Hip Hop, Religion and the Youth of Romania: A Preliminary Study
For the past two decades, Hip Hop has attained a significant presence in Romania. The fall of Communism as well as growing social unrest has led a growing number of Hip Hop artists to incorporate strong Orthodox and nationalist messages into their lyrics. However, not all Hip Hop fans advocate this stance. This essay argues for an investigation of how Romanian youth respond to the religious and spiritual lyrics in Hip Hop. This mixed-methods study examines whether Romanian youth gravitate toward spiritual-oriented messages or religious-oriented messages and are thus, hardcore listeners or casual listeners. The results of the study highlight Romanian youthâs support of religious/spiritual Hip Hop as well as the ability of religion to foster tolerance
Cesarean scar defects and placental abnormalities â a 3 year survey study
The placenta is an essential organ for embryonic and fetal development, ensuring nutrient uptake, gas exchange (via the mother\u27s blood supply), waste elimination, thermo-regulation, immunological and hormonal factors, etc. The most common placental abnormalities are represented by placenta previa, and a morbidly adherent placenta (in the form of accreta, increta, and percreta placenta). This study was performed on a sample of 99 patients diagnosed with abnormalities of placentation who underwent cesarian delivery during a period of 3 years in Bucur Maternity Hospital. Seven patients were diagnosed with morbidly adherent placenta (5 accreta and 2 percreta subtypes), the others having placenta previa (65 with lateral disposition, 18 marginal, and 9 central insertion). All patients had been diagnosed by ultrasound (which was also used for general monitoring), being confirmed during operation and histopathologically. Complications required 4 emergency peripartum hysterectomies, with no maternal mortality but with fetal death in one case. The research literature shows that about half of women with placenta previa have several episodes of bleeding, being the leading cause of antepartum hemorrhage. For some women with placenta previa/accrete, hemorrhaging is severe and requires hysterectomy as a necessary step to control the life-threatening situation. Thus, such patients should be carefully monitored to avoid as much as possible the medical, social, and psychological implications of this critical therapeutic procedure
Electronic Transport Properties of Pentacene Single Crystals upon Exposure to Air
We report the effect of air exposure on the electronic properties of
pentacene single crystals. Air can diffuse reversibly in and out of the
crystals and controls the physical properties. We discern two competing
mechanisms that modulate the electronic transport. The presence of oxygen
increases the hole conduction, as in dark four O2 molecules introduce one
charge carrier. This effect is enhanced by the presence of visible light.
Contrarily, water, present in ambient air, is incorporated in the crystal
lattice and forms trapping sites for injected charges.Comment: 16 pages, 3 figure
Carving Out a Niche for Humanitarianism within the Responsibility to Protect
Humanitarian action aims to alleviate the humanitarian symptoms of crises, yet humanitarian ideals have been stretched in ways relief workers never expected. For one, the right of humanitarian intervention rests on the premise that war, whose nature provides the rationale for killing, may be labeled a humanitarian act if waged for humanitarian ends. Humanitarian relief organizations oppose the misleading and manipulative labeling of conflicts that contradict the fundamental rationale of humanitarian actionâthe alleviation of suffering. At the turn of the twenty-first century, the international community engaged in a dialogue that gave birth to the concept of the âResponsibility to Protect.â In this article, I identify the problematic implications of humanitarian intervention from a humanitarian actorâs perspective. RtoP, an emerging international norm, has the potential to remedy some of the contradictions inherent in humanitarian intervention. I argue that humanitarian actors can operate within the multi-dimensional paradigm of the RtoP doctrine in order to advance its goals and ultimately alleviate the most suffering

Influencing the physiology and decisions of groups: Physiological linkage during group decision-making
Many of the most important decisions in our society are made within groups, yet we know little about how the physiological responses of group members predict the decisions that groups make. In the current work, we examine whether physiological linkage from âsendersâ to âreceiversââwhich occurs when a senderâs physiological response predicts a receiverâs physiological responseâis associated with sendersâ success at persuading the group to make a decision in their favor. We also examine whether experimentally manipulated statusâan important predictor of social behaviorâis associated with physiological linkage. In groups of 5, we randomly assigned 1 person to be high status, 1 low status, and 3 middle status. Groups completed a collaborative decision-making task that required them to come to a consensus on a decision to hire 1 of 5 firms. Unbeknownst to the 3 middle-status members, high- and low-status members surreptitiously were told to each argue for different firms. We measured cardiac interbeat intervals of all group members throughout the decision-making process to assess physiological linkage. We found that the more receivers were physiologically linked to senders, the more likely groups were to make a decision in favor of the senders. We did not find that people were physiologically linked to their group members as a function of their fellow group membersâ status. This work identifies physiological linkage as a novel correlate of persuasion and highlights the need to understand the relationship between group membersâ physiological responses during group decision-making

Positive surgical margins in nephron-sparing surgery; the great unknown
There is a currently a general trend towards organ-preserving surgery, and urology is no exception. Specifically, nephron-sparing surgery (NSS) has gained general acceptance for T1a renal cell carcinoma (guidelines recommendations). Moreover T1b, T2 and even T3 stage tumors have been included on the nephron sparing list at some centers. An unresolved issue is that of positive surgical margins (PSM), not only their detection but also the implications for follow up and treatment. This paper highlights data available on risk factors for PSM, their clinical relevance, and possible therapeutic consequences.
From the surgeonâs viewpoint, NSS is a daring and risky surgical procedure. Urological guidelines stress the importance of NSS, and thus the trend is moving in that direction. Unresolved, however, is the problem of PSM. Trifecta, MIC, and pentafecta are applicable concepts which attempt to define the optimal endpoint of NSS, but further elaboration is necessary. Specifically, research needs to focus less on the concept of definitive margins and more on their identification and avoidance. Although some studies suggest that PSMs do not influence overall survival rate, the basic idea of preserving tissue that is not cancerous leads to further medical, social, and psychological considerations
ASPECTS REGARDING THE REGULATORY RISKS RELATED TO SHAREHOLDERïąS EQUITY
These instructions The set of regulations regarding the shareholdersâ equity may also include aspects which, by an inadequate interpretation, represent risk factors. Thus, the research performed within this material identifies the main regulatory risks of this kind, specific to subsequent establishment and operation of trading companies, as well as those in connection with their amalgamation, dissolution and liquidation operations.shareholdersâ equity, initial regulatory risks, ulterior regulatory risks, accounting information.
The correlation between histopathological and ultrasound findings regarding Cesarean section scars â A three-year survey study
The cesarean operation represents a major surgery, with a higher risk of postoperative complications and longer postoperative recovery than vaginal delivery.
Due to the increasing frequency of cesarean sections, the ultrasound imaging of the uterine scar has become a particularly useful tool in identifying its potential long-term complications. This should be done pre-conceptively and quarterly or whenever necessary during pregnancy.
Currently, there are only few histopathological studies on the uterine scar, trying to assess the myometrial repair and certain factors that influence the quality of the scar.
The study was performed on a batch of 123 patients with previous C-sections, with multiple ultrasound exams during pregnancy and post-operative pathologic evaluation of the uterine scar in order to assess the possibility of a new prognostic score by correlating these two factors.
Our study found solid evidence related to possible correlations between histopathological and ultrasound data on the cesarean section scar, which could lead to a possible predictive algorithm with implications for both prognostic and therapeutic fields
A missing link? Maintaining support for the European polity after the Russian invasion of Ukraine
Recent research argues that external threats like war spur EU polity formation (Kelemen & McNamara, 2022). One key mechanism of this process is public support for policy responses designed by policymakers. However, like the ârally-round-the-flagâ effect (Mueller, 1970), public support wanes over time and we decompose this decrease into two elements: salience and polarisation at the domestic level for national and European policies in both soft and hard security (aid and sanctions). We show that while salience can sustain public support for European policy innovations, polarisation about national and (unexpectedly) European policies accelerates its decline. We thus qualify the story of EU polity formation through external security crises
