Jacobson generators of the quantum superalgebra and Fock representations
As an alternative to Chevalley generators, we introduce Jacobson generators
for the quantum superalgebra . The expressions of all
Cartan-Weyl elements of in terms of these Jacobson generators
become very simple. We determine and prove certain triple relations between the
Jacobson generators, necessary for a complete set of supercommutation relations
between the Cartan-Weyl elements. Fock representations are defined, and a
substantial part of this paper is devoted to the computation of the action of
Jacobson generators on basis vectors of these Fock spaces. It is also
determined when these Fock representations are unitary. Finally, Dyson and
Holstein-Primakoff realizations are given, not only for the Jacobson
generators, but for all Cartan-Weyl elements of .Comment: 27 pages, LaTeX; to be published in J. Math. Phy
Topologically protected surface Majorana arcs and bulk Weyl fermions in ferromagnetic superconductors
A number of ferromagnetic superconductors have been recently discovered which
are believed to be in the so-called "equal spin pairing" (ESP) state. In the
ESP state the Cooper pairs condense forming order parameters
which are decoupled
in the spin-sector. We show that these three-dimensional systems should
generically support topologically protected surface Majorana arcs and bulk Weyl
fermions as gapless excitations. Similar protected low-energy exotic
quasiparticles should also appear in the recently discovered
non-centrosymmteric superconductors in the presence of a Zeeman field. The
protected surface arcs can be probed by angle-resolved photoemission (ARPES) as
well as scanning tunneling microscope (STM) experiments.Comment: 5 pages and 2 figures; Figure 2 revised, typos correcte
Structure of the sigma meson and the softening
We study the structure of the sigma meson, the lowest-lying resonance of the
pi pi scattering in the scalar-isoscalar channel, through the softening
phenomena associated with the partial restoration of chiral symmetry. We build
dynamical chiral models to describe the pi pi scattering amplitude, in which
the sigma meson is described either as the chiral partner of the pion or as the
dynamically generated resonance through the pi pi attraction. It is shown that
the internal structure is reflected in the softening phenomena; the softening
pattern of the dynamically generated sigma meson is qualitatively different
from the behavior of the chiral partner of the pion. On the other hand, in the
symmetry restoration limit, the dynamically generated sigma meson behaves
similarly to the chiral partner.Comment: 10 pages, 2 figures, 1 table, talk give at HNP09, November 16-19,

Pseudonoise code tracking loop
A delay-locked loop is presented for tracking a pseudonoise (PN) reference code in an incoming communication signal. The loop is less sensitive to gain imbalances, which can otherwise introduce timing errors in the PN reference code formed by the loop
Flying qualities criteria for superaugmented aircraft
An overview of Dryden superaugmented aircraft flying qualities research is presented. This includes F-8 digital fly by wire flight experiments, orbiter flying qualities, shuttle improvements, AFTI/F-16, flying qualities and control system alternatives, Vertical Motion Simulator Shuttle evaluation and Total in Flight Simulator pitch rate criteria
A q-deformation of the parastatistics and an alternative to the Chevalley description of
The paper contains essentially two new results. Physically, a deformation of
the parastatistics in a sense of quantum groups is carried out. Mathematically,
an alternative to the Chevalley description of the quantum orthosymplectic
superalgebra U_q[osp(2n+1/2m)] in terms of pairs of deformed parabosons and
pairs of deformed parafermions is outlined.Comment: 14 pages, TeX, minor misprints corrected. To be published in Comm.
