180 DEGREE REFLECTIVITY AND VELOCITY PERTURBATION OF THIN METAL DOTS.
Reflective arrays of rectangular thin metal 'dots' spaced in a regular or near regular grid pattern, such as have been used in surface acoustic wave resonators and in-line dot RACs on LiNbO//3 , are analyzed. The half-wavelength spacing of dots required leads to capacitative coupling between adjacent dots. The charge distribution induced on the dots by the passage of the SAW is presented including the coupling. The 180 degree SAW reflectivity of the dots and the SAW velocity perturbation through the dot array are given for a range of dot sizes. These are shown to be in good agreement with experimental results. The work establishes that the method of analysis can form the basis of the design of 180 degree reflective weighted dot arrays, allowing them to be implemented through varying dot density and/or by varying dot dimensions

Second life has been used by the travel and tourism industry as a collaborative and commercial tool for communicating with travelers as well as tourism enterprises in the areas of destination marketing (e.g. Tourism Ireland), business management (i.e. Starwood Hotels; Crowne Plaza; STA travel agents). However, few studies have applied theory to understand the significance of 3D virtual worlds to tourism destinations. Thus, the intent of the present study is to test the applicability the Self-Determination Theory in understanding the use of Second Life in destination marketing and its association to develop consideration and awareness for potential customers in their destination choice
Examining the relationship between processing fluency and memory for source information
Familiarity-based processes such as processing fluency can influence memory judgements in tests of item recognition. Many conventional accounts of source memory assume minimal influence of familiarity on source memory, but recent work has suggested that source memory judgements are affected when test stimuli are processed with greater fluency as a result of priming. The present experiments investigated the relationship between fluency and the accuracy of source memory decisions. Participants studied words presented with different source attributes. During test, they identified words that gradually clarified on screen through progressive demasking, made old/new and source memory judgements, and reported confidence ratings for those words. Response times (RTs) recorded from the item identification task formed the basis of a fluency measure, and identification RTs were compared across categories of item recognition, source accuracy and confidence. Identification RTs were faster in trials with correct retrieval of source information compared with trials for which source could not be accurately retrieved. These findings are consistent with the assumption that familiarity-based processes are related to source memory judgements
Maintenance of dynamic single-legged stability with delayed peroneal reaction time in collegiate footballers during a prolonged football simulation
The purpose of this study was to examine the change of peroneal reaction time and dynamic single-legged stability during a prolonged football match simulation. 12 collegiate footballers participated a Loughborough intermittent shuttle run protocol, within which peroneal reaction time and dynamic single-legged stability were measured to record the change. Results showed that during a prolonged fatiguing protocol, the peroneal reaction time increased significantly, whereas two indicators of the dynamic single-legged stability, root mean square of the mediolateral ground reaction force in 0.4 second of landing and late dynamic mediolateral ground reaction force, remained unchanged. The outcome indicated that the body might adopt different mechanism to maintain sensorimotor control in fatigue state
Keratin 6a marks mammary bipotential progenitor cells that can give rise to a unique tumor model resembling human normal-like breast cancer.
Progenitor cells are considered an important cell of origin of human malignancies. However, there has not been any single gene that can define mammary bipotential progenitor cells, and as such it has not been possible to use genetic methods to introduce oncogenic alterations into these cells in vivo to study tumorigenesis from them. Keratin 6a is expressed in a subset of mammary luminal epithelial cells and body cells of terminal end buds. By generating transgenic mice using the Keratin 6a (K6a) gene promoter to express tumor virus A (tva), which encodes the receptor for avian leukosis virus subgroup A (ALV/A), we provide direct evidence that K6a(+) cells are bipotential progenitor cells, and the first demonstration of a non-basal location for some biopotential progenitor cells. These K6a(+) cells were readily induced to form mammary tumors by intraductal injection of RCAS (an ALV/A-derived vector) carrying the gene encoding the polyoma middle T antigen. Tumors in this K6a-tva line were papillary and resembled the normal breast-like subtype of human breast cancer. This is the first model of this subtype of human tumors and thus may be useful for preclinical testing of targeted therapy for patients with normal-like breast cancer. These observations also provide direct in vivo evidence for the hypothesis that the cell of origin affects mammary tumor phenotypes
