A urinary Common Rejection Module (uCRM) score for non-invasive kidney transplant monitoring.
A Common Rejection Module (CRM) consisting of 11 genes expressed in allograft biopsies was previously reported to serve as a biomarker for acute rejection (AR), correlate with the extent of graft injury, and predict future allograft damage. We investigated the use of this gene panel on the urine cell pellet of kidney transplant patients. Urinary cell sediments collected from patients with biopsy-confirmed acute rejection, borderline AR (bAR), BK virus nephropathy (BKVN), and stable kidney grafts with normal protocol biopsies (STA) were analyzed for expression of these 11 genes using quantitative polymerase chain reaction (qPCR). We assessed these 11 CRM genes for their abundance, autocorrelation, and individual expression levels. Expression of 10/11 genes were elevated in AR when compared to STA. Psmb9 and Cxcl10could classify AR versus STA as accurately as the 11-gene model (sensitivity = 93.6%, specificity = 97.6%). A uCRM score, based on the geometric mean of the expression levels, could distinguish AR from STA with high accuracy (AUC = 0.9886) and correlated specifically with histologic measures of tubulitis and interstitial inflammation rather than tubular atrophy, glomerulosclerosis, intimal proliferation, tubular vacuolization or acute glomerulitis. Vortex critical behavior at the de-confinement phase transition
The de-confinement phase transition in SU(2) Yang-Mills theory is revisited
in the vortex picture. Defining the world sheets of the confining vortices by
maximal center projection, the percolation properties of the vortex lines in
the hypercube consisting of the time axis and two spatial axis are studied.
Using the percolation cumulant, the temperature for the percolation transition
is seen to be in good agreement with the critical temperature of the thermal
transition. The finite size scaling function for the cumulant is obtained. The
critical index of the finite size scaling function is consistent with the index

Haematologic and Clinical Chemical values in 3 and 6 months old Göttingen minipigs
Blood samples were collected from sixty healthy Göttingen minipigs. fifteen males and fifteen females at the age of three months and fifteen males and fifteen females at the age of six months. The samples were taken at the breeder’s facilities. The samples were analysed for nineteen haematological and twenty~six clinical chemical parameters. Means, standard deviations and lowest and highest values are presented. In general the parameters were comparable with those reponed for other breeds of miniature and domestic swine. The white blood cell count, the percentages of neutrophils and monocytes and serum globulin levels were lower in these microbiologically defined minipigs compared with conventionally rearedpigs and minipigs. Three litter mates had a complex of abnormally high serum creatine kinase, lactate dehydrogenase, uspartate aminotransterase and alanine aminotmnsferase levels
Finite automata with advice tapes
We define a model of advised computation by finite automata where the advice
is provided on a separate tape. We consider several variants of the model where
the advice is deterministic or randomized, the input tape head is allowed
real-time, one-way, or two-way access, and the automaton is classical or
quantum. We prove several separation results among these variants, demonstrate
an infinite hierarchy of language classes recognized by automata with
increasing advice lengths, and establish the relationships between this and the
previously studied ways of providing advice to finite automata.Comment: Corrected typo
Experiences of physical activity during pregnancy in Danish nulliparous women with a physically active life before pregnancy. A qualitative study
<p>Abstract</p> <p>Background</p> <p>National guidelines recommend that healthy pregnant women take 30 minutes or more of moderate exercise a day. Most women reduce the level of physical activity during pregnancy but only a few studies of women's experiences of physical activity during pregnancy exist. The aim of the present study was to elucidate experiences and views of leisure time physical activity during pregnancy in nulliparous women who were physically active prior to their pregnancy.</p> <p>Methods</p> <p>A qualitative study was conducted by means of personal interviews. Nineteen women, all with a moderate pre-pregnancy level of physical activity but with different levels of physical activity during pregnancy, participated in the study. Content analysis was applied.</p> <p>Results</p> <p>In the analyses of experiences and views of physical activities during pregnancy, four categories and nine sub-categories were developed: <it>Physical activity as a lifestyle </it>(Habit and Desire to continue), <it>Body awareness </it>(Pregnancy-related discomfort, Having a complicated pregnancy and A growing body), <it>Carefulness </it>(Feelings of worry and Balancing worry and sense of security) and <it>Sense of benefit </it>(Feelings of happiness and Physical well-being).</p> <p>Conclusion</p> <p>As other studies have also shown, women find that the discomfort and complications associated with pregnancy, the growing body, and a sense of insecurity with physical activity are barriers to maintaining former levels of physical activity. This study adds a new perspective by describing women's perceptions of these barriers and of overcoming them - thus, when pregnant, the majority of the women do not cease to be physically active but continue to be so. Barriers are overcome by applying one's own experience, looking to role models, mirroring the activities of other pregnant women and following the advice of experts (midwives/physiotherapists). Women then continue to be physically active during pregnancy, most often to a lesser extent or in alternative activities, and derive considerable enjoyment and physical well-being from this.</p
