    Procjena glomerularne filtracije u djece s hemofilijom

    Estimated glomerular filtration rate (eGFR) is one of the best-performing methods in evaluating kidney function. There are limited data regarding the estimated glomerular filtration rate in children and young adults with hemophilia. The aim of this study was to determine the difference between three commonly used estimated glomerular filtration rate equations in the pediatric population in a cohort of patients with hemophilia. Our prospective study included 36 pediatric patients with moderate or severe hemophilia. eGFR was calculated for each patient using the original creatinine-based “bedside Schwartz” equation, the cystatin C-based equation and the creatinine-cystatin C-based equation. The difference between the equations, calculated using the one-way repeated ANOVA test, was statistically significant (p <0.001), and post hoc analysis found differences between each method. Correlation analysis showed the strongest positive correlation between the bedside Schwartz equation and creatinine-cystatin C-based equation (r=0.866) among the three methods examined. A correlation between the three eGFR methods was present, but with significant differences between them. Due to the observed differences between eGFR in pediatric patients with hemophilia, further research is needed to find the optimal measurement method for eGFR. Nevertheless, we recommend implementing eGFR equations in routine clinical monitoring of pediatric patients with hemophilia.Procjena glomerularne filtracije jedna je od najboljih metoda ocjene bubrežne funkcije. Postoje oskudni podaci o procjeni glomerularne filtracije u djece i mladih odraslih oboljelih od hemofilije. Cilj našeg istraživanja je utvrditi razliku između tri često korištene metode za procjenu glomerularne filtracije u pedijatrijskoj populaciji u skupini pacijenata oboljelih od hemofilije. U naše prospektivno istraživanje uključili smo 36 djece s hemofilijom umjerenog ili teškog stupnja. Svakom pacijentu procijenjena je glomerularna filtracija koristeći jednostavnu, kreatinin baziranu jednadžbu po Schwartzu, cistatin C baziranu jednadžbu i kreatinin - cistatin C baziranu jednadžbu. Razlika između tri jednadžbe koristeći jednosmjerni ANOVA test bila je statistički značajna (p <0.001), a post hoc analiza pokazala je razliku između svake od navedenih metoda. Korelacijska analiza pokazala je najjače pozitivne korelacije između jednostavne jednadžbe po Schwartzu i kreatinin - cistatin C jednadžbe (r=0.866) promatrajući tri navedene jednadžbe. Korelacija između tri opisane jednadžbe za procjenu glomerularne filtracije postoji, ali sa značajnim neslaganjem. Zbog primijećenog neslaganja između procijenjene glomerularne filtracije u pacijenata s hemofilijom daljnja istraživanja su potrebna s ciljem pronalaska optimalne jednadžbe za procjenu glomerularne filtracije. Štoviše, preporučujemo uključivanje jednadžba za procjenu glomerularne filtracije u rutinsko praćenje djece oboljele od hemofilije

    Oral lichen planus (OLP) and oral lichenoid reaction (OLR) are clinically and histopathologically similar diseases. Whereas OLP is a consequence of T cell mediated autoinflammatory process to a still unknown antigen, OLR might be caused by drugs, dental restorative materials and dental plaque. Pubmed was searched and 24 publications published over the last three years regarding etiology, diagnosis and malignant alteration were included in this study. Patients with OLR who have amalgam fillings near lesions should have them replaced, i.e. when possible they should be referred to patch test, as well as when drug-induced OLR are suspected. OLR lesions induced by drugs should disappear when the offending drug has been discontinued. Histology finding in OLR consists of more eosinophils, plasma cells and granulocytes in comparison to OLP lesions. Furthermore, OLP lesions showed more p53, bcl-2 and COX-2 positivity when compared to OLR. OLP is characterized by infiltration, atrophic epithelium, rete pegs and Max Joseph spaces, while deep infiltration into connective tissue and hyperkeratosis were the criteria for making the diagnosis of OLR. The number of degranulated mastocytes in the reticular layer, as well as the number of capillaries was higher in OLR in comparison to OLP. It seems that OLR are more prone to malignant alteration in comparison to OLP.Oralni lihen planus (OLP) i oralna lihenoidna reakcija (OLR) su dvije klinički i patohistološki slične bolesti. OLP je posljedica autoimunog procesa koji je posredovan T limfocitima na još uvijek nepoznati antigen, a OLR može biti uzrokovana lijekovima, dentalnim materijalima i dentalnim plakom. Cilj je ovoga preglednog rada bio istražiti Pubmed te su uključena 24 rada koja su publicirana u posljednje tri godine, a s obzirom na etiologiju, dijagnostiku i malignu alteraciju ovih bolesti. Oboljeli od OLR koji u blizini lezija imaju amalgame trebaju ih zamijeniti kompozitnim ispunima, odnosno kad je moguće treba ih uputiti na patch test, kao i onda kada se sumnja da je OLR uzrokovana lijekovima. OLR uzrokovane lijekovima trebale bi se povući kada osoba prestane uzimati suspektni lijek. Patohistološki nalaz u OLR se sastoji od više eozinofila, plazma stanica i granulocita u usporedbi s lezijama kod OLP. Nadalje, lezije OLP imaju više pozitivnih nalaza p53, bcl-2 i COX-2 u usporedbi s lezijama OLR. OLP obilježava infiltracija, atrofični epitel, zupci pile i Max Josephovi prostori, dok OLR karakterizira dublja infiltracija u vezivno tkivo i hiperkeratoza. Broj degranuliranih mastocita u retikularnom sloju, kao i broj kapilara je veći u OLR u usporedbi s OLP. Čini se kako su OLR sklonije malignoj alteraciji u odnosu na OLP

    Gamma ray assisted modification of carbon quantum dot/polyurethane nanocomposites: structural, mechanical and photocatalytic study

    In recent years, water pollution and contamination had become a major threat to the ecosystem. However, the use of nanostructured materials has been proven as a very promising approach in the treatment of polluted water. The present study reports the results of the gamma ray-assisted modification of hydrophobic carbon quantum dot (hCQD)/polyurethane nanocomposites for photocatalytic degradation of organic dyes. Different characterization methods were applied to investigate the influence of the different doses of gamma irradiation (1, 10 and 200 kGy) on the physical and chemical properties of nanocomposites (morphology, chemical content, mechanical properties, wettability, and potential for singlet oxygen generation). Surface morphology and mechanical properties analyses showed that gamma rays induced insignificant changes in the structure of nanocomposites, but the potential for singlet oxygen generation increased significantly. Here we also explore, in detail, the photocatalytic properties of gamma-ray modified hCQDs/polyurethane nanocomposites. UV-vis analysis showed that the removal efficiency of the rose bengal dye reached up to 97% for the nanocomposite irradiated with the dose of 200 kGy

    Drill bits with internal cooling capabilities are still not employed in stone machining practices within shop floor environments. Therefore, a conventional industrial drill bit used in stone machining was subject to a redesign wherein an axial cooling channel was machined throughout its body. A comparison was drawn between the standard drill bit without cooling capabilities and the redesigned drill bit, which used compressed air as a cooling medium. The experiment was performed by drilling three types of stone samples varying in hardness with nine combinations of cutting speed and feed rate. During the machining process, two types of process signals were continuously measured—namely, cutting forces and vibrations. Additionally, the cutting edges of the drill bits were inspected after a specific number of drilling cycles using a vision system. The primary objective of this study was to compare the cutting forces and tool wear dynamics achieved by those two drill bits. Furthermore, the usage of vibration signals in the classification of stone hardness during machining with an internally cooled drill bit was additionally analyzed. The results of this study unveiled improvement in minimizing cutting forces, vibrations, and the intensity of tool wear when utilizing an internally cooled drill bit. Even though the machining system generally exhibited lower vibrations, vibration signals again demonstrated commendable efficacy in classifying stone hardness

    Coseismic Ground Displacement after the Mw6.2 Earthquake in NW Croatia Determined from Sentinel-1 and GNSS CORS Data

    At the very end of the year 2020, on 29 December, a hazardous earthquake of Mw = 6.2 hit the area of Petrinja and its surroundings, in the NW of Croatia. The earthquake was felt across the area of 400 km, leaving an inconceivable damage in the vicinity of the epicenter, devastated towns and ruined lives. In order to map the spreading of earthquake waves and to determine the coseismic ground displacement after the mainshock, we have analyzed open satellite radar images of Sentinel-1 and the GNSS data from the nearest CORS station related to the epicenter, along with the seismic faults. In this paper, we addressed and mapped the displacement linear surface ruptures detected by the SAR interferometry. The results show the vertical ground displacement to the extent of -12 cm in the southern area and up to 22 cm in the north-western part of a wide area struck by the earthquake impact, related to the epicenter. Subsidence and uplift in a range of +/- 5 cm over a wider affected area indicate a spatial extent and hazardous impact made by the earthquake. The ground displacement of 30 cm to the West and 40 cm to the East has been identified considering the intersection of Pokupsko and Petrinja strike-slip fault system in the seismic zone of Pannonian basin. Accordingly, we obtained matching results of 5 cm south-easting shift and -3 cm subsidence on Sisak GNSS CROPOS station, addressing the tectonic blocks movement along the activated complex fault system. The results compared with the geology data confirm the existence of two main faults; the Pokupsko and the Petrinja strike-slip faults and interpret the occurrence of secondary post-seismic events over the observed area.ISSN:2076-326

    Dissociative electron attachment to 2,4,6-trichloroanisole and 2,4,6-tribromoanisole molecules.

    2,4,6-trichloroanisole and 2,4,6-tribromoanisole were investigated by means of Electron Transmission Spectroscopy and two different types of Dissociative Electron Attachment spectrometers. The results obtained were interpreted with the support of DFT calculations. The dominant dissociative decay channels of the temporary molecular negative ions lead to formation of Cl\u2c9 and Br\u2c9 in the low electron energy region. Formation of long-lived parent anions is observed at thermal electron energies. Their relative intensity depends on the experimental time window, ~36 \uf06ds in the case of the static magnet mass analyzer and ~200 \uf06ds for the quadrupole mass analyzer employed. The results obtained may be useful for rapid detection of these compounds in wine and pharmaceutical industry, as well as other branches connected to the food industry, e.g. packaging
