How we can work better to support employee mental health

    Get PDF
Companies are increasingly investing in their employees’ mental health. In an environment of labour shortages, the losses caused by workers’ mental problems have made mental health a priority. Employers may not always succeed in addressing the problem, but individual employees have a role to play. Yolanda Blavo, Nikita and Daniel Jolles discuss how we can take charge of our mental well-being at work and help create a supportive environment for others

The three biggest workplace anxieties of 2023

    Get PDF
The year 2023 has brought great anxieties to workers, with rising inflation and threats from artificial intelligence. What can leaders do to calm these anxieties and get the best out of their teams in 2024? Jazzy Jasiulek, Daniel Jolles, Nikita, and Grace Lordan asked over 1,400 professionals about their top anxieties and share how leaders can address them and create more resilient and productive teams in 2024

Perancangan Media Informasi Tentang Safari Poo Paper Bagi Pengunjung Bali Safari and Marine Park

MODELING THE MORTALITY TREND UNDER MODERN SOLVENCY REGIMES

    Get PDF
Stochastic modeling of mortality/longevity risks is necessary for internal models of (re)insurers under the new solvency regimes, such as Solvency II and the Swiss Solvency Test. In this paper, we propose a mortality model which fulfills all requirements imposed by these regimes. We show how the model can be calibrated and applied to the simultaneous modeling of both mortality and longevity risk for several populations. The main contribution of this paper is a stochastic trend component which explicitly models changes in the long-term mortality trend assumption over time. This allows to quantify mortality and longevity risk over the one-year time horizon prescribed by the solvency regimes without relying on nested simulations. We illustrate the practical ability of our model by calculating solvency capital requirements for some example portfolios, and we compare these capital requirements with those from the Solvency II standard formul

Cross-Domain Generalization of Neural Constituency Parsers

Neural parsers obtain state-of-the-art results on benchmark treebanks for constituency parsing -- but to what degree do they generalize to other domains? We present three results about the generalization of neural parsers in a zero-shot setting: training on trees from one corpus and evaluating on out-of-domain corpora. First, neural and non-neural parsers generalize comparably to new domains. Second, incorporating pre-trained encoder representations into neural parsers substantially improves their performance across all domains, but does not give a larger relative improvement for out-of-domain treebanks. Finally, despite the rich input representations they learn, neural parsers still benefit from structured output prediction of output trees, yielding higher exact match accuracy and stronger generalization both to larger text spans and to out-of-domain corpora. We analyze generalization on English and Chinese corpora, and in the process obtain state-of-the-art parsing results for the Brown, Genia, and English Web treebanks.Comment: ACL 2019. A Simple Nonlinearity-Tailored Probabilistic Shaping Distribution for Square QAM

    Get PDF
A new probabilistic shaping distribution that outperforms Maxwell-Boltzmann is studied for the nonlinear fiber channel. Additional gains of 0.1 bit/symbol MI or 0.2 dB SNR for both DP-256QAM and DP-1024QAM are reported after 200 km nonlinear fiber transmission
