conditions after certain period of time
Identification of bacterial pathogen associated with red stripe/top rot disease of sugarcane in Punjab, India
This study was aim to identify the pathogen associated with the red stripe/top rot disease. The isolates were collected from major sugarcane growing districts of Punjab. Molecular identification of the pathogen was carried out to confirm the associated organism with this disease. Of the different sets of specific PCR based molecular markers were used, primer sets SeQ1 (Aaa) and SeQ2 (Aaa) amplified the expected 550bp of ITS (Internal Transcribed Spacer) region of the rDNA which revealed the pathogen as Acidovorax avenae pv. avenae, whereas the primer set Aaaf3 and Aaar2 are specific to strains that infect rice crop did not amplify any fragment. Our studies confirmed Acidovorax avenae pv. avenae as the causal bacterium associated with the red stripe/top rot of sugarcane in Punjab
Failure of evaporator tubes initiated by lamellar tearing during the commissioning of a waste heat recovery boiler
Successive failures of several new evaporator tubes during commissioning and trial run of a waste heat recovery boiler
has been analyzed. The evaporator tubes are cold bent into U-shape and subsequently TIG welded to a 24-mm thick wear
plate on either sides of the tube immediately adjacent to the bend. The failed samples showed stepped longitudinal cracks along the rolling direction and parallel to the weld fusion boundary at the fireside surface of the inner bend of the tube, prominently at the center of the bend. It was found that the failure of the evaporator tubes at the tube bends was initiated by lamellar tearing because of inherent defects in the material (segregation leading to banded structure), improper processing of material (inclusions with high aspect ratios along the rolling direction) and accelerated by high transverse shrinkage stresses over the entire bend portion of the tube introduced by the weld. The pre-existing fine cracks in the welded evaporator tube initiated by lamellar tearing have subsequently opened up during service when the total strain in the region increased because of steam pressure resulting in catastrophic failure of the tubes. Contrary to expectation, many of the elongated inclusions were found to be iron oxide scales and only few were manganese sulfide stringers enveloped by iron oxide scales. The iron oxide inclusions were resolved from the manganese sulfide by scanning electron microscopy and EDS spot analysis of the inclusions
