擬エントロピーからの時間軸の創発 --ホログラフィック・エンタングルメントエントロピーの一般化. 京都大学プレスリリース. 2023-01-20.We study holographic entanglement entropy in dS/CFT and introduce timelike entanglement entropy in CFTs. Both of them take complex values in general and are related with each other via an analytical continuation. We argue that they are correctly understood as pseudoentropy. We find that the imaginary part of pseudoentropy implies an emergence of time in dS/CFT

    インターネット上の有害情報とマス・メディアの影響

In recent years, the rapid development and penetration of the Internet have brought about convenience to users on one hand, while on the other hand, so-called "black websites" are becoming a social issue. Consequently, there is an increasing numer of incidences where minors can get access to harmful material and consequently become involved in crime. To tackle such illegal and harmful information, the police have set up cyber patrols and are cracking down on those who post illegal information. Also, measures are being carried out by providers and ebulletin board administrators to prevent the sending of illegal or harmful information, and the filtering of information is performed by the receivers of information. But an enormous amount of new information is circulated daily on the Internet, and in addition, there is also data that is stored on servers installed abroad. It is very difficult to shield children from harmful web sites. The Japan Newspaper Publishers and Editors Association, which is the representative of the mass media, opposes any move that would appear to foster government intervention, because it must refrain from making any moves that would restrict the constitutionally-guaranteed freedom of expression. However, they find it unacceptable to help with the circulation of such harmful information. The mass media enterprises in the Internet age should change their business structures and strategies. The study described in this paper examines the influences of the mass media and harmful information on the Internet

PD-L1 expression is associated with the spontaneous regression of patients with methotrexate-associated lymphoproliferative disorders

Background Most patients with methotrexate-associated lymphoproliferative disorder (MTX-LPD) show diffuse large B-cell lymphoma (DLBCL) or classic Hodgkin lymphoma (CHL) types. Patients with MTX-LPD often have spontaneous remission after MTX discontinuation, but chemotherapeutic intervention is frequently required in patients with CHL-type MTX-LPD. In this study, we examined whether programmed cell death-ligand 1 (PD-L1) expression levels were associated with the prognosis of MTX-LPD after MTX discontinuation. Methods A total of 72 Japanese patients diagnosed with MTX-LPD were clinicopathologically analyzed, and immunohistochemical staining of PD-L1 was performed in 20 DLBCL-type and 24 CHL-type MTX-LPD cases to compare with the clinical course. Results PD-L1 was expressed in 5.0% (1/20) of patients with DLBCL-type MTX-LPD, whereas it was expressed in 66.7% (16/24) of the patients with CHL-type MTX-LPD in more than 51% of tumor cells. Most CHL-type MTX-LPD patients with high PD-L1 expression required chemotherapy owing to exacerbations or relapses after MTX discontinuation. However, no significant differences in clinicopathologic findings at diagnosis were observed between PD-L1 high- and low-expression CHL-type MTX-LPD. Conclusion PD-L1 expression was significantly higher in patients with CHL-type than DLBCL-type MTX-LPD, suggesting the need for chemotherapy in addition to MTX discontinuation in CHL-type MTX-LPD patients to achieve complete remission. No association was observed between PD-L1 expression levels and clinical findings at diagnosis, suggesting that PD-L1 expression in tumor cells influences the pathogenesis of CHL-type MTX-LPD after MTX discontinuation

A long-term follow-up of a girl with dilated cardiomyopathy after mitral valve replacement and septal anterior ventricular exclusion

We treated a 10 year 11 month old girl with severe mitral valve regurgitation, stenosis and dilated cardiomyopathy, presented with New York Heart Association (NYHA) functional classification IV. She acutely developed cardiogenic shock with a dyskinetic anterior-septal left ventricle and entered a shock state during our consultation about heart transplantation. Septal-anterior ventricular exclusion and mitral valve replacement were performed emergently. She successfully recovered from cardiogenic shock. Left ventricular end-diastolic diameter and fractional shortening improved from 71.5 mm (188.0% of normal) to 62.5 mm (144.2% of normal) and 7.6% to 18.3% respectively. Furthermore, her serum BNP decreased from 2217.5 pg/ml to 112.0 pg/ml. Her cardiac function has remained stable for 7 years since the procedures were performed

Circadian protection against bacterial skin infection by epidermal CXCL14-mediated innate immunity

体内時計は夜間に自然免疫を発動 --皮膚ケモカインによる自然免疫機構--. 京都大学プレスリリース. 2022-06-16.Biological clocks set for skin immunity. 京都大学プレスリリース. 2022-06-21.The epidermis is the outermost layer of the skin and the body’s primary barrier to external pathogens; however, the early epidermal immune response remains to be mechanistically understood. We show that the chemokine CXCL14, produced by epidermal keratinocytes, exhibits robust circadian fluctuations and initiates innate immunity. Clearance of the skin pathogen Staphylococcus aureus in nocturnal mice was associated with CXCL14 expression, which was high during subjective daytime and low at night. In contrast, in marmosets, a diurnal primate, circadian CXCL14 expression was reversed. Rhythmically expressed CXCL14 binds to S. aureus DNA and induces inflammatory cytokine production by activating Toll-like receptor (TLR)9-dependent innate pathways in dendritic cells and macrophages underneath the epidermis. CXCL14 also promoted phagocytosis by macrophages in a TLR9-independent manner. These data indicate that circadian production of the epidermal chemokine CXCL14 rhythmically suppresses skin bacterial proliferation in mammals by activating the innate immune system

Detection of Gamma-rays around 1TeV from RX J0852.0-4622 by CANGAROO-II

We have detected gamma-ray emission at the 6sigma level at energies greater than 500GeV from the supernova remnant RX J0852.0-4622 (G266.2-1.2) using the CANGAROO-II Imaging Atmospheric Cherenkov Telescope (IACT). The flux was 0.12 times of that of Crab at 1TeV. The signal centroid is consistent with the peak of the X-ray emission in the north-west rim of the remnant.Comment: 12pages, 4figures, to be published in ApJ
