    Espiritualidade, religiosidade e qualidade de vida em idosos

    As variáveis religiosidade e espiritualidade têm sido associadas a uma melhor qualidade de vida das pessoas. Diante deste entendimento, este estudo objetivou relacionar religiosidade/espiritualidade com qualidade de vida em indivíduos idosos.Método: Foi realizado um estudo transversal, descritivo e analítico em uma amostra de 158 idosos socialmente ativos, participantes de grupos de convivência em diferentes comunidades religiosas na cidade de Porto Alegre. A média de idade foi de 70,6 anos, com amplitude de variação entre 60 e 92 anos. Houve um predomínio de pessoas do sexo feminino e estado civil, casados. Em relação à escolaridade, no universo pesquisado, prevaleceu o ensino superior. Já quanto à condição socioeconômica, a maioria apresentou rendimentos de 1 a 4 salários mínimos. Quando questionados sobre a assiduidade com que frequentam ao serviço religioso, 63% relataram mais de uma vez por semana. O resultado da análise do impacto da religiosidade/espiritualidade, sobre os diferentes domínios de qualidade de vida, evidenciou que esta pode ser associada positivamente à maioria dos seus domínios. Este estudo permitiu concluir que as variáveis religiosidade e espiritualidade são preditoras de qualidade de vida nessa amostra de idosos.Variables religiosity and spirituality have been associated with a better quality of life.
