    Peranan Biogas Limbah Ternak Sapi Bantuan PT. Petrochina Bagi Peternak Di Kabupaten Tanjung Jabung Timur Provinsi Jambi

    The research is aimed to find out how much is the production of biogas from cow dirt, subsidized by PT Petrochina, and it's role to fulfill veterinarian's necessity at Tanjung Jabung Timur regency. The research's method is survey method by using analysis unit of cow veterinarians subsidized by PT Petrochina. The research's respondents are choosen purposively (Nasir M 1983). The analysis used here is descriptive analysis. The analysis result shows that from 33 people (100% of respondents), the total amount of veterinarian has got cow as much as 65,5 UT and could get cow's dirt as much as 8952,72 kg / KK / year and resulted biogas in average as much as 1253,39 M 3 /KK/year. While, before veterinarian used biogas, they have spent gasoline and wood as much as 273,72 litre/KK / year and 303,88 bounded of wood / KK/year. In conclusion, biogas has important role as alternative energy for veterinarian to sustitute gasoline and woods, and could ease energy cost so that veterinarian need only 1.177.125 litre gasoline/ KK / year and 1.311.237 bounded of wood / KK / year

    The aim of this project was to reveal economical aspect of rearing beef in integrited farming system systyem in east Tanjung Jabung Regency. Method used was survey method. Including palm oil farmer reored beef catle in programe of CSR of Petrochina. Sampling is this study were farmer chosed inpurposive sampling. Statistical analysis used analisys of farm net cash flow (Soekartawi, 1995). Result of this study showed the farmer income in this method (integriled beef and falm oil was tolaly Rp. 213.053,560/year with Rp. 144,446,560/year and Rp. 68,607,000/year for beef and palm oil respectively.If might be concluded that the CSR programe bald provide the average income was Rp. 8,024,809/year/head or contributing 67,79% of total farmer income, but rearing beef cattle could be part ot farmer (farm)

    The Presence of Salmonella in Sie Balu, Acehnese Dried Meat After Gamma Irradiation

    Sie balu is an Acehnese dried meat preserved by the addition of salt, acid and dried. However, long processing and drying it under the sun can cause meat products contaminated by Salmonella. Irradiation can eliminate Salmonella and other pathogenic bacteria in food. This study aims to determine the presence of Salmonella in sie balu after irradiated with increasing doses and 2 to 4 months shelf life. Sie balu was made of 5 kg fresh beef, dried under the sun to dry, vacuum and irradiated at doses of 5, 7 and 9 kGy. Salmonella was detected using bacteriological and biochemical tests. Results showed sie balu contaminated by Salmonella paratyphi B and Salmonella cholerasuis. The irradiation and shelf life significantly affect (P<0.05) the count of Salmonella in sie balu compared with unirradiated one. Irradiation doses of 5, 7 and 9 kGy do not affect the count of Salmonella in sie balu. Extending the shelf life up to 4 months can increas the count of Salmonella.
