    Analytical Multi-kinks in smooth potentials

    In this work we present an approach which can be systematically used to construct nonlinear systems possessing analytical multi-kink profile configurations. In contrast with previous approaches to the problem, we are able to do it by using field potentials which are considerably smoother than the ones of Doubly Quadratic family of potentials. This is done without losing the capacity of writing exact analytical solutions. The resulting field configurations can be applied to the study of problems from condensed matter to brane world scenarios

    Asymptotic Bethe equations for open boundaries in planar AdS/CFT

    We solve, by means of a nested coordinate Bethe ansatz, the open-boundaries scattering theory describing the excitations of a free open string propagating in AdS5×S5AdS_5\times S^5, carrying large angular momentum J=J56J=J_{56}, and ending on a maximal giant graviton whose angular momentum is in the same plane. We thus obtain the all-loop Bethe equations describing the spectrum, for JJ finite but large, of the energies of such strings, or equivalently, on the gauge side of the AdS/CFT correspondence, the anomalous dimensions of certain operators built using the epsilon tensor of SU(N). We also give the Bethe equations for strings ending on a probe D7-brane, corresponding to meson-like operators in an N=2\mathcal N=2 gauge theory with fundamental matter.Comment: 30 pages. v2: minor changes and discussion section added, J.Phys.A version

    Enhanced Safety Surveillance of Influenza Vaccines in General Practice, Winter 2015-16: Feasibility Study

    BACKGROUND: The European Medicines Agency (EMA) requires vaccine manufacturers to conduct enhanced real-time surveillance of seasonal influenza vaccination. The EMA has specified a list of adverse events of interest to be monitored. The EMA sets out 3 different ways to conduct such surveillance: (1) active surveillance, (2) enhanced passive surveillance, or (3) electronic health record data mining (EHR-DM). English general practice (GP) is a suitable setting to implement enhanced passive surveillance and EHR-DM. OBJECTIVE: This study aimed to test the feasibility of conducting enhanced passive surveillance in GP using the yellow card scheme (adverse events of interest reporting cards) to determine if it has any advantages over EHR-DM alone. METHODS: A total of 9 GPs in England participated, of which 3 tested the feasibility of enhanced passive surveillance and the other 6 EHR-DM alone. The 3 that tested EPS provided patients with yellow (adverse events) cards for patients to report any adverse events. Data were extracted from all 9 GPs' EHRs between weeks 35 and 49 (08/24/2015 to 12/06/2015), the main period of influenza vaccination. We conducted weekly analysis and end-of-study analyses. RESULTS: Our GPs were largely distributed across England with a registered population of 81,040. In the week 49 report, 15,863/81,040 people (19.57% of the registered practice population) were vaccinated. In the EPS practices, staff managed to hand out the cards to 61.25% (4150/6776) of the vaccinees, and of these cards, 1.98% (82/4150) were returned to the GP offices. Adverse events of interests were reported by 113 /7223 people (1.56%) in the enhanced passive surveillance practices, compared with 322/8640 people (3.73%) in the EHR-DM practices. CONCLUSIONS: Overall, we demonstrated that GPs EHR-DM was an appropriate method of enhanced surveillance. However, the use of yellow cards, in enhanced passive surveillance practices, did not enhance the collection of adverse events of interests as demonstrated in this study. Their return rate was poor, data entry from them was not straightforward, and there were issues with data reconciliation. We concluded that customized cards prespecifying the EMA's adverse events of interests, combined with EHR-DM, were needed to maximize data collection.     Contextos Alfareros de Interacción Social: Lo Local y Lo Foráneo en el Cementerio Inca de Quinta Normal

    This paper provides information about 17 ceramic vessels, which are part of the off erings from seven burials of the Inca Period, found at the site Estación Intermodal Quinta Normal de Santiago (Chile). Based on morphologic and decorative attributes we make a stylistic classifi cation of the vessels. Additionally contextual and bioanthropological information of the burials is presented. Finally, we discuss topics related to the nature and scale of the Inca presence in the Maipo-Mapocho basin and its relationship with local groups.Key words:Tawantinsuyu, Inca pottery, Aconcagua culture, cultural dynamics.Se dan a conocer 17 vasijas cerámicas, que constituyen parte de las ofrendas de siete entierros del Período Incaico registrados en el sitio Estación Intermodal Quinta Normal de Santiago, Chile. Sobre la base de rasgos formales y decorativos de la alfarería, se realiza una adscripción estilística de estas piezas. Adicionalmente, se entrega información contextual y bioantropológica sobre los entierros. Finalmente, se discuten temáticas relacionadas con la escala y naturaleza de la presencia Incaica en la cuenca de Maipo-Mapocho, y su relación con las poblaciones locales.Palabras clave: Tawantinsuyu, Alfarería Inca, cultura Aconcagua, dinámicas de aculturación
