Reproductive Wastage in Recurrent Partial Hydatidiform Mole: A Clinical Dilemma.
Recurrent partial Hydatidiform mole is an extremely rare clinical entity which represent a part of the gestational trophoblatic neoplasia spectrum. Since the first case was reported by Honore. LM in 1987 about eight cases of , recurrent partial moles have been reported in the English medical literature. Present two cases are the 9th and 10th case with recurrent partial moles to be described. We have discussed the aetiology, environmental factors, dietary habits , clinicopathologic features, the clinical dielemmas faced by us while counselling, follow up and pregnancy outcome in women presenting with two and three recurrent partial moles respectively. We have also reviewed the literature
Local Invariants and Pairwise Entanglement in Symmetric Multi-qubit System
Pairwise entanglement properties of a symmetric multi-qubit system are
analyzed through a complete set of two-qubit local invariants. Collective
features of entanglement, such as spin squeezing, are expressed in terms of
invariants and a classifcation scheme for pairwise entanglement is proposed.
The invariant criteria given here are shown to be related to the recently
proposed (Phys. Rev. Lett. 95, 120502 (2005)) generalized spin squeezing
inequalities for pairwise entanglement in symmetric multi-qubit states.Comment: 9 pages, 2 figures, REVTEX, Replaced with a published versio
Contaminated Fish Meal Diet Induces Hematological Alterations in Albino Rat, Rattus norvegicus (Album)
Fish inhabiting polluted waters accumulate various metals in tissues. The transfer of these into human beings through the food chain has adverse effects. The present study was undertaken to elicit the effect of consumption of contaminated fish meal on the hematological parameters of albino rats, Rattus norvegicus (Album). Thirty rats, weighing 45-50gms and randomly divided into 5 groups (n=6), were used for this study. Group I served as control and were given normal diet, group V were given only contaminated fish meal diet while group II, III and IV were given a mixture of normal and contaminated fish meal diet in the ratio of 1:1, 1:2 and 1:3, respectively. All experiments were carried out for 90 days. Results of blood parameters revealed significant reduction (P< 0.05) in Total erythrocyte count (TEC), Hemoglobin (Hb) and packed cell volume (PCV) in group IV and V when compared to control. Leukocytes count showed a significant decrease (P<0.05) in group IV and V. These effects may be due to the presence of heavy metals in the fish meal given to experimental rats. It is therefore concluded that consumption of fish from polluted waters is always associated with health risks
Equivalence between two-mode spin squeezed states and pure entangled states with equal spin
We prove that a pure entangled state of two subsystems with equal spin is
equivalent to a two-mode spin-squeezed state under local operations except for
a set of bipartite states with measure zero, and we provide a counterexample to
the generalization of this result to two subsystems of unequal spin.Comment: 6 pages, no figure
Ornamental Fish Fauna of Adda Hole: Kabbinale Forest Range, Southern Western Ghats, Karnataka, India
Adda-hole stream is a 14 km long perennial stream belonging to Kabbinale forest of Gundia region. It is free from pollution and has different habitats, each with diverse ornamental fish population. The ornamental fish of Adda-hole was studied between April 2011 and April 2012. This study revealed a total number of 17 different species of fish belonging to 9 different families, of which 7 species are endemic. According to the IUCN (2011), C. imitator and E. canarensis have been analysed as Data Deficient and Endangered respectively. These two species are restricted to Southern Western Ghats. So far, there is no record of any alien fish species which could be a threat to the ornamental fish fauna. This particular study indicates that this stream can be considered for conservation of some endemic ornamental fishes in Western Ghats
Study of Ornamental Fish Diversity and Water Quality of Adda Hole Stream, Kabbinale Forest Range, Western Ghats
Addahole stream belongs to Kabbinale forest of Gundia region. The water quality and ornamental fish diversity were examined. The stream water is fast and slow flowing with clear water and rocky, sandy, leafy substrate. This stream is about 14 kms long, perennial and has different habitats with diverse ornamental fish population. Results revealed the mean values of water quality of all samples collected from different sampling sites were pH 5.50, Water temperature 27.5°C, dissolved oxygen 6.32 mg/l and total dissolved solids 53.06 mg/l. The mean air temperature was 30.3°C. Fish diversity showed presence of twelve different species, belonging to six different families, of which the family Cyprinidae was dominant with Rasboradaniconius and Puntiussps being the most abundant in all seasons. Fish diversity is correlated with physicochemical parameters. The total number of taxa and individuals showed positive correlation with water and air temperature. But it showed negative correlation with dissolved oxygen and positive correlation with total dissolved solids. Shannon-Weaver diversity indices showed positive correlation with air temperature
Mobilisation of Organic Reserves during Moult Cycle in the Prawn Penaeus indicus (H. Milne Edwards)
Organic reserves like lipid, cholesterol, protein, glycogen and glucose in muscle, hepawpancreas and haemolymph of
P. indicusduring different stages of moult cycle were estimated. High values of these organic reserves obtained at early premoult
stage (D 1) followed by a significant decrease at late premoult stage (D4) indicated marked storage and subsequent
utilization during stages D 1 to D4. Low values were observed at stage A (early post-moult) confirming depletion iri the reserves
just after moulting. High percentage of water found in the muscle during post-moult stage A and low values during
premoult stage (D 1), in contrast to the pattern observed for organic reserves during this period substantiated the concept of
tissue growth by replacement of water during the periods between the moults
Non-local properties of a symmetric two-qubit system
Non-local properties of symmetric two-qubit states are quantified in terms of
a complete set of entanglement invariants. We prove that negative values of
some of the invariants are signatures of quantum entanglement. This leads us to
identify sufficient conditions for non-separability in terms of entanglement
invariants. Non-local properties of two-qubit states extracted from (i) Dicke
state (ii) state generated by one-axis twisting Hamiltonian, and (iii)
one-dimensional Ising chain with nearest neighbour interaction are analyzed in
terms of the invariants characterizing them.Comment: 5 pages, no figure
Effect of Contaminated Fish Meal Diet on Estrous Cycle, Hormones and Biochemical Changes in Ovary and Uterus of Rattus Norvegicus
The aim of the present investigation was to evaluate the adverse effects of consumption of contaminated fish meal diet on estrous cycle, hormones and biochemical constituents in ovary and uterus of Albino rats, Rattus norvegicus. Rats were randomly distributed into five groups (n=6), Group I served as control, while group II, III and IV received combination of fish meal ratios and group V only fish meal diet for 90 days respectively. Result revealed fish meal diet arrested the normal estrous cycle at diestrous phase and reduction in protein, glycogen, and cholesterol in ovary and increase cholesterol content in uterus of experimental groups. Gradual decrease of estrogen indicated the fall of hormonal levels in all experimental groups (p< 0.05) and increase of progesterone led to prolonged diestrous phase. These changes indicates alteration in the physiology of the animal to toxic substance in contaminated fish meal diet which has a negative implication on the reproductive performance of rat
