    Risk perception or self perception

    In cognitive entrepreneurship research one main question is: Do entrepreneurs think differently than others in various ways? Especially in the area of risk perception cognition is thought of as information processing. In later streams of cognitive science it has developed from a state where cognition is seen as information processing to a state where cognition is mainly seen as an effective act, where experiences play an important role. We use risk perception as an indicator for information processing and self perception as an indicator for past experience. We found that past experience explains starting a real venture whereas risk information processing explains starting a case study venture

    Analysing commercials' success from a social constructivist perspective

    From a social constructivist perspective (SCP) we analyse TV-commercials’ success. We address the following questions: Does the customer co-create meaning, and, more specific, is a commercial more successful if a customer plays a co-creating role? If so, both the customer and her experience, as well as the commercial, play a significant part in explaining the commercial’s success. As independent constructs to explain commercials’ success we used storytelling, indicating the commercial’s part, and experiential conclusiveness, indicating the customer’s part. We found support that the customer and seller via the commercial co-create meaning and coordinate their activities

    The Role of Rab GTPases in the Endolysosomal System of S.cerevisiae

    The evolution of the eucaryotic cell was accompanied by the development of an elaborate endomembrane system. Transport between intracellular compartments is mediated by vesicular carriers that constantly bud from donor membranes and fuse with target compartments. RabGTPases together with tethering factors mediate first specific contact between membranes destined fusion. This study focuses on the interplay between the endosomal RabGTPase Vps21 and the endosomal tethering complex, CORVET. The CORVET subunit Vps8 is the direct effector subunit and mediates binding to the GTP-form of Vps21, whereas the subunit Vps3 binds the GDP-form of Vps21. Vps8 and Vps21 functionally interact to mediate late endosomal tethering events. Furthermore, Vps8 and Vps21, together with the two other CORVET subunits, Vps3 and Vps16 were shown to be the minimal molecular requirement for late endosomal tethering.The results presented here indicate that the sequential recruitment of Vps8 to Vps21-positive late endosomes initiates tethering and leads to further assembly of the CORVET complex that dictates successive fusion events

    Virtual Worlds in Education - A systematic Literature Review

    Virtual worlds (VWs) are no novum in higher education but regain interest through COVID-19 restrictions, emerging technologies, and the metaverse hype. Therefore, we conduct a systematic literature review to gain the current status quo of research in higher and further education to identify the educational activities, research areas, learning environments, technologies towards the metaverse, subjects taught, and the current state of design knowledge. The initially found 587 records were systematically filtered to 89 fully coded articles. Based on our results, we define research gaps and derive research streams. Our results reveal a lack of research on social integration, course design, non-technical target groups, theoretical grounding and general design knowledge within the given context. The metaverse trend has reached educational research in the way that from 2016 onwards, new technologies are investigated selectively for educational purposes

    Die veränderten Bedingungen der heutigen Wirtschaftswelt erfordern nicht mehr nur grundlegendes Faktenwissen . Da Faktenwissen im Internetzeitalter kein knappes Gut mehr ist, zählen in der Praxis immer mehr die einzelnen Fähigkeiten des Menschen, also mit Wissen umzugehen und es zur Gestaltung zu nutzen. So stehen bei den Arbeitgebern heutzutage weniger die Abschlussnoten als die praktischen Fähigkeiten im Vordergrund. Wie ist es nun möglich, diese Fähigkeiten bereits während des Studiums zu erlernen bzw. diese zu trainieren? Dazu soll als erstes einmal auf die einzelnen Komponenten eingegangen werden, die zur Entstehung von praktischen Fähigkeiten bzw. Können erforderlich sind. Fähigkeiten bestehen aus einer Lern- und einer praktischen Komponente. Sie können somit als Stimme von Wissen und Erfahrungen interpretiert werden. Erfahrungen erlangt man durch die Anwendung und Reflexion von Wissen, also von erlernten Methoden und relevanten Informationen

    Needs of Students in Further Education – A Mixed Methods Study

    Technological progress and volatile working environments inevitably lead to the need for lifelong learning. Learners in continuing education pursuing a professional career are therefore increasingly turning to accompanying continuing education formats (OECD, 2021). In this context, the terms “further or continuing education” describe the deepening, broadening, or update of existing vocational education and training from a previous phase of education. Less time available for studying due to having a job and possibly a family leads to either lower grades or longer completion times (Hall, 2010) or even higher dropout rates (Hoffmann, Thalhammer, von Hippel, & Schmidt-Hertha, 2020). Furthermore, secondary education might date back long ago (Hanft, Maschwitz, & Hartmann-Bischoff, 2013). Digital transformation drives the expectation for digital, scalable, and affordable solutions that are adaptive to this target group’s heterogeneous needs and challenges independent of time and location (Marković, 2014).     Conversational Agents in Education – A Systematic Literature Review

    Conversational Agents (CAs) are widely spread in a variety of domains, such as health and customer service. There is a recent trend of increasing publications and implementations of CAs in education. We conduct a systematic literature review to identify common methodologies, pedagogical CA roles, addressed target groups, the technologies and theories behind, as well as human-like design aspects. The initially found 3329 records were systematically reduced to 252 fully coded articles. Based on the analysis of the codings, we derive further research streams. Our results reveal a research gap for long-term studies on the use of CAs in education, and there is insufficient holistic design knowledge for pedagogical CAs. Moreover, target groups other than academic students are rarely considered. We condense our findings in a morphological box and conclude that pedagogical CAs have not yet reached their full potential of long-term practical application in education

    Characterizing ecoregions in Argentinian patagonia using extant continental ostracods

    In order to characterize Patagonian (Argentina) ecoregions using non-marine ostracods, their associations in 69 environments were assessed. Twenty eight taxa were recorded, including 12 endemic of the Neotropical region. Our results indicate that Patagonian ostracods are mainly influenced by electrical conductivity (EC), altitude, pH, and temperature; and shows a correlation with Argentinian ecoregions. Assemblage I is composed of sites located at high altitude in the Andean Patagonian forest ecoregion. Host waters have low temperature, EC and pH, and support as representative species Cypris pubera, Eucypris virens, Bradleystrandesia fuscata, Tonacypris lutaria and Amphicypris nobilis. Assemblage II, related to mid-altitude environments in the Patagonian Steppe ecoregion, thrived in waters with moderate to high EC, and alkaline pH values. Dominant species includes Limnocythere rionegroensis, L. patagonica, E. virgata, Riocypris whatleyi, Riocypris sarsi, Newnhamia patagonica, Kapcypridopsis megapodus, Ilyocypris ramirezi and Penthesinelula incae. Assemblage III inhabited environments within Monte and Espinal ecoregions, situated in the eastern part of the study area at low altitude, EC moderate and temperate waters, supporting Heterocypris hyalinus, Amphicypris argentinensis, Sarscypridopsis aculeata, Cypridopsis vidua, Herpetocypris intermedia and Chlamidotheca incisa. Our results indicates that Argentinian Patagonia hosts a diverse ostracod fauna and highlights their capacity as proxies in ecological and palaeoenvironmental studies.Fil: Cusminsky, Gabriela Catalina.     Distribution and ecology of freshwater ostracods from northern patagonia: An approach

    There are only a few studies about the ostracod faunal assemblages and their environmental requirements from Patagonia (e.g. CUSMINSKY et al., 2011; RAMÓN MERCAU et al., 2012). Here we present the results of a survey of thirteen water bodies (streams, springs, temporary habitats) in Northern Patagonia (39° 52’ – 41°50’ S; 70°36’ – 71°27’ W) and their comparison with those of previous studies in the earstern Patagonia. The goal of this research is to enhance our understanding of the regional Patagonian ostracoda fauna and evaluate the relationship between ostracod species and physical and chemical (depth, temperature, pH, conductivity, dissolved oxygen concentration, seston and main ions) parameters of host waters along a W-E precipitation gradient (ranging from 1200 to 160mm/annually). To date, seven species were identified: Amphicypris nobilis Sars 1901, Bradleystrandesia fuscata (Jurine, 1820), Cypridopsis vidua (O. F. Müller, 1776), Cypris pubera O. F. Müller 1776, Eucypris virens (Jurine, 1820), Heterocypris incongruens (Ramdohr, 1808) and Tonnacypris lutaria (Koch, 1838). The more frequent species were T. lutaria and E. virens, while A. nobilis and C. vidua were only found in one site. Males of A. nobilis were found while the other species were represented only by females. The environment of this fauna is related to low conductivity and salinity in the water. Conversely, previous studies in the easternmost area of Patagonia have shown different fauna such us Penthesinelula incae (Delachaux, 1928), Potamocypris smaradigma (Vávra, 1891), Ilyocypris ramirezi Cusminsky and Whatley, 1996, Limnocythere patagonica Cusminsky and Whatley, 1996, Eucypris fontana (Graf, 1931), Kapcypridopsis megapodus Cusminsky et al. 2005 and Limnocythere rionegroensis, Cusminsky and Whatley, 1996 living in comparatively higher conductivity (CUSMINSKY et al., 2011). The latter suggest that the decreasing precipitation trend towards eastern Patagonia is reflected in the distribution of different ostracod fauna association. On the other hand, new distributions of cosmopolitan species are present, spreading out their geographical distribution to the Neotropical region (MARTENS et al., 2008). Some of the species such us C. pubera, E. virens and B. fuscata have been also described in the Neartic region, suggesting that birds could be responsible to their dispersion.
