    Synthesis and Antibacterial Activity of Rutile-TiO2 ‎Nano Powder Prepared by Hydrothermal Process ‎

    حضر اوكسيد التيتانيوم النانوي نوع روتايل (r-TiO2) بتقنية الحراره المائيه في الأوتكليف، حصل التفاعل بين رباعي كلوريد التيتانيوم ومزيج متكون من ماء لاايوني وايثانول بنسبة (37:) على التوالي. جفف الناتج ولدن عند 400 °م.  التركيب وطوبوغرافية السطح لاوكسيد التيتانيوم تم تشخيصها بواسطة قياسات حيود الاشعة السينية (XRD) ، المجهر الألكتروني الماسح (SEM), مجهر القوة الذرية (AFM) ومطيافية الأشعة تحت الحمراء (FT-IR) والأشعة فوق البنفسجية/المرئية (UV/Visible). تم دراسة تاثير الاوكسيد المخصر على نوعين من البكتريا الغرامية السالبة (Escherichia coli) والموجبة (Staphylococcus aurous ). بينت الدراسة ان اوكسيد التيتانيوم النانوي نوع الروتايل (r-TiO2) له فعالية مضادة للبكتريا ويمكن استخدامه كمضاد بكتيري لمختلف الاغراضRutile titanium dioxide (r-TiO2) Nano powder has been synthesized by hydrothermal method in autoclave. The reaction took place between titanium tetrachloride (TiCI4) and mixture solution consisted of deionized water and ethanol, in the ratio (3:7) respectively. The product has been dried and annealed at 400°C. The structure, morphology and the particle size of the Nano powder were investigated by X-ray Diffraction, Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM), Atomic Force Microscope (AFM), FT-IR and UV/visible spectroscopy measurements. The effect of r-TiO2 on gram-negative bacteria Escherichia coli (E. coli) and gram-positive bacteria Staphylococcus aurous (S. aureus) has been studied. This study showed that rutile TiO2 Nano powder has efficient antibacterial activity, and can use as an antibacterial agent for different purpose

MnO2 was annealed at different temperatures (250, 400, 550, 700˚C). The crystal structure and surface morphology of these nanostructures were characterized by X-ray diffraction (XRD), Atomic Force Microscope (AFM) and Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM). The catalase mimic activity (catalytic activity) of MnO2 against hydrogen peroxide (H2O2) was studied by using the new method and found that 400˚C is the best annealing temperature

    Investigating kinematics and dynamics of three open clusters towards Galactic anti-center

    We present the intra-cluster kinematics and dynamics of three open clusters: NGC 1193, NGC 2355, and King 12 by incorporating kinematical and photometric data from Gaia DR3, as well as a ground-based telescope. After selecting cluster members based on proper motion data, clusters' fundamental and structural parameters are investigated. We found the clusters at distances of 4.45, 1.97, and 3.34 kpc from the Sun in the direction of the Galactic anticenter. The luminosity function of the cluster NGC 1193 is flat, whereas it advances towards the fainter ends of the other two clusters. We observed a dip in the luminosity function of King 12. The mass function slopes for all three clusters differ from the solar neighbourhood reported by Salpeter, with NGC 1193 and NGC 2355 being flatter and King 12 having a higher value than the Salpeter value. The intra-cluster kinematics depict that stars in King 12 are moving outwards due to tidal forces from the Galactic disc, which we confirmed by plotting the cluster's orbit in the Galaxy. Stars in NGC 2355 are moving with smaller relative velocities and have zero mean relative motion, which signifies that the cluster is neither contracting nor evaporating. The Galactic orbits of NGC 1193 suggest that it is orbiting farther from the Galactic disc, and so is less impacted by the Galactic tidal forces.Comment: This article has been accepted for the publication in the Monthly Notices of the Royal Astronomical Society and contains total 19 pages, 22 figures and 11 table

    Proper motions and membership probabilities of stars in the region of globular cluster NGC 6809

    NGC 6809 is a luminous metal-poor halo globular cluster that is relatively easy to study due to its proximity and low concentration. Because of its high Galactic latitude (b = -23deg), interstellar reddening and contamination is not very high. We aim to determine the relative proper motion and membership probability of the stars in the wide area of globular cluster NGC 6809. To target cluster members reliably during spectroscopic surveys and both spatial and radial distributions in the cluster outskirts without including field stars, a good proper motion and membership probability catalogue of NGC 6809 is required.The archival data of two epochs with a time-base line of 7.1 years have been collected with Wide Field Imager (WFI) mounted on the 2.2m MPG/ESO telescope. The CCD images of both epochs have been reduced using the astrometric techniques as described in Anderson et al. (2006). The calibrated UBVI magnitudes have been derived using Stetson's secondary standard stars. We derived the relative proper motion and membership probabilities for \sim 12600 stars in the field of globular cluster NGC 6809. The measurement error in proper motions for the stars of V \sim 17 mag is 2.0 mas/yr, gradually increasing up to \sim 3 mas/yr at V = 20 mag. We also provide the membership probability for the published different types of sources in NGC 6809. An electronic catalogue with proper motion and membership probability for the stars will be available to the astronomical community.Comment: Accepted for publication in The A&A. 11 pages. 11 figures,5 Table

    Facial skin metastasis due to small-cell lung cancer: a case report

    <p>Abstract</p> <p>Introduction</p> <p>Cutaneous metastases in the facial region occur in less than 0.5% of patients with metastatic cancer. They are an important finding and are not often the first sign leading to diagnosis.</p> <p>Case presentation</p> <p>We describe the case of a 64-year-old male patient who presented with dyspnea, pleuritic pain, loss of weight and a nodule on his left cheek. A chest X-ray revealed a left upper lobe mass with mediastinal lymphadenopathy. Excision biopsy of the facial nodule revealed small-cell lung carcinoma. Palliative chemo-radiotherapy was administered and the patient survived for 12 months.</p> <p>Conclusion</p> <p>A high index of suspicion is necessary for the early detection of facial cutaneous metastases. Appropriate treatment may prolong patient survival.</p
