Nucleon and heavy-ion total and absorption cross section for selected nuclei

Approximate solutions of the coupled-channel equations for high-energy composite particle scattering are obtained and are applied to the nuclear scattering problem. Relationships between several approximation procedures are established and discussed. The eikonal formalism is used with a small-angle approximation to calculate the coherent elastic scattered amplitude from which total and absorption cross sections are derived. Detailed comparisons with nucleon-nucleus experiments show agreement within 5 percent except at lower energies where the eikonal approximation is of questionable accuracy. Even at these lower energies, agreement is within 15 percent. Tables of cross sections required for cosmic heavy-ion transport and shielding studies are presented

Abstrak Persaingan yang semakin ketat mengharuskan Indonesia mengetahui potensi yang dimiliki dalam mengelola sumberdaya untuk kesejahteraan masyarakat, bangsa dan negara. Salah satu hal penting yang mendesak adalah seberapa besar potensi yang dimiliki Indonesia dalam sumber daya lautnya terutama di sektor perikanan tuna. Dilihat dari geografis, Indonesia memiliki laut yang sangat luas dengan sumber daya laut yang beragam. Sangatlah penting untuk mengetahui seberapa besar potensi tuna yang dimiliki Indonesia dan 5 negara pengekspor tuna terbesar di Asia. Untuk menemukan potensi ekspor tuna yang dimiliki, penelitian ini menggunakan alat yang disebut dengan Revealed Comparative Advantage (RCA). Dengan alat tersebut akan ditemukan seberapa mampukah Indonesia dalam mengeskpor tuna dan dilakukan perbandingan dengan 5 negara penghasil tuna terbesar di Asia. Hasil analisis menunjukan Indonesia memiliki potensi yang cukup besar dalam ekspor tuna. Dari jumlah ekspor tuna, Indonesia menduduki nomor satu jika dibandingkan 5 negara pengekspor tuna terbesar di Asia. Penetapan RCA Indonesia terhadap 5 negara lain menghasilkan angka 5,79 yang berarti Indonesia akan menjadi lebih baik apabila berspesialisasi dalam ekspor tuna. Kata kunci: Keunggulan Komparative Ikan Tuna, Bisnis Internasional, Ekspor Ikan Tuna Abstract The competitive market requires Indonesia to know the potential of resource management for the welfare of the society and nation.One of the important things is how much potency of Indonesia in marine resources, especially in tuna fishing sector. Judging from the geographical, Indonesia has a very wide sea with diverse marine resources. It is very important to know how much tuna potency of Indonesia and 5 largest tuna exporting countries in Asia.To find the potential of tuna export, this research adapts a method called Revealed Comparative Advantage (RCA). Using this method, we can find how much potency of Indonesia in tuna export compared to 5 largest tuna exporting countries in Asia. Analysis result shows that Indonesia has potential in tuna export. From the total of tuna export, Indonesia ranks number one compared to the 5 largest tuna exporting countries in Asia. RCA result of Indonesia towards 5 other tuna exporting countries shows 5,79 which means Indonesia will be better if specialize in the export of tuna. EQUITY TO ADEQUACY: A HISTORICAL ANALYSIS OF THE LITIGATIONS OF ABBEVILLE V. THE STATE OF SOUTH CAROLINA

As of June 2008, forty five of the fifty states have been involved in some form of litigation challenging the constitutionality of their State\u27s K-12 public school funding system. South Carolina is among those 45 states. The purpose of this study was to review and analyze the course of events within the court case Abbeville v. the State of South Carolina as the plaintiffs pursued a more equitable source of funding for public education. This study was also to provide a historical account of the litigations challenging the constitutionality of K-12 funding across the nation. In 1993 forty of the eighty school districts in the state of South Carolina filed suit against the State of South Carolina to provide a better system of funding that was equitable to all children. As the court case unfolded, the position shifted from an equitable solution to an adequate solution. Data for the research was utilized to describe a chronological sequence of events as the litigations moved back and forth from the trial court to the South Carolina Supreme Court. The data also provided information from other court cases across the nation in which the Plaintiffs were pursuing legal actions in an effort to provide equitable funding for their State. Data was collected from three primary sources: court documents, electronic articles, interviews with State school officials, and interviews with participants in the Abbeville v. the State of South Carolina court litigation. A conceptual framework of the study was developed to illustrate the art of triangulation as a research tool in an effort to accurately report the findings in a chronological and historical sequence
