LC/MS Guided Isolation of Alkaloids from Lotus Leaves by pH-Zone-Refining Counter-Current Chromatography
The traditional methods used in natural product separation primarily target the major components and the minor components may thus be lost during the separation procedure. Consequently, it’s necessary to develop efficient methods for the preparative separation and purification of relatively minor bioactive components. In this paper, a LC/MS method was applied to guide the separation of crude extract of lotus (Nelumbo nucifera Gaertn.) leaves whereby a minor component was identified in the LC/MS analysis. Afterwards, an optimized pH-zone-refining CCC method was performed to isolate this product, identified as N-demethylarmepavine. The separation procedure was carried out with a biphasic solvent system composed of hexane-ethyl acetate-methyl alcohol-water (1:6:1:6, v/v) with triethylamine (10 mM) added to the upper organic phase as a retainer and hydrochloric acid (5 mM) to the aqueous mobile phase eluent. Two structurally similar compounds – nuciferine and roemerine – were also obtained from the crude lotus leaves extract. In total 500 mg of crude extract furnished 7.4 mg of N-demethylarmepavine, 45.3 mg of nuciferine and 26.6 mg of roemerine with purities of 90%, 92% and 96%, respectively. Their structures were further identified by HPLC/ESI-MSn, FTICR/MS and the comparison with reference compounds
Corrosion resistance of Mg-Al-LDH steam coating on AZ80 Mg alloy: Effects of citric acid pretreatment and intermetallic compounds
In this study, the effects of intermetallic compounds (Mg17Al12 and Al8Mn5) on the Mg-Al layered double hydroxide (LDH) formation mechanism and corrosion behavior of an in-situ LDH/Mg(OH)2 steam coatings on AZ80 Mg alloy were investigated. Citric acid (CA) was used to activate the alloy surface during the pretreatment process. The alloy was first pretreated with CA and then subjected to a hydrothermal process using ultrapure water to produce Mg-Al-LDH/Mg(OH)2 steam coating. The effect of different time of acid pretreatment on the activation of the intermetallic compounds was investigated. The microstructure and elemental composition of the obtained coatings were analyzed using FE-SEM, EDS, XRD and FT-IR. The corrosion resistance of the coated samples was evaluated using different techniques, i.e., potentiodynamic polarization (PDP), electrochemical impedance spectrum (EIS) and hydrogen evolution test. The results indicated that the CA pretreatment significantly influenced the activity of the alloy surface by exposing the intermetallic compounds. The surface area fraction of Mg17Al12 and Al8Mn5 phases on the surface of the alloy was significantly higher after the CA pretreatment, and thus promoted the growth of the subsequent Mg-Al-LDH coatings. The CA pretreatment for 30 s resulted in a denser and thicker LDH coating. Increase in the CA pretreatment time significantly led to the improvement in corrosion resistance of the coated AZ80 alloy. The corrosion current density of the coated alloy was lower by three orders of magnitude as compared to the uncoated alloy
Influence of intermetallic Al-Mn particles on in-situ steam Mg-Al-LDH coating on AZ31 magnesium alloy
The influence of intermetallic Al-Mn particles on the corrosion behavior of in-situ formed Mg-Al layered double hydroxide (Mg-Al-CO32--LDH) steam coating on AZ31 Mg alloy was investigated. The alloy was pretreated with H3PO4, HCl, HNO3 or citric acid (CA), followed by hydrothermal treatment, for the fabrication of Mg-Al-LDH coating. The microstructure, composition and corrosion resistance of the coated samples were investigated. The results showed that the surface area fraction of Al-Mn phase exposed on the surface of the alloy was significantly increased after CA pretreatment, which promotes the growth of the Mg-Al-LDH steam coating. Further, the LDH-coated alloy pretreated with CA possessed the most compact surface and the maximum coating thickness among all the coatings. The corrosion current density of the coated alloy was decreased by three orders of magnitude as compared to that of the bare alloy
Rational synthesis of an atomically precise carboncone under mild conditions
在已知的碳的存在形态中,还有一种锥型的碳结构,早在50年前人们在热解碳时发现了这类结构,此前也常被人们称为碳纳米锥,虽然这类碳纳米锥有望作为扫描隧道显微镜的探针、场发射头等替代材料,但始终未能找到合适方法精准地合成它们。因此,这类锥型碳材料尚未得到人们足够重视和开发。功能团簇材料创新研究群体的谢素原、张前炎课题组与美国波士顿学院的Lawrence Scott教授合作,首次通过有机合成途径,在温和的条件下合成得到了首例结构明确的碳锥单元(碳锥子)C70H20及其可溶衍生物。他们通过实验、理论计算、结构分析,最终在他们合成的碳锥子结构中,仅有1个五元环在锥顶,而在锥顶和锥缘之间(围绕着中心五元环)有2圈由六元环组成的完整的稠圈层,谢素原等将这一碳锥子命名为carboncone[1,2]。通过这一典型的碳锥子(carboncone[1,2]),有望借助气相沉积等技术不断增加稠圈层数(m)来制备具有确定锥角的系列单壁纳米碳锥(carboncone[1,m>2])。随着研究的深入,不久的将来人类有望合成出其它四种不同锥角的碳锥子(carboncone[n=2-5,m]),完整地研究探索和开发利用这类锥型结构的碳材料。
化学化工学院2015级硕士生朱正钟(主要负责合成)和2017级博士生陈佐长(主要负责理论计算)为该论文的共同第一作者。Carboncones, a special family of all-carbon allotropes, are predicted to have unique properties that distinguish them from fullerenes, carbon nanotubes, and graphenes. Owing to the absence of methods to synthesize atomically well-defined carboncones, however, experimental insight into the nature of pure carboncones has been inaccessible. Herein, we describe a facile synthesis of an atomically well-defined carboncone[1,2] (C70H20) and its soluble penta-mesityl derivative. Identified by x-ray crystallography, the carbon skeleton is a carboncone with the largest possible apex angle. Much of the structural strain is overcome in the final step of converting the bowl-shaped precursor into the rigid carboncone under mild reaction conditions. The LAMOST Survey of Background Quasars in the Vicinity of the Andromeda and Triangulum Galaxies -- II. Results from the Commissioning Observations and the Pilot Surveys
We present new quasars discovered in the vicinity of the Andromeda and
Triangulum galaxies with the LAMOST during the 2010 and 2011 observational
seasons. Quasar candidates are selected based on the available SDSS, KPNO 4 m
telescope, XSTPS optical, and WISE near infrared photometric data. We present
509 new quasars discovered in a stripe of ~135 sq. deg from M31 to M33 along
the Giant Stellar Stream in the 2011 pilot survey datasets, and also 17 new
quasars discovered in an area of ~100 sq. deg that covers the central region
and the southeastern halo of M31 in the 2010 commissioning datasets. These 526
new quasars have i magnitudes ranging from 15.5 to 20.0, redshifts from 0.1 to
3.2. They represent a significant increase of the number of identified quasars
in the vicinity of M31 and M33. There are now 26, 62 and 139 known quasars in
this region of the sky with i magnitudes brighter than 17.0, 17.5 and 18.0
respectively, of which 5, 20 and 75 are newly-discovered. These bright quasars
provide an invaluable collection with which to probe the kinematics and
chemistry of the ISM/IGM in the Local Group of galaxies. A total of 93 quasars
are now known with locations within 2.5 deg of M31, of which 73 are newly
discovered. Tens of quasars are now known to be located behind the Giant
Stellar Stream, and hundreds behind the extended halo and its associated
substructures of M31. The much enlarged sample of known quasars in the vicinity
of M31 and M33 can potentially be utilized to construct a perfect astrometric
reference frame to measure the minute PMs of M31 and M33, along with the PMs of
substructures associated with the Local Group of galaxies. Those PMs are some

Search for the Rare Decays J/Psi --> Ds- e+ nu_e, J/Psi --> D- e+ nu_e, and J/Psi --> D0bar e+ e-
We report on a search for the decays J/Psi --> Ds- e+ nu_e + c.c., J/Psi -->
D- e+ nu_e + c.c., and J/Psi --> D0bar e+ e- + c.c. in a sample of 5.8 * 10^7
J/Psi events collected with the BESII detector at the BEPC. No excess of signal
above background is observed, and 90% confidence level upper limits on the
branching fractions are set: B(J/Psi --> Ds- e+ nu_e + c.c.)<4.8*10^-5, B(J/Psi
