Background: Tocolytic agents are used to reduce preterm deliveries. Very few studies documenting the comparison of tocolytic agents viz. nifedipine, nitroglycerin dermal patches and isoxsuprine. Other drugs are not used due to their adverse effects. Objective was to study and compare the safety efficacy of nifedipine, nitroglycerin dermal patches and isoxsuprine as tocolytic agents in suppression of preterm labour 1 year study. Methods: This was a prospective case control study was conducted for a period of 1 year. Total 90 cases selected to study were randomly distribute in to three treatment groups viz. A, B, and C nifedipine, nitroglycerin and isoxsuprine respectively. Subjects in all three groups were evaluated for maternal pulse rate, palpitation uterine contractions and fetal heart rate in order to assess efficacy of each drug under investigation. Results: There was no statistically significant difference in age of womanā€™s in three different groups. Among (100%) subjects, majority of the cases i.e. (27.8%) primi gravida followed by multi (72.2%). Side effects of nifedipine was less when compared to nitroglycerine dermal patch and isoxsuprine i/v/o of headache (8.9%), nausea (1.1%), vomiting (1.1%), tachycardia (3.3%), palpitation (3.3%), hypotension (1.1%). side effects were statistically significant different between the treatment groups. There was no statistically significant difference with respect to APGAR score at 1 minute and 5 minutes. Conclusions: Oral nifedipine was found to be superior and efficacious as tocolytic agent as compared to transdermal nitroglycerin and intravenous isoxsuprine

In Tamilnadu, Ariyalur district contributes a major share of cluster onion production. An ideotype popular among the growers of this locality is preferred by consumers of entire state for its size, storability and taste. Hence the present investigation was carried out the in a farmerā€™s field at Vennallur located in Ariyalur District during 2017. The experiment was laid out with seven treatments in randomized block design. Each treatment was replicated thrice. The treatments included three kinds of practices adopted by the farmers of the tract and four others where bulky organic manures (Vermicompost, Poultry manure) and concentrated organic manures (Neem cake and Groundnut cake) were substituted on ā€˜Nā€™ equivalent basis, along with biofertilizers (Azospirillum and Phosphobacteria) and foliar spray of Panchakavya (3%). All the four treatments with organic inputs (T4 to T7) gave better results, when compared to farmerā€™s practice (T1 and T2). Though T3 was the best, incorporation of Poultry manure+Neem cake (T6) and Poultry manure+Groundnut cake (T7) along with Biofertilizer+Panchakavya 3 % improved the yield significantly in order

Accident Prevention System and Security for Vehicles

Abstract --This Project focuses mainly on road accidents occurring due to poor indication of sign boards, drowsy state and drunken state of drivers in both two wheelers and four wheelers. The eye blink sensor detects the drowsy state and alarms the driver using buzzer .The alcohol sensor detects the alcohol from breath and stops the engine by micro controller immediately .The light sensor detects the intensity of the light and adjusts it accordingly. The zones are indicated by placing the transmitter modules at particular zones. Vehicle Theft is prevented by making use of Transmitter-Receiver module

Magnetic anomalies over the Andaman Islands and their geological significance

    Get PDF
The Andaman Islands form part of the outer-arc accretionary sedimentary complex belonging to the Andamanā€“Sumatra active subduction zone. The islands are characterized by thick cover of Neogene sediments along with exposed ophiolite rocks at few places. A regional magnetic survey was carried out for the first time over the Andaman Islands with a view to understand the correlation of anomaly signatures with surface geology of the islands. The residual total field magnetic anomaly maps have revealed distinct magnetic anomalies having intermediate to high amplitude magnetic signatures and correlate with the areas over/close to the exposed ophiolite rocks along the east coast of north, middle and the south Andaman Islands. The 2D modelling of magnetic anomalies along selected Eā€“W profiles across the islands indicate that the ophiolite bodies extend to a depth of about 5ā€“8 km and spatially correlate with the mapped fault/thrust zones

The Influence of L-Carnitine on Oxidative Modification of LDL In Vitro

    Get PDF
Owing to their structure and function, low-density lipoproteins (LDLs) are particularly susceptible to the oxidative modifications. To prevent against oxidative modification of LDL, L-carnitine, with endogenous small water-soluble quaternary amine possessing antioxidative properties, was used. The aim of this paper was to prove the in vitro influence of L-carnitine on the degree of oxidative modification of the lipid part (estimated by conjugated dienes, lipid hydroperoxides, and malondialdehyde levels) and the protein part (estimated by dityrosine and tryptophan levels) of LDL native and oxidized by cooper ions. The level of lipophylic LDL antioxidantā€”Ī±-tocopherol was also measured
