    KALYANAKARAKAM – A GEM OF AYURVEDA

    Background: The origin of Ayurveda is lost in mysteries of time; since the earliest human civilization, man has sought ways to heal himself. Human civilization progressed, bringing in sophisticated thought & research behind medicine. It is believed that a system of medicine was prevalent in India in pre Vedic times. The Vedas are the earliest written records of the wisdom & insights of Indian seekers & scholars. Medicine is an ever changing science. Literary research is must in today’s perspective to get the hidden & unexplored knowledge. On this regard many Acharya’s contributed to ancient science i.e. Ayurveda. Jain seers have written several texts in Sanskrit on Ayurveda they are similar in content & finding to Vedic text. One among them is Kalyanakarakam, was composed by Acarya Ugraditya, a Jain monk who is believed to have lived in the 9th century of the Common Era. This text comprises of 667 Sanskrit hemistich divided into 25 chapters and one special section on predicting death. The chapters cover all aspects of Ayurveda with great depth and thoroughness. Aims & Objective: 1) To compile the literature bearing Svastha Rakshana i.e. preventive aspects in the form of Dinacharya (daily regimen), Rutu-charya (seasonal regimen) etc. &some other concepts like knowledge about Prakruti (nature) Desha (region), Kala (time), important anatomical structures, and regimens for pregnant women etc. Materials & Methods: Study aims to review the preventive aspects which are mentioned in Kalyanakarakam. Conclusion: Inculcating all the concepts which elucidates the concept of prevention is much essential in today’s perspective

    Large number of population suffers from low back pain. Chronic low back pain (CLBP) prevalence increases linearly from the third decade of life on, until the 60 years of age, being more prevalent in women. Sciatica is the most common debilitating condition causes CLBP. Radiating leg pain and related disabilities are the observed in sciatica. Nearly 40% people experience sciatic pain at some point in their life. The diagnosis of sciatica and its management varies considerably within and between countries. Conventional Medicine and surgery are widely used in the management of sciatica. There is radical rise in the use of Complementary and Alternative Medicine (CAM) in patients with sciatica. Ayurveda is one of the widely used CAM in the recent past. Sciatica resembles the disease Gridharsi of Ayurveda. Gridharsi is one among the Vataja nanatmaja vyadhi, where dysfunction of Vata affect gridharsi nadi characterized by low back pain radiating to lower limbs, stiffness and pricking type of pain. It starts from kati- prishta (pelvic region and Lumbosacral) radiating to jangha paada (Thigh, Feets) with impairment of lifting the leg. The gait of the person is very similar to vulture (Gridhra) hence the name is given as Gridharsi. In this article, attempt has been made to review the Ayurvedic classics text and related literatures to understand the disease Gridharsi with emphasis on its samprapti on the basis of Kriyakala and role of Shodhana and Shamana chikitsa in the management of Gridharsi

    Proximate analysis and mineral characterization of Barringtonia species

    The study about material contained in Barringtonia seeds were conducted at the first time using the standard procedure of AOAC. For present work, two species of Barringtonia were selected viz., B. acutangula and B. racemosa . The proximate composition and mineral constituents of Barringtonia seeds were evaluated. The B. acutangula seeds contained ash 4.24%, crude protein 9.23%, crude lipids 0.68%, crude fibre13.54% and carbohydrates 66.17%. While in seeds of B. racemosa, ash 4.02%, crude protein 12.09%, crude lipids 0.75%, crude fibre15.18% and carbohydrates: 64.67% were observed. Both the species have a high energy value on dry basis. Comparing the mineral content with recommended dietary allowances (RDA), the results indicated that seeds of B. acutangula fruits could be a good supplement for some nutrients such as calcium, fibre and carbohydrates, whereas the B. racemosa seeds could be a good supplement for some nutrients such as fibre, potassium, zinc and carbohydrates. The seeds of Barringtonia could be promoted as a carbohydrate supplement. Hence, this piece of work acclaims the potential of Barringtonia species indicating its proximate and mineral composition

    In support of the growing interest in quantum computing experimentation, programmers need new tools to write quantum algorithms as program code. Compared to debugging classical programs, debugging quantum programs is difficult because programmers have limited ability to probe the internal states of quantum programs; those states are difficult to interpret even when observations exist; and programmers do not yet have guidelines for what to check for when building quantum programs. In this work, we present quantum program assertions based on statistical tests on classical observations. These allow programmers to decide if a quantum program state matches its expected value in one of classical, superposition, or entangled types of states. We extend an existing quantum programming language with the ability to specify quantum assertions, which our tool then checks in a quantum program simulator. We use these assertions to debug three benchmark quantum programs in factoring, search, and chemistry. This paper represents a system implemented by using Raspberry Pi 3 and GPRS module. Transmitter section is implemented at remote area where images are captured by using USB camera interfaced with Raspberry pi. Images are compressed by software programming using libjpeg library and uploaded to HTTP server via SIM900A/800 GSM/GPRS module. Internet connection is established using PPP stack of SIM900A/800 GSM/GPRS module. Receiver section is monitoring center where images are downloaded using 3g or Wi-Fi wireless connection. Received images are decompressed and streamed on web browser using MJPG streamer

    Solvent Effect on Fluorescence Quenching of 7, 8 Benzo‑4‑azido Methyl Coumarin by Aniline

    Fluorescence quenching of biologically active studies of 7, 8 benzo-4-azidomethyl coumarin (7BAMC) by aniline in four different organic solvents namely benzene, dioxane, tetrahydrofuran and acetonitrile has been carried out at room temperature with a view to understand the quenching mechanisms. The Stern–Volmer (S-V) plot has been found to be non-linear with a positive deviation for all the solvents studied. In order to interpret these results we have invoked the ground state complex formation and sphere of action static quenching models. Using these models various quenching rate parameters have been determined. The magnitudes of these parameters suggest that sphere of action static quenching model agrees well with the experimental results. Hence the positive deviation is attributed to the static and dynamic quenching. Further, with the use of Finite Sink approximation model, it was possible to check these bimolecular reactions as diffusion-limited and to estimate independently distance parameter R’ and mutual diffusion coefficient D. Finally an effort has been made to correlate the values of R’ and D with the values of the encounter distance R and the mutual coefficient D determined using the Edward’s empirical relation and Stokes – Einstein relation

    MANGO STARCH: ITS USE AND FUTURE PROSPECTS

    Mango (Mangifera indica L.) is tropical fruit with high nutritional value. The aim of present work was to isolate the starch from black variety of mango and evaluate the physicochemical as well as functional properties. Starch is widely used in the food and pharmaceutical industries for various applications. These industries depend on crops that are also the traditional sources of food resulting high demands with consequence economic implications. The results showed that the moisture content (14.93%) was higher while ash content (0.12%) was low. Amylose content was 35.06%. It was observed that the onset gelatinization temperature of the starch ranged from 50°C whereas, the conclusion gelatinization temperature was from 91-92.5°C. The starch show adequate properties and could be alternative source for the production of industrial products that may require starch.Â
