Concomitant Use of Glycoprotein IIb/IIIa Inhibitor and Streptokinase after Unsuccessful Rescue Angioplasty

    Get PDF
A 38-year-old man with acute myocardial infarction in the lower wall affecting the right ventricle underwent thrombolytic treatment with streptokinase. Approximately 2 hours after the thrombolytic treatment started, he presented with signs of coronary reocclusion. He underwent emergency cineangiocoronariography that revealed that his right coronary artery was completely occluded by a clot. He unsuccessfully underwent angioplasty and stent implantation. After the concomitant use of glycoprotein IIb/IIIa inhibitor, coronary TIMI III flow was achieved without additional dilations, and he was discharged from the hospital 5 days later with no further complications.Universidade Federal de São Paulo (UNIFESP) Escola Paulista de MedicinaUNIFESP, EPMSciEL

Influence of O and C co-implantation on the lattice site of Er in GaN

    Get PDF
The lattice location of low-dose implanted Er in GaN, GaN:O, and GaN:C was investigated using the emission channeling technique. The conversion electrons emitted by the probe isotope 167m^{167m}Er give direct evidence that the majority (~90%) of Er atoms are located on substitutional Ga sites for all samples. Annealing up to 900 °C does not change these fractions, although it reduces the Er root-mean-square (rms) displacements. The only visible effect of oxygen or carbon doping is a small increase in the rms displacements with respect to the undoped sample

Control of Carapa guianensis phenology and seed production at multiple scales: a five-year study exploring the influences of tree attributes, habitat heterogeneity and climate cues.

During 5 y, we monitored reproductive activity and seed production of Carapa guianensis in two forest types to test the hypothesis that seed production is influenced by multiple factors across scales (regional climatic cues, local habitat heterogeneity and individual tree attributes). Variability in seed production was moderate at the population (CVp =1.25) and individual level (xCVi =1.24). Amixed modelwith a Poisson regression revealed that seed production was explained by variables at all scales. Total seed production was significantly higher in occasionally inundated forests. Diameter at breast height, dbh2, crown cross-sectional area, liana load, density, dry-season rainfall and mean maximum temperature were also significant in explaining seed production variation. Seed production increased with dbh until 40?50 cm, then decreased. Liana load demonstrated a negative relationship with seed production, but only in terra firme forests. Climatic cues (rainfall and temperature parameters) were central to setting overall patterns in reproductive activity and seemed to best explain why years with high seed production were consistent across the two forest types (habitats) examined. Dry-season rainfall was positively correlated with seed production

Use of shrimp protein hydrolysate in Nile tilapia (Oreochromis niloticus, L.) feeds.

A 45-day feeding trial was carried out to evaluate the use of shrimp protein hydrolysate (SPH) in diets for Oreochromis niloticus, L. SPH was included in isonitrogenous diets replacing fish meal protein by 0, 5, 10, and 20% and offered to Nile tilapia juveniles (1.7 ± 0.4 g) stocked in 40-L glass aquaria. The inclusion of SPH produced no significant differences (P C 0.05) in final weight, survival, weight gain, average daily gain, specific growth rate, feed conversion ratio, protein efficiency ratio, or apparent net protein utilization. The inclusion of SPH Nile tilapia diets significantly affected (P\0.05) the final fish body composition. Protein and ash contents decreased and fat content increased slightly with the increase in SPH. This study has demonstrated that SPH is a promising protein feedstuff and could account for as much as 6% of Nile tilapia diets with no adverse effects on growth and nutrient utilization
